Is there any way to use Kindle books with Readers Hub?
The special reading app doesn't seem to work with Kindle.
Thanks

amazon uses proprietary wrappers for its books so you would need to remove drm and then convert them to epub format, which the readers hub and most other readers use. Calibre can be set up to do both the drm removal and the format conversion.
I'm using the Nook app rather than the readers hub, which is incredibly slow.
Does the readers hub have s-pen integration that's especially good that Ididn't notice?

That doesn't really answer his question. No, your tab SHOULDN'T have a reader app. Or rather, it SHOULD - but T-Mobile chose to remove the reader apps. If you search around on the forums you can find APKs for the missing components, but I haven't found them to be completely bug-free. Laputa is a nice eReader. At least, it's my favorite.
My korean version has not only leaders hub, but also T store book and T store comic preinstalled and it was awesome..... Both ment to be korean online bookstore's kindle app but also works as a great reader. not support many features like moon+ reader but works stable. UI was best I ever seen
You were looking at reviews of the non-us version, In the US they strip all the good apps, and load our devices with bloatware.
So where could we find an installable version of the Samsung eBook ereader?
Kermit
It wont work unless you flash the euro software onto it. Already tried and was really disappointed. They advertise the reader on US TV and they don't even include it!

Format for e-books?

Does anyone know what file format(s) the kindle app and google books app uses?
Sent using my rooted LG Revolution
The kindle uses mobi files, not sure about google.
Most likely would use something like epub or pdf for Google I can't see Google locking down the ability to import book files.
But if it comes down to it Aldiko Book Reader has been a pretty good reader for me and offers option to import epub and pdf files and has access to free bookstores where you can get classic books like Alice in Wonderland and the likes.
Do a search on the market for "Aldiko Book Reader" as I can't post a link to it
Most pdf files i think
So I dropped some PDF and epub files on my internal storage but I can't get them to show up in google books. I am assuming I need to put them in a specific folder but I can't seem to find that folder. Anyone know what/where it is? Or what exactly I need to do to get them to show up in G-Books ?

Yup !
Kindle uses .mobi
and google books are in pdf
! for my ndroid i convert everything in epb !
I think Google uses epub drm'd.
Everyone has stated above already. I just want to let u know that you can get free ebook app.
You can use the free Calibre program, to manage and convert ebooks from one format to another.
John.

Unless the books are drm free, Google, nor any other reader besides the one it's locked down to, will not be able to view them.

Seeking A True eReader With Cloud

I'm looking for an eReader that has cloud functionality. Aldiko + Aldiko Sync & Mantano come close, but not close enough.
I mainly want something that supports PDF, ePub, Mobi
Syncs reading progress & bookmarks, annotations
Works on Android, but somehow can be used on PC with full sync of progress/bookmarks/annotations - even if its some kind of Chrome web app reader
Calibre library management support

fabrik?
Fabrik; also FBReader + FBReader Sync. FBReader has a Linux version; also a Windows version "coming soon".
What you really want is Kindle, though it only works with books you buy from Amazon. Does everything you want. Including a reader in your browser (maybe a PC app as well but I don't think so).

That's not entirely true. You can send anything to your Kindle app. Once you register to you get an email address. [email protected]. Send the document to that address and it appears in your Kindle within minutes.
Will the Kindle app allow me to import non-Amazon ePub/Mobi/PDF? I was under the impression that you had to use material that was purchased from them.
You can import your stuff into kindle but it won't stay synced across all devices.

Kindle app crashing

Just received P900 and left Google to restore apps. Sadly kindle app crashes very time on startup. Tried removing it and any associated files and installed again from play store but still failing. P900 is running Samsung standard image for 4.4.2
Anyone else running kindle app ok?
Was looking forward to reading some photography books on this large tablet rather than my laptop.

I do have occasional crashes on startup but otherwise it works fine. I am sure you will get it running one way or another.

Great to hear that it does work. Are you using the tablet in standard build or have you made some changes?
I'm not sure what one way or another options might be frankly. Any Sissons would be welcome.
For now I'm stripping DRM and converting Kindle books to epub format. Moon+ Reader reads the files well, especially like the two page landscape format. It also had the ability the read the books aloud (Google TCS downloaded voice packs are exceptional).

I have the same issue on first launch of the Kindle app, after that it is fine until it gets killed in the background and we do the dance all over.
I have not rooted yet, waiting for TWRP to get straightened out. I am surprised that uninstalling/reinstalling didn't do the trick.

Sure.
You need a PC (Windows, Linux or Mac) for this
Optionally install Kindle for Windows/OS X - avoid modern UI version (Kindle for Windows works on WINE for Linux)
Install Calibre - http://calibre-ebook.com/ - Windows 32/64 / Linux / OS X
Install drm python scripts - http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/drm-removal-tools-for-ebooks/
IF you are not using the Kindle application on the computer, you will need to obtain the keys for the drm scripts (see instructions in download)
Download books with Kindle application or transfer books from your Kindle device
Import books to Calibre as required - selected drm script runs first and removes DRM
Export books in any of the many available formats as desired, I use EPUB (note Kindle use a modified mobi format mostly)
Transfer to devices/cloud-storage/etc as required
You can set Calibre to monitor a directory and automatically import any new books, automatically convert them, and automatically distribute them as you wish.
Have fun.
