use cwm backup..... to take backup.... then restore with advance restore > data ...... it will work 100% with all apps with its data......
For rom backup-use cmw backup
For contacts-use phone deflaut backup i.e. export to sd card
For msgs and apps-use titanium backup pro.
For images and other data- just copy paste your data in ur pc.
For gaming scores and apps stats-cut ur folder of android data and paste it later on(it may nt prove tp bw useful in all cases.)

Id like to test out some of these new roms and being new to this what is the best way to backup what i need (apps, logs, texts, etc) so that upon new flash i can just restore?
I bought titanium backup and have nandroid so if someone could kindly outline the process that would be a huge help!!!

Ummm lets see.
-Titanium backup backs up your apps data.
-ROM Manager makes a full backup of your phone at that time.
Run both and you are set so you can flash whatever you like.

Yes use Titanium Backup and back up apps&data, be careful about backing up system stuff as it can mess up the ROM you may try to flash. Use ROM manager and you can make a complete backup of your current ROM. This way you can restore if needed. Read and understand before you try anything and you will be OK...

in sd card you will find a seperate folder for app data if you have installed apps on sd.....if its in internal memory go to data-data and find that app folder check screenshots...and backup that folder before flashing a new rom and paste the folder back where it was to get all app data and setting...this is a lenghty procedure...to save time just copy all the folders instead of single one...this will serve as a app data and setting backup
dont forget to press thanks.....
bricking chances are zeroing these days....i am creating a seperate thread for do's and dont's of flashing read that....

use titanium backup!!
no need of separate apps to take backups of different things...
just a few clicks, and you have all your apps + personal data + app data + cache (optional) backed up, and ready to restore...
and titanium auto restores its data (from previous roms) when you install it in a new rom...
Thanks for the suggestion
I will includE it too

first basically backup your rom by using clockwork mod??
what if you dont have CWM?
(Arc with official ICS, not rooted, locked BL)
For those who already installed it. Like says in the instructions i cant use Titanium Backup for restoring app data. Is there any other way to do a backup of that data and restore it?? I want to update to v8 but i need to know something that works before doing the flash.
Thanks!

You don't need Titanium Backup for restore. Restore do with Clockworkmod Recovery (CWM). When system booted, press Power button
a few seconds, choose Reboot, and then Recovery. When Recovery open, choose backup and restore, and then Backup. When is Backup
finished, reboot phone and that's it.
After of this in File Manager in file clockworkmod you will find file Backup.

Backup is OK. You now don't need restore.
For resore go in CWM, choose backup and restore and choose restore. When it is ower, reboot phone.

Hello everyone...
First of all, i'll like to apologise if this thread is already in existence cos i dont really know how to search through over thousands of thread created. I love trying out types of custom rom i feel wld be great. But everytime i install, i'll have to start installing my apps (backed up apk's) manually. Could anyone help me with any app which i can use to backup installed apps so after flashing a new rom, would just have to restore the backup which would install all app and its settings instead of doing it manually all from the start. i googled and downloaded an app Nandroid Manager but i dont figure how to use it.. It wont set a backup location. Any help???

Not very familiar with nandroid back up but i am using titanium backup(buy it, worth every penny), it give u option to both backup your app+data.
I think the free version has the same option.
There is also this app. i used recently on a game(pudding monsters) and it restored the app with the data.
Try both and see which works best for u.
+1 Titanium Backup do it well even free version
You can also do it yourself by doing a copy paste of your data/app folder
Titanium is the best way you can choise

This can be done by two way
1) Titanium Backup - This will ensure all your app and data will be restored on new ROM in single click
a) Backup all user app+data of old ROM
b) Create a Update.zip through Titanium backup app
c) Flash the Update.zip through Recovery (Post installation of new ROM) and enjoy :good:
2) Nandroid backup - By using this option , entire ROM can be backed up (App,Data everything as on date). However this can be use only if you are going back to experience the same ROM again.
1) Through Recovery take the backup of entire ROM
2) Through Recovery restore
3) If you are on S-ON then post restore flash the boot.img manually by using Fastboot command before rebooting the phone. It is must to do step or else phone will be trapped in bootlap
I always ensure following before installing a new ROM
1) Back up of Contacts, SMS/MMS and Call logs by using My Backup Pro app
2) Creating the Update.zip file of all user app+data as on date so nothing can be missed out (Not even save games of Temple Run)
And if I want to go back again to the earlier ROM then I used Nandroid backup. Which reduce a hell lots of efforts.
