I think he wants a second user name on his phone. I think this is only possible on tablets.

It is only possible on tablets and is only available as a feature on 4.2 so he would need a tablet running 4.2

Guest Mode for All Android Phones (App)
The first time a guest mode was revealed for any android device was with the launch of LG G2 series phones. This feature was advertised so well in the media. I also bought an LG G2 at that time (not for this feature alone) as it was a great phone. I realized that a little over six months had passed and I seldom used the Guest Mode feature on the phone.
The guest mode in G2 and the one in the upcoming Android L (5.0) is something that is too apparent in nature. What I mean is that any adult who is given a phone in the guest mode will easily be able to come to know that they do not have the full access to the phone. In cultures (like India), it will be considered very rude in case I lent a phone to another user in Guest Mode. Also, what do you do when you Dad asked you for your phone, you surely cannot give him in Guest Mode (this will make him more suspicious).
This was the practical challenge when I decided to make an app for myself, the app that I have been using is similar to an app locker. However, it has been added with a screen lock as well. I chose two different types of passwords (one master and another guest). The app allows me to chose all the applications that I consider private and want to be locked (such as emails, whatsapp, other chats, picture gallery etc). When I unlock my screen using the master password, the screen gets unlocked and all protected apps get unlocked as well. When I give my phone to someone else, I just give them my guest password. The screen gets unlocked normally using the guest password, however, all the protected apps continue to be locked. This helps me easily give my phone to others.
When I gave the app to my friends, the kind of response that I received was overwhelming. So launched it for public as well. You can download the app for free from Google Play. Just search for Pluggdd on Google Play, it is the only app on Pluggdd as the developer.
Looking forward to feedback from you all developers on what is missing in the app and what more features can I add.
Hi, I have XOLO Q800 running with android 4.2.1 and my son somehow enabled guest mode. When i try to remove / change it, it is asking for a password. My son says he did not give any password. With guest mode, i cannot see call log or SMS messages. How can i remove it without a password.

after (how long? a year or so) the "hidden in menus" feature of the Android Market, used to hide old phones from the install list, seems to be working
shock horror! get in there before it stops working again, maybe if we set it now it will "keep" the settings
it still doesn't work in the "orders" tab and shows every single app i had once installed on old devices, but whatever

Might want to point out this is the web interface you are talking about, your obvious isn't always obvious to the world...
i said Android Market, not market app
I've hidden my old phones several times, but they keep coming back on their own. I don't know what triggers the change.
Android Market could mean both the app and the web interface. In general everyone understands Android Market to be the phone app. You should specify if it is the web interface.

Google needs to fix the option menu.
They've got to add a way to delete old phones from the list.
Sick of having to hide the old phones from the menu, just to have it come back, having to redo the list again.

sorry to be pedantic but, Android Market - capital A capital M - only refers to the web interface...the Market app is simply called Market...though i understand that that would not be evident to everyone, it is not for us to know what everyone else would assume in order to cover for it...but now you know and i know and we all know, so it's sweet!

Zikk is unique mobile to mobile remote support app.
So what's so special about Zikk?
It is designed for consumers and not for IT depatments and operators,
therefore it is extremely simple and user friendly.
It provides full privacy protection - no screen sharing, and no access to SMS, email, etc.
It doesn't require constant internet access, and doesn't prevent the recipient from using his
phone for other purposes during the process.
It supports all Android devices (2.2 and above).
In addition to remote support, Zikk contains a local settings menu which uses Zikk's simple
and friendly interface.
When people have a hard time setting up their smartphones, they ask help from their friends
and family - Zikk enables users to help each other.
APK attached. Also available on Google-Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zikk.alpha)
where you will also find a short and helpful demo video. You van also find the video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsP9-Lpfwpk).
So both people need Zikk installed, I presume? Does the person you are helping get prompted to download it?

Correct. If the selected contact does not have the app, the user will be asked to allow sending
an automatic SMS with a link to the download page. There is also a share option where you can
send this message (via SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) to one or more people.

This really does sound great; however, does it support wifi-only tablets? Is the phone number just to receive verification code? If so, will any mobile phone number work?

The current version is designed for Android phones does not support WiFi-only tablets or
large screen tablets, however in a few weeks I will publish the tablet version, which will
include UI adjustments, tablet related features and a different registration process.
Sounds AMAZING! I'd really like to use this to help my friends and family. I live in India though
No worries, I'll wait
fantastic idea!!! this will surely take off!! kudos to the OP!!
how far this app will go ? I mean can I help someone from anywhere ?
What about phone types? What if my phone is a Nexus and the other device is a HTC?

I like the app a lot, but what make it one of the best is if I could move, install, & uninstall system apps, and a root file manager so that we can help rooted users also

Actually a version for rooted users is an interesting idea. Not sure how common "less tech savvy"
rooted users are though. If you have more ideas for features for rooted users I would love to hear them.
I actually have a friend who is just getting into root use who calls for advice when he needs it. Let's be honest we were all beginners once and maybe could have used a little hand. He moved recently so there is distance involved now. This looks like a great idea.
I would love to have access to the settings menus, root file explorer and perhaps apps he already has installed such as set CPU or apps of that nature.
Beginners in root use are just as confused by root abilities as beginners in android are of it's stock features at times.
It would be really great to be able to start a log cat app and have your friend do something that normally causes a crash for example if they are not advanced enough to run one themselves. A current issue I have on hand. Trying to explain how to run one and sending videos to watch.
Hope this keeps going

Everyone knows that feeling when someone asks to use your phone but you're afraid to let them because they can go through everything on it. This is a serious privacy issue within Android; there is no easy way to lend others your phone without them being able to go through it. That's why I created Obstructer, an app for Android that blocks access to your device's content when you let others use your phone. It works by disabling the home button, the recent app screen and the notification bar. This makes everything on your phone inaccessible until you enter a password that opens when the call is ended.
So tell me what you think, the link is below.

Hi guys,
First of all sorry for my English lol
I know it's a strange question, I'll try to explain me better
I have a tablet provided by my company for my work as agebt/seller with all company stuffs, it has a normal Android original rom, ita a galaxy 10.1 gtn8000 with Android 4.1.2
Im allowed to use it for my personal use (they said go on youporn but not when u are working lol) but I'm forced by the company to use my private Gmail account to use playstore, so my mail are both on phone and tablet, they shouldn't watch at it because of privacy but I have many reasons to think they do it constantly, tablet has remote control enabled due to let theme install updates of working stuffs
Well how can I check what they do when access to my tablet? I googled so much but I only find ways to check if gf is cheating lol I need to see what they do on my device hehe
Any advice? Any program that records screen when I'm not using it (usually they do updates at night time
Thanks a lot to everyone
A little bump hoping in some ideas

WHATSAPP WEB
HI everyone! I bet that a lot of us have a smartphone and a tablet, maybe for work, for gaming, or maybe just to have a better experience with a large screen device. it depends. Everyone also has Whatsapp to get in touch with friends on their phone, but i know that a lot of people wanted to use it also on tablets. For those who already tried it, i know too, there's a way to make it work and it's called "Chrome". In Chrome you can use "Request as a Desktop Site" to reach your goal but..who would like to have always open a browser that consumes RAM and battery? No one i guess. So i decided to make an app that let you Whatsapp Web on your Tablet/Phablet without the need of using a browser. Obviously it consumes less resources and it's battery friendly. Very simple.
1) Install the app
2) Open it
3) Scan the QR code with your smartphone
4) Have fun!
**PAY ATTENTION**
THE APP HAS BEEN TESTED WITH A COUPLE OF TABLETS SUCH AS GALAXY TAB S2, GALAXY TAB 3, GALAXY TB S. IT HAS BEEN ALSO TESTED WITH SOME SMARTPHONES (for testing purpose only) SUCH AS GALAXY CORE 2, GALAXY A3, GALAXY A5, LG SPIRIT 4G. WORKED FINE WITH ALL OF THEM. IF YOU CANNOT USE WHATSAPP WEB, PROBABLY THERE WILL BE AN USER AGENT PROBLEM. JUST LET ME KNOW AND I'LL TRY TO FIX.
**NOTE**
The app uses whatsapp name's and icon just because i'm not planning to upload it on Playstore. It was an app for myself that i decided to share here with you, so maybe it can be useful for someone else. Obviously i'm not affiliated with Whatsapp Inc. and all rights belongs to their respective owners.
Here some screenshot captured on my Galaxy Tab S2:
Screen 1
Screen 2
Screen 3
And here's the apk package that obviously can be downloaded by everyone:

It's simple, user cannot use whatsapp without a verification and cannot use one account on multiple devices. If you go on your pc to this website "web.whatsapp.com" you'll see the qr code to be scanned. This step is necessary and allows the connection between your phone and whatsapp web. Unfortunately this cannot be avoided. This app "wraps" the desktop site of whatsapp web and allows users with a tablet without 4g to use it on their devices without the need of a Pc and, obviously on the go. If you want to learn more, please go here. Hope it helps

The app is designed for tablet and phablet devices because it works best in landscape mode (on big screens). However it seems to be a webview problem. Unfortunately it's not an app bug, so i don't know if i can make something to workaround this issue. I'll try

Hi, more explanation on the non-exit issue:
When I hit the Back-Button, the thin dark green line in the top area flashes shortly. So pushing button seems to be recognized, but nothing happens.

Hello! Just quit the app by deleting it from "recents". Actually there isn't a "back to exit" option, but i'm looking into it. Thanks for using WW
I love this app, thank you for sharing.
Works well on my Tab S2. I have a small problem though, sending/attaching photos does not work. I tap the paperclip icon then tap 'Photos and Videos', I can choose a photo from any source yet it does not do anything after that.
There is another similar app on the market called WhatsTablet where photo sending does work, but your app starts faster and looks better!

Hi, long time ago i purchased from codecanyon a template app called web2app (because i was new to android developement) . Unfortunately the twmplate wasn't showing pages in "Desktop" view, and i needed it for that. So i spent a few hours to learn and modify the code to make it work and show correctly desktop sites.
