Hi, I have a HTC ONE S. I recently dropped the phone from waist high.
Ever since, the phone been having spotty connection.
My SIM card is fine because i tried it in another phone.
I called TMOBILE and it is not on their end.
I am sure its a hardware problem.
How would I find the internal GSM Antenna Cable to make sure its connected right? I saw a video on how to disassemble the phone but it does not show where the Antenna is.
Please help.

Pop off the bottom plastic cover and look at the metal terminals that connect the mainboard to the inside of the plastic cover which is essentially the antenna. Do the same with the top cover. Behide the top cover here's six terminals in total to, the left, right, and above the camera. I don't remember how many there are behind the bottom. Take a small screw driver or toothpick or tweezers etc and push the terminals outwards from underneath (gently) so that they stick out more. Then replace your covers and see if that helps.

Hello Guys,
I was loking for hours to find Aluminum Covers for the DHD to replace the plastic parts but wasn't able to find them (if they even exist).
I only know that HTC never officially released them.
But since I saw the MAO Method they used on the One S I wanted the same for my DHD
Does anyone know a shop where I can find these covers made of aluminum?

You mean the doors? Won't find them because the clips to hold them in place wont function being made out of aluminum. Thus why only the immobile parts are made of it. If that is not what you are talking about, ignore me Not to mention the signal loss of grounded aluminum over the antennas would be crazy.

But would't it be possible to make the outer part of aluminum and just the clips of plastic?

possible yes, but the biggest factor would be that each plastic door covers an antenna. the led flash covers the gps, the battery covers the wifi, and the bottom door covers your cellular antennas. So replacing those with any kind of metal would connect them to the outer shell and ground them, almost completely shielding your phone from signal.
I just looked at the antenna except of gps (didnt want to open it all up). Wifi is just simply spaned mabe same with GPS. Only antenna that runs a bit through the door is the Sim/SD Door Antenna but if you would take a pretty flat and small cable you could run it through the left hole beside the two connectors. I dont know much about antennas but this could even make a stronger signal doesnt it?
p.s. The hole i mean is a bit upper left the two connectors (phone up side down)

the simple answer is no. antenna length is specific to the frequency it uses.
I understand you need a specific lenght of the antenna for certain frequenzies. So the cable that would be needed to connect the two connectors should have around the same lenght as the the Antenna in the plastic door.
Do you know how accurate this would have to be and how do they realize to use different frequenzies with one antenna GSM around 900 MHZ and WCDMA around 2,1 GHZ?
Anything can be done the real question is how much are you willing to spend?
And is it really worth the trouble to go through trying to fix it?
You should just get a new phone instead of changing the parts.

Has anyone yet taken a closer look at the lower plastic flap of the case? The upper one with the power key opens readily to accept the SIM Card, but there also is a gap of about the same size on the lower part of the phone, just below the beatsaudio logo. This one has no opening to pry open with the fingernail, but i could nudge and move it a little by ever so gently prying with a tiny flathead screwdriver. There also is a small hole pointing within this flap on the very bottom of the phone.
Q: What is the hole? Drainage hole in case the phone gets a soaking bath? Hardreset microswitch? Or is it maybe a releaser that unhooks the flap and allows for easy removal (similar to the holes beneath DVD-Drive trays to remove a disk if the Drive is broken)?
I am trying to figure this out as of now, but for the life of my I cannot find a slim enough needle to get into the hole. Guess I will need to grind / file something down to see if something happens when inserting it.
Has anyone investigated this yet? Anything interesting beyond or is it just a second flap with additional antennas and no access to interesting bits and pieces?
Wonder is it where the battery placed? Perhaps there are website trying to disassemble One S to see is it easy to replace the internal battery.
If you are referring to the tiny hole at the bottom of the phone, that hole is the mic. Wouldn't advice on putting anything in there

I don't yet have the HOS. But I can tell you that the little hole in the bottom of the HOS is the phone mic...
And be aware that doing what you intend to do will eventually void your warranty... but go right ahead... it's not my money if you screw things up...
I have taken apart enough devices to know what I am doing (except for the stupidity of not considering the mic hole because they have becme so invisible these days that its easy to just forget about them heh...).
I changed broken digitizers on DHD and did a complete disassembly / reassembly of a Desire Z that took an Soda bath and both devices work to this day. I am just hell of curios regarding the PCB layout of the One S, mainly for the storage question (soldered or aftermarket slotted microsd mounted under the hood)
And FYI, under the lower flap is just another boring antenna and another plastic cover, no more screws like behind the top flap. Do't have the right tools here to go any further without actually risking damage, but after easter I will have a closer look at it in the company. Unless iFixit comes out with a disassembly tutorial faster than that hehe.
Warranty? Well warranty. I've had a few devices now from HTC and none ever had to go to service. And with the knowledge of how to fix it comes the option of just paying for the OEM spare part from some retailer later on and fixing it yourself in 1 day instead of sending your phone in and waiting on it to come back for 1 week or 10 days.

Have you, when you put your SIM in the One S that there are a set of brown lines at the back of the sim-card cover?
What are these? There are 3 connection points on the phone that seems to connect to these. Are these the antennas?
If so, when you have bad reception/slow GPS etc, have you checked that this cover are snuggly and correctly fitted back on? That there are no dirt on the connectors?
Was wondering the same thing myself. I'm tempted to try and lift the connectors up a little to see if that will improve the signal.

Yes it is the antennae.
My N5 just got dropped in a wet place (definitely wasn't the toilet!). I grabbed it real quick and switched it off.
I have taken the back panel off to dry it out (will leave for several days before I touch it again).
When prising off the back panel, I have damaged one of the contacts on what appears to be the speaker module.
Can anyone tell me what the metal strip in the attached is connected to? Is it the mic?

Any bright ideas of what I can repair it with?
And which antenna is it (it's the one with the black wire on the right hand side when viewed from the rear).

The little one is 2G/3G I think. The bigger one is 4G/LTE I think.
I'd really love to know to fix this too...a blob of solder? A strip of tin foil? No idea!
The metal strip on the outside of the speaker module has come away on mine too when removing the back cover...only a very small section because I noticed and tried to minimise damage.

It didn't make any difference to my signal when I had it like that.
For other reasons though, I replaced the speaker module. This was really easy and the part was really cheap. Probably the easiest way to repair it.

I can confirm this too...I had no loss of signal either, even with a large part of the foil strip missing.

After a long time of finding out why I don't have a cell signal anymore I finally found something that could be causing the problem.
If you take off the back panel, there are these gray lines on the bottem of the device, there's a path on the motherboard from the white and black antenna cables all the way up to these lines.
On my device these gray lines have a hole in them on both side. So I figured this might be why I don't have a signal, don't see what else it could be.
Here's a comparison of a new device and mine http://imgur.com/a/CuOZL
Could this be a possible explanation? If so, can I fix this at home or do I need to get a new part?

I had the same gaps in mine, but no problems with signal. When you first removed the back cover, there is some glue there which will have pulled this off.
I changed the speaker module (for a completely different reason), it's a pretty easy job. The part is quite cheap (I paid about £12), so may be worth a try.

Thanks. I guess I'll just buy new antenna cables and the part with the lines on them and hope for the best.
Before you do that, just make sure everything is connected properly. The daughter board is at the bottom, under the speaker module (the part with the lines on) and there is a narrow ribbon connection that runs up the left hand side, connecting to the main board just above the battery.
Try pushing down firmly on this connection.
I'll try this, I have actually replaced the daughterboard with another one but it didn't have any succes. But it might just be a bit loose.

Same thing happened on mine, it worked fine though.
The speaker module is pretty cheap, just replace that if it doesn't work.

I replaced that module and signal strength improved a lot. Also the speakers were cleaned and it improved the sound volume too.
