[Q] super cid issue/ adb issue - HTC One S

i was going to s-off the this morning and flash illusion 2.0 but instead i am beating my head off the keyboard. i have been reading all day. i have like 12 tabs open and my main problem is that adb isn't working. not sure what i'm doing wrong. i need to get to supercid. instructions seem easy enough. i go to command prompt, change my directory, everything good here just as usual. when i type "adb shell" i get "error: device offline" don't know what i'm doing wrong. thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. First make sure ADB debugging in advanced options is checked. Next try booting into fastboot. If your on stock try putting it into charge only mode. Try the multiple different ways

do you mean usb debugging? or is adb debugging different? because i don't see adb debugging anywhere.

Check these things right here in the picture. Have USB debugging enabled and select root access and choose apps and adb

It's usb debugging that you need to check. You mentioned that you are on a custom rom ... Is it sense based or aosp? I was still on the stock ics rom when I changed to super cid. Everything went just fine, although I didn't proceed to do Facepalm s-off immediately. I did flash cm10, and came back to finish s-off a couple of weeks later. Nearly drove myself crazy, until I realized it works best when done on a sense rom. Flashed a stock rooted rom, and it literally took about 10 minutes to finish s-off. Restored my cm10 backup, and all is well.

I really appreciate the info. I'm on bb8, which isn't sense. I have USB debugging on. Should I be on a stock rpm to get supercid or just for s-off? My problem is adb won't my phone.

ok so, back on task...i can not get adb to work. i'm trying to get supercid. i can't find anything on adb. i get "error: device offline"

what do you mean by tried putting it into fast boot? & by that i mean i thought it had to be in fastboot. also, i believe i have sdk set up but that's maybe where i'm going wrong. in cmd i actually got it to say "daemon started successfully" which it's suppose to, but then it said "error: device not found" not sure what i'm doing wrong.

i serched the android sdk guide and it looks like i have everything in order. i will dl the gn toolkit. also, i've heard that some things work better with a sense rom. i did switch to trickdroid, which has wifi issues and will not be a daily driver, but i can't remember if it was with scid or s-off or something else.

[Q] Help rooting 2.3.4 At&t

Finally jumped the ship from iOS to Android. I've been looking around the forums and all over the internet, but I can't seem to find a way to root my phone? I'm on 2.3.4, i9020a, and build number is GTJ61. I've tried multiple guides, but none of them seem to work. Is it because I'm on Vista, or am I just missing something here? I'd appreciate any help.

Yes, whenever I try fastboot OEM unlock, it just sits there, waiting for device.

"Waiting for device" I do only remember from two situations:
a) missing USB drivers
b) haven't turned on "USB debugging" in Android settings (Menu > Apps > Development)
b) being the more probable reason
I've turned on USB debugging. Maybe I don't have the correct drivers installed?

that's probably it, or you might have fastboot in the tools folder of the sdk. I had to move it into the platform-tools folder to get fastboot to work if I remember correctly. type fastboot devices in command prompt to see if your phone is listed there.
Its not listed there.

Wifi,Odin, kirles problems

I bought the phone from someone already rooted and ran into some problems.....
I installed the correct drivers for this phone off one of the xda forums for flashing. I also noticed when setting it up the wifi will not obtain the IP Address. It is running firmware 2.2.1
Odin will recognize the phone and start to flash but then get held up at the "setup connection" tried multiple roms
Kies when It is downloading binary files it gets an error
I fallowed all instructions to the letter, I have never ran into this problem in all the phones I have flashed , any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The one time I had that problem I just reset my wifi router. If you're using encryption (I hope you are), make sure the settings on the phone match the settings on the wifi router (WPA, WPA2, TKIP/AES, etc.) & that you're using the right pass code.

If you're wanting to get it updated to Gingerbread, I'd suggest following FBis251's Gingerbread Starter Pack or using one of Bhundven's One-clicks. The latter option only requires that you have Java installed.

That's odd. That would prevent ODIN from working for sure. If it's rooted, download and install a terminal emulator from the market. Then open the terminal and issue these commands:
su

That should get you into download mode unless something's really hosed.

Cool, let me know how it goes. I'm thinking that if we can get you into download mode that getting you updated to GB might help a lot.
If you're not looking to go that route and want to stay Froyo, you might want to look at GPS Aids in the market. It has a "hard reset" feature that might be of help.

Is it plugged into the same USB port as before? ODIN & Win7 are funny about that some times. If that doesn't help you might have to power it off & back on to get ODIN to see it:
Power off the phone
Unplug the USB cable
Remove the battery
Plug the USB cable into the computer and the phone
Hold down the volume up and volume down keys
While holding those down, re-insert the battery
See if that gets you back into download mode and/or recognized by ODIN. Also make sure you're using ODIN 1.85.

Ok so I would just use that stock ICS ROM given with extra one then instead of hitting flash boot.img hit flash "the name of the ROM"? And also it says USB debugging must be on but how do I turn that on when the phone doesn't boot? I know these are a lot of annoying questions but I must fix his phone like I said I'll donate.

It might be worth starting again and following the whole thread.
With 4EXT,you can also use "Smartflash" to install the ROM.
Then, you don't have to worry about the boot img. part

Hey.. Btw.. For you to do the extra 1 step.. Usb debugging is not required..
See in the steps of the guide
adb commands are used.. To go to bootloader (adb commands only require.. Usb debugging)
What you do is skip the adb commands.. And you manually go to bootloader.. That's all
Rest of commands will work from bootloader

Can not push recovery to HOS

Hi,
I recently relocked my HOS for the official JB from HTC. I have come to say it sucks monkeyballs. Now I tried to unlock, push recovery from TWRP and CM10 on my phone. Well, I can not do those things.
I can succesfully unlock my phone (wich it is now) but i can not push any recovery. It just stands there in Command Promt: waiting for device. And my device keeps in fastboot... I don't know what I can do
I have used Hasoon's tool, used it solely via cmd and fastboot. It just doesn't work .
Can anyone help me out?
