unlock, recovery and custom rom - HTC Sensation

hi, I just got a htc one s and flashed cm10.1.
a friend got interested with his senstation xe and I asked me if I could flash it.
I tried to find a guide but didn't find one which describes easy every step.
so I just want to know if it is the same like for one s.
1. update senstation xe to newest stock rom
2. unlock bootloader with htcdev
3. fastboot flash recovery
4. fullwipe
5. install rom, gapps
6. fastboot flash boot.img
just need a simply yes or no, if no I will continue to search a guide.

yes u are correct. u could update it to the ICS update if u wanted, that way u would have the latest radio.
edit: forgot to say if he still has the old gb software and hboot 1.17 r something, u could just s-off using revolutionary.

he is already on ics, so I could do it like I said??

Ok I am going to ask the obvious questions here.
1. Is the file name PG58IMG.zip? If not the stock recovery will not flash it.
2. Do you have the file on the root of your SD card? If not the stock recovery will not detect the file. If you do not know what the root of your SD card is, it imeans it is not in a folder.
3. Have you tried re downloading just in Case it is a bad down load?
4.have you checked your SD card with a reader to make sure it is a readable card?
5. Are you positive your bootloader is unlocked?
Edit:
6. Have you tried flashing it via ADB fastboot commands?

Ok if the bootloader is unlocked your Hboot would read either of the following.
S-offed via Revolutionary will say Revolutionary Shipped S-off or something like that, you will know if it is there.

Yes if you flash the official OTA file it will remove root. You only have to super CID if you want to be able to flash official ROMs from other regions besides your own. But saying that it is still a good idea to Super CID as some Custom ROMs may require it depending on what the ROM base is.

It will otherwise your gonna have to stay whit sense 3.0 roms and i think 3.5 aswell just root get s-off grt recovery flash rom power off go back into hboot whit the firmware on root of your sdcard it will ask for update do it reboot and enjoy and you can do supercid later if you wish..

HTC Sensation s/w Brick?

my friend installed Rom from CWM and it stuck on HTC Logo (i guess boot loop)
after some research i told him to do
we found out that he phone is S-ON
is it possible to fix this kina of Brick?
i dont need links or something like that just a possible route how to fix it..
Thank you..
You have to flash boot.img from rom zip file from fastboot "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without quotes or enable smartflash in 4ext recovery... Do you have matching fw?

you may have to flash the boot.img manually
that's why it's not booting
in order to get S-OFF i need to install the Boot.img?
i cant just install Stock FIrmware (if possible)
and unlock Bootloader"?
S-OFF is a different story
i suppose you have already unlock bootloader
what fw do you have?
can i take Customize Rom Install it via CWM then install extract boot.img from Zip install it via Fastboot?

Did you take a nandroid backup before flashing custom ROM? if yes then restore it, if no then that was silly
If no then there are 2 things you can do:
1. Flash a GB ROM then S-OFF using revolutionary.io method
2. Flash a 3.32 or 3.33 RUU then flash custom ROM
Out of the two I would go with no. 1 because it will save you a great deal of headache later on because revolutionary S-OFF is easier and more user friendly than JuopunutBear
we manage to fix the Brick by using this Thread

[Q] Stock HBoot to replace JB HBoot

Hello all,
So finally, I have managed to S-OFF my phone using JuonoputBear (I never get this spelling right!). Downloaded the latest version for Ubuntu and can't believe I only did the wire trick once and it was done.
But anynow, to my surprise, the JB tool went on installing the JB hboot itself. Initially I thought it would ask me to install it or not and I would refuse it but... it didn't even give me the option. So now I am stuck with the JB hboot which I dont want.
So the questions is, is there any way I can revert back to the stock hboot?
Thanks guys, all your help made it possible for me to S-OFF my phone.
Regards
just to know that with patched hboot you are fully unlocked and you can use all fastboot commands
i don't find a reason to return to official hboot

Thanks for the reply. The reason I wanted to go back to stock hboot was that its highly unlikely that I would be using those extra fastboot commands. Besides, I dont like the Juoponutbear logo on top of the hboot.
Also, now that I am S-OFF, I am kind of gone sensitive to installing any ROM. I intend to install Android Revolution HD ROM but I dont want to flash anything wrong on my device like Radio etc. I only want to flash whats need to run that new custom ROM. I guess that doesn't include the kernel as I already have ICS stock ROM.
Can anyone point me to the right direction? Where I can find the steps to install custom ROM without any risk of flashing something wrong?
Thanks.

Hi,
There is no way you can "Accidently" install a radio.
You are not in bootloader for any length of time normally,so ,it should not matter what is written at the top.
That is just the way Juoponutbear operates and leaves it's mark.
It is the only way to s-off for you,so ,you are stuck with it.
Unless you s-on again.
As for flashing ROMS,put it on the root of your sd card, choose zip, install zip.
That's it.
EDIT:
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
If you flash Kohr-Ah's Universal 3.33 firmware, does it say Universal at the top?

Is that all? I thought that once you have flashed the zip package, you have to extract the "boot.img" from that zip package of the ROM and flash it separately?

Sorry I had to come back on this one. I was checking the Android Rev. HD thread and in the download section it said it is necessary to flash new firmware package before flashing this ROM/ And the firmware package also contains radio flashing.
Since I am on Stock ICS at the moment and my firmware is 3.32. Do I still need to flash my firmware?

[HOW TO] Flash phone with HBOOT 1.27 and Android 4.0.3

Hi All,
I have been reading various guides on how to flash my HTC Sensation it is currently running the stock ICS 4.0.3 and using HBOOT 1.27. I would like to update it to Jellybean and I have been looking at the CyanogenMod for this or if someone else has any other suggestions. With the current software my phone is running really slow and lags.
I am really confused on what the best procedure is and how to do it, I have found this utility but if someone could give me some hints to where I start.
I think I may have got the drift of some things:
1. Go to HTCDEV and unlock the bootloader
2. Take S-OFF using JuopunutBear
3. Install 4EXT
4. Become SuperCID
5. Flash new Jellybean ROM
Options 1 and 2 seem OK but I am not sure how to proceed with the other steps and if it is the way I should be doing it and it is is all possible with my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for all your help, I managed to flah Cyanogen 9 the stable version which is Android Version 4.0.4, when version 10 is stable or stops going nightly I will flash to that to get JellyBean unless there is a stable ROM anyone knows about.
Also I see that this ROM has ROM Manager installed and you can flash ClockwordMod Recovery is it worth doing that or shall I just stick to 4EXT?
And
If I was to flash another ROM I guess I just do it from 4EXT and will this wipe all my data and apps again?

You are correct. Flash Roms from 4ext. You can back up your apps and the data with titanium backup.
By the way, albino's cyanogenmod 10.1 is labeled as stable. It has really good performance and has pretty much no bugs.

SmartFlash is, in a way, the easiest way to flash roms s-on.
ALTERNATIVELY, to flash roms s-on (without smartflash), say with some other recovery,
Extract boot.img from whichever rom you want to flash. It typically resides in the kernel folder.
Enter fastboot mode and use:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
.

Can i flash this thing?

Hey guys! My friend recently bought a Sensation XE 2nd hand... It had its. Official firmware of 2.3.5 Gingerbread.. I noticed it was. S-OFF.. But no recovery (got the download and phone icon only when i got there).
The bootloader is LOCKED.
It had its. HBOOT as 1.18.0(something - i dnt remember but 1.18 is confirmed). Yes it was "pyramid".
I wanna know if I can flash roms in it? And if. So. Please answer these:
1. How can i flash the recovery? Seeing its S-OFF and all.. Is there an app to flash? And also the recommended RECOVERY for that purpose.
2. Can i flash ROMs on it after doing the recovery? Since its S-OFFed and all.
3. Also will it run into trouble seeing the Hboot no. Is too old.
4. It's a T-Mobile branded phone so keep that in mind.

I didn't got my hands on the device just yet. Was wanting to ask that the phone definitely is on the Hboot version 1.18.xxxx... Is it too low of the model number? And flashing a JB ROM after what rzr86 said to a GB phone.. Won't it cause compatibility issues? Please have a minute to reply me
