MugenPower 5500mAh battery buy or pass? or get something else maybe? - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

I'm wondering if anyone has actually used this battery. I would like to know if this is something I should get for my GS4 or not. is there something better than this battery out there? Just would like some reviews on this or other extended batteries. thanks!

I wouldn't recommend these batteries at all. I had bought a pair of these batteries for my E4GT and they would lose charge very quickly. I would recommend the hyperion 5200mah battery I've heard very good things about it and am going to order one of those myself.

Thank you for your input, I'm going to go look at that battery right now I really appreciate the feedback this is just the kind of things I was hoping to get.

Costea has written a good review on MugenPower 5500mAh battery here . Its mostly on the company because the battery has not launched. You will get 3 batteries of that capacity of Hyperion so I probably believe Mugen is of very high quality.

I've had good experience with Mugen but decided to go with the wireless charging option for the S4. Want to keep the slimness

Yeah you do make a good point, I didn't actually think this one was that BIG compared to some of them out there, correct me if I am wrong, but that's why my interest was in this specific one. Btw how is the wireless charging? I have never had anything like that but have thought about getting it a couple of times

I'm just waiting for the bits I ordered form Amazon. When I try it out I'll post. The receiver is supposed to fit under the current back. I got the 1000 mA charger so I'm curious to see how it works.
All the bigger batteries add thickness and devices more are so large I don't really want more in hand.

3800 mAh Extended Batteries

Anyone had tried or bought the 3800 mAh batteries on Ebay or Amazon that care to provide a review ?
The only reviews of them I can find is on Amazon and it doesn't sound too good with the battery overheating
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Exten...U0LA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1325132198&sr=8-3
You will need another back cover for the battery as it looks thicker compare to our.

Yupe it does come with a cover. Only covers I've seen for those battery are in black as well. I have the white skyrocket. Would love to have extra battery capacity as I ride with my phone listening to music on bluetooth for long rides...
Am I missing something? Cauz i see international sgs2 there so back cover belongs to that sgs2. Right?

Sorry I keep looking at the ebay battery and it's battery panel is definitely much bigger compared to the Amazon battery that I posted on my earlier post.

Cover is not for our phone. Battery might work but the cover definitely wont.
My extended battery from my infuse fit right into my skyrocket. 3500mah. But the extended battery cover defiantly didn't fit. I really don't like the covers that are out right now for the extended battery, Im going to wait till they make one like the slopped one thats on my infuse.

Out of curiosity, we wouldn't be able to charge these extended batteries without a standalone charger right? I was told this was because our stock batteries have NFC built in with them and these extended ones don't... So when u connect ur phone to your standard usb charger, it just boot loops... Can anyone confirm this?

I like how the case looked on the PowerSkin rather than just an extended door panel.. I also have a CaseMate case. Does anyone know of any other brand thats reliable that is similar to the PowerSkin and has a longer battery life?

the powerskin is an addon to the 1850 battery in the skyrocket already so it gives you a total of 3350MAH, plus you get a higher quality battery so in the end its worth it.

Other members on XDA rated the Power Skin to be a bad choice for an addon battery. There are many post and threads regarding the charging of the battery becoming defective, the Power Skin causes the original battery to fail over time, etc. Multiple post regarding why the Power Skin is an awful product, but to me is the ONLY one that looks decent rather than an extended door panel.. If only they can make these extended batteries slim like the oem but pack a good ol' 3800 mah in it.

I can understand if it's built shoddily that it can end up frying its own battery, but how would a powerskin ruin the internal battery? Any links you have handy? Lots of threads with powerskin in them...

I am ordering one of these right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-3000-Ex...GQLK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1334418633&sr=8-5
I talked to someone that used it and said that it worked just fine. It's 3000mAh which is more than double the stock (1450 I believe). I would ask you to wait for me to review it but mine wont come for a week or so because I used cheap shipping. And yes, this battery is bigger, as you can see it comes with a replacement door.

The external charguer doesn't looks bad. Does it really has 9000mAh? Usually this kind of chinese stuff have the half of capacity that they claim.

The max capacity that you can fit under the original battery cover do not usually exceed 1800-2000 mAh in general, everything higher requires either a bigger cover or can be considered as total fake advertisement

Spare batteries

So im looking for a spare battery to use, what would you guys recommend? I read some good reviews about the anker battery but i dont like how its bigger and it makes the back bulge. Ive seen some ebay OEM batteries for a good price and also found these for extremely cheap http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-x-3000mAh..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item51aae2b2ed
Now i know these probably wont last as long as the oem battery but my question is is there any downside or long term damage that can occur to the phone itself by using these sub par batteries?
I'm also in the market for spare batteries + wall charger.. I had 3 for my old HTC Incredible, and it was an absolute luxury. However, I had to try 2 or 3 different companies before I found some that didn't lose their capacity

99% of the batteries on ebay seem to come from China/Hong Kong and these come from nanuet ny.
I don't know why I mention this but it did play a part in my deciding on these
If they suck, I'll have wasted $11 and I'll go ahead and order the onite or anker batteries
I'll let everyone know after I receive them
I bought the ones off of OP's link to Ebay as well. I'll post with impressions once I get them in. 3 batteries and a wall charger for $12 is nearly too good to be true... but I'm only out $12. We'll see.

It's exactly the same as the factory 2600mah battery,..I've done a comparison test and posted some screen shots of my results, I think I titled it Onite Battery Review ,.. so yes it's exactly the same size as the factory battery , they also make extended batteries,.I'll be testing a 5200mah soon, and there making an even bigger one than that soon ,.it's definitely a good battery

Not at all,..if they sucked I would say so as a beta tester that's what your suppose to do if, they send you a product test and you just lie about it, what's the point really? ..I don't take sides and I'm not getting paid to post positive reviews ,I got a battery, tested it, posted the screen shots,..I am in NO way endorsed by them lol.. just read other reviews or ask someone who has the same battery how they like it,.. Anker and all those other companies make good batteries also,...certainly a LOT better the trash you're gonna find on eBay,(which I have 4 from past phones , 2 which don't even work, the other 2 are 4500mah extended batteries that barely last 5 hours)

I'm always wary of non-OEM batteries. There are some good ones out there, but most of them are Chinese junk that burn out quickly. My theory has always been that if a single OEM battery doesn't last long enough for you, buy a second OEM battery and keep it charged for a quick swap. The Nexus Extended battery fits the Skyrocket and extends battery life by, in my experience, 20-25% depending on usage. With two of those, you're set for a day and a half of heavy usage before a charge is needed--and that's assuming you don't have a charger for whichever one isn't being used anyway.

Replace Battery?

Battery Monitor Widget Pro now suggests I'm getting 1700mAh or less, should I replace the battery? If so, pay someone or do it myself? I've heard it's pretty simple to do it myself.
Its very doable. If youre up to it, i read in another thread today that when replacing your battery you should be careful because it might be glued down hard, try to avoid straining the original battery.
According to a couple reviews from Google, replacing the battery is quite easy. A rule of thumb would be to get a battery pulled from a new device since I don't think Google sells manufactured Nexus 4 batteries because it's "non-replaceable". Just be careful and follow a guide on Youtube.

Google doesn't sell batteries, nor do they make phones. The Nexus 4 is made by LG, and the battery is available from many sources, brand new, OEM. Not "pulled from a new device". That's just absurd. Same battery the Optimus G uses. Don't pay more than $20 or so.
Are those values from Battery Monitor Widget Pro reliable? Because mine is showing ~1500 mAh

LG*. My mistake. However, I have searched for batteries for the Nexus 4 that are claimed to be "OEM" and according to reviews they never hold a full charge that a battery from out-of-the-box would hold. Apparently they are just listed as "OEM" and "New", but either have already been used or of poor build quality. Getting a battery "pulled from a new device" off eBay has proven for me for other devices to be much more reliable at holding a longer charge. I can see why it might be risky or slightly unreasonable, but I don't think that it is absurd.

I wish they were were. Because on my phone, that app reads my battery as having 2099000mAh. Apparently the OEM battery I got off eBay is actually powered by Uranium 238. Too bad the real world usage doesn't confirm that theory.

Finding a Nexus4 good quality battery is a real challenge in my experience. The one currently in my nexus4 is supposed to be an OEM, but obviously it is not (*very* poor battery life). I contacted LG and they tell me that I cannot get this part from LG, they don't sell it
If anyone has tips, I would be very grateful
Legit OEM?
Are the batteries on ebay a good buy? im pretty sure anything under 20 isnt oem or new. im iffy to get this: http://ebay.to/ZiK14v

Looks reputable to me. I go by feedback% and numbers when trusting an eBay seller for stuff like this.

Look my info, its ok or not?
Seems better than mine... I definitely need a replacement... And I am morally opposed to simply replacing the whole phone frequently, due to the resources required like rare Earth's and tantalum.

Reviews on Amazon are..... Iffy.... Some good some bad and none report back about how long the new battery holds charge
I need help finding one as well.
Just like you guys in the US, struggling to find a decent one with reviews. Looked on Amazon, Ebay and a few other places.
If anyone has any links to one with good reviews that would be great :good:

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't think we will. Our phones battery is not removable and it was never intended by LG for it to be replaced. Which means that the only batteries we are gonna get is dodgy ones probably. The last thing I need is buying an 'original', battery and waking up the next morning to find a burnt hole where my phone once was :good:

Well, I just replaced my battery with this one: http://www.amazon.de/Akku-BL-T5-Goo...8&qid=1412345320&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+4+akku
I am sorry, that the page is German - but you can see, that the selling shop is the official LG Electronics Shop on Amazon
thought these phones use a polymer battery which has a very high charge and discharge cycle.
You can try checking your local LG service center if they have it. That is where I got mine for about $25, but I'm in Thailand though so YMMV.
