Do you recommend this table? Difference between model names? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I am thinking of buying a note 10.1 after I feel in love with my note 2. I have an motorola xoom today and I was wondering if you guys recommend me to buy the note 10.1 and is it worth the upgrade from xoom?
Also i wonder what is the difference between the model names? GT-N8000 and 8020? I read that one of them didn't have hdmi connectivity, can someone shed a light on this?
Any known problems with the note 10.1 that you should know before buying?
Thanks

What is your main use? Games or business??

I would say casual tablet user. I may use it for studies(engineer) I play games sometimes.
I surf the Web a lot

N8000 - 3G connectivity (Calls and Mobile Internet)
N8005 - 3G (Mobile internet only)
N8010/13 - WIFI only models
N8020 LTE/4G model (Calls and Mobile Internet)
All Models use WIFI, but N8010/13 don't allow SMS and Email with sim cards, N8000 & N8020 allow phone calls..

Definitely a good tablet if you're looking toward education. The stylus is great.
Biggest advice: Get the 32gb model. 16gb is fine for a phone..but not a tablet. The OS and bloatware sucks up a good 5gb of memory. Amazon price difference when I got mine was about $50. Well worth it.
And..order a CLEAR screen protector. The Moko is great. Can't even see it if placed properly.
I got an M-Edge case that allows the tablet to rotate so you can stand it up either landscape or portrait. Pretty cool.
Don't know much about the Xoom so can't offer comparisons.

You don't want this. Buy a brand name Android phone.
iPhone clone Android are really dumb, because think about it: Android has home, menu (not really on ICS anymore), back, search (again, not on ICS). But the iPhone clones have a single button. So how will you navigate with that single button when you AT LEAST need back and home?

so this phone not worth ?????
The goophone i5 has a Single Hardware Button wich is mapped with the menukey function. But there are onscreen softbuttons too. So there will be no Problem in Navigation.
The specs of the i5 Sounds good for me, But i haven't test it for myself

Makes it even worse. Why have a single hardware button, along with onscreen keys, when they could just add the menu button into the navigation bar (like AOKP)? It would look awful.
@OP The phone will probably be stuck with its original firmware forever, and most market apps will list the phone as "incompatible." For its price, which I think is upper $200s or even $300+, it would be a better idea to buy a Galaxy Nexus once its price drops, or even a used S2/Gnex

230 euros = $296
At any rate, it is trying to copy the iPhone 5 so it will attain its unique resolution of 1136x640, thus making pretty much any app unsupported
Also, it's tegra 3. Good, but incredibly overrated. The Snapdragon S4 dual core is on par with tegra 3

Doubts about goophone.
Hello,
I've this phone (Goophone I5) and the goophone y5 (iphone 4s clone).
In this post i'll do a review of both.
Goophone Y5
Unboxing:
Brings earphones, iphone data cable and charger. Even the manual is the same as iphone 4s.
Look:
Looks exactly the same as iphone 4s. It has the same aluminium structure, back case in glass and retina display with 960x640 pixels as the original iphone.
It came with a micro sim slot as the iphone 4s. So, you must cut your regular sim card to fit on this phone as you do with the real one.
OS Look
It looks exactly the same as iphone 4s. It comes with an default launcher that is 99,99% the same as the iphone 4s.
All the S.O was edited to look as the iphone 4s. And to be honest i'm really impressed with their work. It's very well made.
Performance:
This is a very good phone. It is fast, it runs all the most played games with no lag at all. I was expecting it to be some kind of slow and laggy, but it isn't. It does it job very well.
But you must take a point in consideration. This is an android based software, so it will not be as fast as an iOS phone. iOS is made in objective C and android is java based. so.. iOS is faster than any android based cellphone.
Camera
It has an 5.0 MP Camera with flash. The quality is good when you take pictures at day light. Night pictures aren't that good...but as any phone you get more quality with day pictures than night.
The video recording is good. The format is 3GP but is ok. The camera recording is fast and its quite reliable.
Overview
For that people who love android (like me) i recommend you to buy this phone. It's so similar, than if you have a real iphone 4s you can replace some parts from the goophone y5 (Screen and Battery).
I got mine from thecheapchoice.com
Here is the link: http://www.thecheapchoice.com/en/smartphones/13-goophone-y5-.html
The price is around $200 USD. But it worth every penny.
I bought mine from here. They have 3 options of shipping.
- Free shipping (15 -30 days).
- Registered air mail (Tracking code: 10 - 20 days )
- DHL, EMS, Fedex (5 - 10 Days)
Payment:
They only accept Paypal. But is okay! This way you have your order secured. If you don't get it in 45 days you can ask the refund.
This website is reliable, they don't lie to you, you get what you buy and their service is also good.
Goophone I5 Lite
Unboxing
Brings earphones, iphone data cable and charger.
Look
Looks exactly the same as iphone 5. It has the same aluminium structure with only 7.6mm , back case as the iphone 5 and display with 960*540 pixels (not retina display) but it has good quality. It is very very similar to retina display, you won't see the difference.
It came with a micro sim slot as the iphone 5. So, you must cut your regular sim card to fit on this phone as you do with the real one.
OS Look
It looks exactly the same as iphone 5. It comes with an default launcher that is 99,99% the same as the iphone 5. I think that the company took the launcher from the goophone y5 and just improved it.
All the S.O was edited to look as the iphone 5. It's more iphone like than the Y5
Performance
It is really fast. It brings a dual core processor and 1GB ram so you will notice that every move you make on it will be fast.
Camera
It has an 8.0 MP Camera with flash. The quality is good.
The video recording is also good.
Overview
The phone is good, is well made, good touch screen and it's fast. And the most important thing: It is ANDROID based. It's not heavy so it don't look like a brick in your pocket.
If i recommend it? Of course. Instead of paying more than $600 USD for a iphone 5 i can have this one for more than half a price, with the same look and with a good performance.
Link of the website: http://www.thecheapchoice.com/en/sm...n-dual-core-cpu-8mp-camera-android-phone.html
For the ones who say that chinese phones don't worth it, it's because you don't know how things are. China is currently the biggest smartphones productor of the globe.
There are hundreds of different phones, brands and models. So before buying one, you must search a lot until you find the correct one.
Some phones are exactly the same apparently, but then there are many brands making it..so, inside chinese clones are clones of clones..
Before buying a Goophone I5 or another Goophone, try to look for genuine ones and not clones like thunderbird, etc.
On that website, they only sell genuine Goohphone's. So if you want to buy one i think is the right place to go.
I hope i helped you out.

[Q]Galaxy Tab 2 or Nexus 4?

Guys, i have a [probably] stupid question.
I know the two devices listed are a phone and a tablet but...
I dont have a lot of cash. I currently have a Motorola Defy running on CM10. Im asking myself should i buy a Tab 2 (which is now $179 on amazon.com) and keep the Defy (and have two devices) or sell the Defy and buy a LG Nexus 4 (having a single device). What do you guys recommend? My main uses are browsing the web, reading books and watching movies, occasional games, and occasional office documents editing. I want the portability of the Nexus 4 and keeping my device with me always but the larger screen of the Tab 2 has an advantage.
Thanks a lot!
Hi!
Once I decide to buy a tablet I had the same question.
It´s very easy to share the phone internet to tablet when out of your home or other place without wireless and once connected via bluetooth the tablet will give you a very nice confort for internet browsing, email, etc, besides book reading and other task such as games if it´s also the case.
It´s not good to answer a phone call with a tablet - wierd experience. And you will have to keep it with you, sometimes it´s size will be a problem. If you focus a less sized device you will lose the benefits of bigger screen, sometimes 7" seems to be small and sometimes big. Everything will depends upon your usage.
From my point of view you should keep with your Defy and buy the Tab 2, Wifi version. Nowadays I have also a Galaxy tab 2 7.0 + Motorola phone and they are very good friends one to each other. I am happy with my choice as with my phone I can do everything I would do a 3G version, ie (P3100).
Get the Nexus 4. It is fast, has stock Android, and you don't have to keep up with two devices.

Galaxy tab 2 have 7 inch screen so good for reading books, have full hd playback so good for movies, support most of hd games
So it must be great.
And on other hand if you want pure android experience, fast processor,2gb ram, early updates,a better camera, intense gaming go for nexus 4.
7" is a different experience than a 4". I find myself using the tablet (7.0) over my phone most of the time.
Thanks for all your answers... but i still cant make up my mind maybe ill wait for some time and save up for the nexus 4
Even I am stuck with the same problem. Though the tab 2 has a 7" screen its no HD display, that's what is stopping me from getting a tab 2.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Well Tab 2 7.0 is 179.99 shipped while Nexus 4 is 393 tax and shipping. I love my Galaxy Nexus and Tab 2 7. I think it's a good combo. Between the two will be how you spend your days. Near wifi most of the time? Get the tab. On the move a lot or need a powerful phone? Nexus 4. And then there's the price difference. Even though the Nexus is a bargain, price difference is big.

[Q] Hey guys/gals.. bigger tab/phone?

My coworker friend really likes my 6800..
I pull my ATTT sim from my Note and stick it on the 6800 and he really digs my 7.7 inch phone...
NOW, he wants the same in a 10 incher...
Ive looked at the Note 8000 and the N7500.. but I really cant get any definitive answers..
Which Samsung Galaxy 10 inch tab has a sim card slot and phone capabilities with a dialer..
just like our P6800's?
He wants what I got..
A phone number, send and receive txt, mms, data, and be able to hold a speakerphone conversation while surfings and sending txt all at the same time..
Just like our beloved 6800's..
the android version doesnt matter that much as Im sure he'll be happy with ICS...
So.. can people chime in on which 10 inch Samsung tab has the same capabilites as our 6800'? not really counting screen rez.. just wants the phone ,txt, and date mainly in a 10 incher..
thanks to all who reply. All replies and comments are welcomed and encouraged.
thanks again
Which Samsung 10 inch to get w/ sim and phone..
Note 10.1
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
What's the model number of that note 10.1? N8000? OR 7500?
Any other model that will do it right out of the box? International versions, correct?
Thanks...
N8000 Note 10.1, just tell him to have a tailor sew gigantic pockets to his trousers... he'll be fine..

So what would you Note 10.1 owners do now?

This question is directed at folks who own a Note 10.1. If you were looking for a tablet today, would you buy the Note 10.1 again or would you buy something else? Why? If you would buy a different tablet what would it be and why?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
In short: if I would by an android tablet I would definitely buy a Note 10.1 again, no doubt about it. However, having a quite decent laptop in the tablet would be nice sometimes so one doesn't have to carry two devices in school and still can run ie matlab and MS Office, so a series 7 Slate (also this from Samsung) is something I would really consider. But it's a lot more expensive and larger so using it for pure reading as an ebook-ish is probably not as pleasant but then again it's more devices in one combined with a small wireless keyboard.

Welllll,
I was waiting when I got my Note 10.1, then a really good deal (350 $US) came up on a refurbished 32GB model, so I jumped on it.
What I was cross shopping was the Samsung ATIV 500t, and the prices of those were down considerably, but after trying both in the store, the Note 10.1 was far smoother and a better experience than the ATIV, but the allure of running full windows Desktop apps (photoshop, illustrator, etc. )on a tablet is still there. The next line of Intel chips (Haswell, not the ones in the new G-tab 3) should hit the sweet spot of performance and battery life, and that's what I'd wait for, that or a sweet deal on the Note 8. The Note 8 is a very very compelling product, the pen is different in the 8" version and works a good bit better than on the 10.1, but the price is out of line from my expectations.
I bought the Note 10.1 for the features it had- 10" screen, Quad-Core CPU, 2GB RAM, fast Samsung Flash-memory and 3G connectivity (plus it's unlocked and there's kernel source available). For those specs, there's no currently-available equal.
That being said, once the upcoming Sony Tablet Z 3G/LTE comes out, I'll probably get it. I've had a chance to play with one of the prototypes and I like the form-factor and the fact that SonyMobile has released all the source already.
Every meeting I have when I start taking notes with my Note 10.1, I get asked about it and someone usually says "I wish my ipad did that"... There is simply no better pen input device on the market... yet!
I would wait because I would be expecting that a new Note tablet would come out, and this Note tablet would drop in price.

Actually, since the 8.0 recently was launched there won't be another similar tablet in this year or maybe "just in time for christmas shopping".
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I would wait for the 5.0 upgrade if that is not just a rumour . or at least 4.2..... multiuser on this tablet would be usefull.
I too was looking for other new upcoming tablets like the new nexus thats about to hit in autumn or the xperia z that has sort of the same concept of multi tasking (refering to the floating apps that xperia home has) ; but i have trully fallen in love with the s- pen and multiwindow functionality and app developed here on xda !!
So for Now.. regarding your subject, the note is still serving all my needs in terms of performance.
The next note ( if there will be such ), will sure be quite interesting. The note 10.1 that exists allready has the cool revolutionary multi tasking concept mentioned, that not many android devices have yet implemented to be usefull enough for my user taste.
I'm thinkin that there are many directions to explore in android, that none big producer has explored till samsung started mostly .
Sure it would be great for me ...if i could run a vanilla aosp android 4.2 like on the nexus10 but multiwindowed... Even aokp and cm.....
Is should be possible in any device till now...no matter that version....theyre just teasing us.
I would consider the new Toshiba as that also had sd-card and a stylus but is super high-res. Just waiting to see how easy it will be to root. The resolution is the only way in which the Note could seriously be improved imo, but tbh I haven't found it to be much of an issue and I do a lot of technical pdf reading and annotating.
ASUS is currently giving its keynote presentation at Computex 2013 in Taipei where it has just rolled out the first of a few new Android devices, the refreshed and redesigned Transformer Pad Infinity.
10-inch 2560x1600 IPS display with 178-degree viewing angle
1.9GHz Tegra 4 CPU
2GB of RAM
32GB of storage, expandable by SDcard
802.11a/b/g/n Wifi
USB 3.0 port
4K video output over HDMI
399.00 price point and 499.00 with dock
The are also working on the ASUS Transformer Book Trio, runs Android "Jelly Bean"and Windows 8
It will have two CPUs -- a fourth-generation Intel Core i7 U4500 for Windows and an Atom 2580 for Android. It's also got two banks of storage available -- a 1TB traditional hard drive and 64GB of flash storage and a 1080p IPS display.
The Trio can be docked and used as a tablet or a laptop. But it also boasts an additional usage mode -- the docking station can be connected to a monitor to create a full desktop PC experience. So it looks like the Atom chip lives in the display, while the Core i7 likely resides in the dock.
All about android talked about it on there webcast this week. ( http://twit.tv/show/all-about-android/112 starts at 16:20 mark )
It looks like they are going after Samsung and Microsoft's business so you should expect a new line or upgrades from Samsung.
I would most likely stick with my Note 10.1 as I already know what it can do and I'm happy.

Should I buy TAB2?

I've been mostly HTC fanboy except disappointment with my HTC Sensation which is quite bad (I also have HTC Flyer and HTC Wildfire and I'm happy with both). Now I'm looking to buy some new 10 inch tablet, would you recommend P5110 as a good choice? Are they not faulty like my HTC sensation? Maybe I should look for some other models? Please let me know do you consider your TAB2 being a good choice, which model and what are the alternatives within similar price? I didn't ask those questions before buying HTC Sensation and I have device that have many faults that are caused by HTC not giving damn about making their product fully reliable I hope that is not the case with TAB2. Please share your opinions whether you satisfied with your purchase , would you recommend and any advice for new to Samsung android products guy. Thanks.
The Tab2 is a good choice but i think the Tab 3 is more potential and its price is good (199 Eur).
If you want good support from xda (more roms and other mods) you can choose tab 2 over tab 3 . coz 10 inch tab 3 has an intel processor so don't expect cynogenmod and other AOSP , so you should stuck in stock rom .
If you care performance and design over support then you can choose tab 3
But the better options in galaxy devices are note 10.1 (expensive) or note 8.0 . coz both have s -pen and and are goodplayers in the case of performance . So you don't miss anything out in these tablets

You can run many hd games really well with tab 2 GT-P5110 because i have it with cyanogenmod 10.2(android 4.3) and with custom kernel which supports gpu overclock but you don't need to so to play without lag. Just remeber that when you have bought(if you buy tab 2) you get custom jelly bean 4.1.2 c custom 4.3 or stock 4.1.2 rom because icecream sandwich is so bad, i had eve downloading problems on many sites with it but it is juat 4.0.4 or 4.0.3 icecream sandwich stock rom. I have had tab 2 for about 4 months and for example (with rom i am using) i can play nfs most wanted and asphault 8 without lag without overclock, and i am sure that too with 4.1.2. Reason why i don't recomend 4.2.2 jelly bean roms is because they haven't so good performance but its just me because i am gamer, but it has good features and so on.
There are probably better choices for the cost, but that said I've ran ICS stock, jellybean stock, cm 10, cm10.1 and cm10.2 on the 7 inch variant and have been very happy with it, my only gripe I've ever had was screen quality, - it's not HD. But that doesn't so me from preferring it over my kindle fire HD.
I am not sure it will be a contender when key lime pie comes out.

I suggest to choose another mark. Samsung will tell you that the device can receive the update but honestly it is a fake. I have a galaxy tab 2 10.1 and in Italy the update to jellybean was for January 2013. Now it is September and I didn't receive any updated. The same for my phone galaxy duos. **** Samsung

Hi. I think your choice also depends on whether you want the tab for games, for reading, watching series or movies, so forth...
I believe nexus 7 is a great choice if you care much about games or you are a developer, however my opinion is that Galaxy line of Tabs have a very good battery life, good developer support, and works fine for everyday use.
Regards!

I like my tab 2 7.0. Really happy with it, little lagging but I mainly use it as ebook reader and with nova prime on it lag is almost non existent. I don't noticed any lag in other games either. Again, lag only on the stock launcher touchwiz (even the s4 has) and some browsing.

Nexus 7 is good device and has very impressive specs on paper but it's not good for real life use. Actually nexus devices are meant for developers and high end users (especially nexus 7) . New nexus 7 is a very defective model on both hardware side and software side..and we can see their real build quality of asus from that device(very poor). If you're considering value for your money then flo (N7) is a no-go
If you want to see the poor build quality of N7 then head to this N7 thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380223
I can compare to Kindle Fire original, N7, Nook HD (Hummingbird CM 10.2), Nook HD+ ((Ovation CM 10.2). The stock, rooted, 2.7 is my favorite
GPS, front/rear camera, MicroSD Card, microphone, hardware keys and IR are important features for me. With MightyText and Magicjack installed, I have what is almost a phone. A 7 inch GPS is a wonderful thing and that is difficult without the External Storage. Downside is weak screen resolution and poor laggy screen with Touchwiz (use Nova Launcher).
If screen resolution is a major factor, the CM ROM Nooks are a great value.
