Ok so some background. im on cm7 and i accidentaly deleted the camera in SGS tools. i have been trying to get an .apk camera from sites but it wont let me install them, any ideas. btw i didnt like the camera from cm7 and prefered the one from stock fw on 2.1 thanks any help is appreciated.
You are not going to be able to use the 2.1 stock camera on cm7. No apps based on samsung source can be used on cm7. To get the cm7 camera back just reflash the nightly that you are on. There are camera apps in market that some prefer over cm7 such as camera 360 or vignette. Mui also has a camera that works on cm7. But no samsung based apps.

I'm on Trip's Gingerbread Miui but esp. with Videorecording the SE is much better then the Miui. Could please anyone extract it from the official ROM and offer a download?

SE Camera is the best camera application at the moment when it comes to X10,
but it will not work on any other ROM, it depends on SE framework, libs and drivers.
So it's a no-go, unfortunately.
not the answer I hoped for maybe when the first miui rom comes around that is build on the SE-ROM and has not just ripped the camera drivers from it, maybe it will work

Actually the camera drivers for GB are not yet available,
since SE hasn't released the sources for the new firmware,
so MiUI Camera is not using the official drivers at the moment.
We'll see how it goes when we get the actual drivers!
As far as MiUI ROM based on stock ROM... oh well...
There goes one more answer you will not like:
It's not going to happen.
MiUI is closed-source, there's no way to really mod it to the core,
let alone mix it with another firmware.
Sorry!
from rdannar's porting miui guide I assumed that Miui can be ported while preserving most of the original ROM files, however I never looked deeper into that. although I earn my money as Software Dev I never had time to cook something on my own.

You can -actually must- preserve some libs and other specific to the phone files
in order to make MiUI functional (that's exactly what a port is)
but modifying MiUI to its core in order to port its features to another firmware
is not possible because the source is not available publicly.
What I miss when I'm on MiUI is the SE Camera
and what I miss when I am on stock is MiUI statusbar toggles and the
wonderful theming opportunities! I guess it's one way or another!
I did had some hope because the SE Panorama apps also was patched to work on most ROMs,
I know many of us MIUI users have been having trouble with some of the bugs in the most recent MIUI release (2.1.20). I know the devs are busy working on ICS for MIUI, so a few bugs for these gingerbread releases is understandable.
If you're having problems also, then go ahead and flash back to 1.12.30. Since going back, all of my problems have been fixed!
I'm planning on sticking with this version until a more stable MIUI or MIUI ICS is released.
Hi Rod,
I have MIUI 2.1.20 and don't have so much problems with this yet.
Which big bugs/troubles you mean exactly.
yes.. even i am not having much issues with 2.1.20
oh no wonder I experience weirdness in my rom MIUI,
on the home screen can not portrait mode,
if so I'm flashing back just
Sorry for the delay guys. I think this is only an issue with the HTC Sensation as far as I can tell, but the Mod moved this thread to the general forum.
The problem was more or less a newbie mistake. I had flashed the leaked updated firmware 3.24 for my HTC Sensation, so I could flash a few different ICS roms. I found that the only MIUI rom that worked for me without any FC's or random reboots was the MIUI rom from 12-30.
I finally decided to flash the old official 1.17 firmware for the HTC Sensation. I found that after I did this the 2-1-20 MIUI rom worked flawlessly!
Again, just a basic newbie mistake.
For everyone looking for a fix to the default browser's rotation/flickering bugs on all current ICS ROMS - it looks like tonyp has posted a perfect fix in our development section HERE.
The thread currently confirms it to be working for HFS 1.9 and ParanoidAndroid build 5
Personally, I can confirm it works on EaglesBlood 4.04 Build 5.5
Instructions are posted in OP for installation!
(I take no credit for any of this, just trying to help spread the word)
Hey there!
I have been having a very hard trying to get any nice camera working on any custom ROM. Is there any ROM that has the stock camera? I switched from RN5Pro to POCOX3Pro, and almost every custom ROM for RN5Pro had the stock camera while none of the custom ROMs for POCOX3Pro that I have come across have the stock camera. Does anyone know why that is?
As far as I know recent PixelPlusUI uses MIUI Camera but they just changed to Google Camera in the latest update due to MIUI Camera causing lags
I use the ArrowOs and the stock camera is so awful.
Changed to gcam that is posted on this forum thread for gcam (think that was on post #95).
I've to say that my daughters loved the pics with gcam.
