Hello,
I'm currently running Paki ROM on my Explorer and my problem is that whenever I download a widget from the HTC Hub it completely downloads but then it does not install, giving the error " Unable to install ! ".
This is not the case in JaggyRom V4.1 as I managed to download all the widgets that I wanted.
Moreover, I had copied all the widgets that I had downloaded from HTC Hub in my SD-CARD (When I was using JaggyRom V4.1). But when I try to normally install them I got the error "App not installed", and when I pushed the apps to System/app I still got the same error, even restarting did not help. I even tried flashing the widgets, but still they didn't work.
Please help me as I really need these widgets and apps :
1. Weather (4x4).
2.People (4x4) - The one which shows the contact pictures.
3.Peep - To get twitter in my Friend Stream.
Please get me these apps if possible or at least help me fix the issue.

Hi all, first time post so I hope I've put it in the right place!
Problem I have is that I can't seem to update the YouTube app on my Desire,
Currently running the OpenDesire ROM (4.0.36) (Phone is rooted)
I try to update or/and install from the App store and I get installation unsuccessful. I've done a bit of searching and a lot of people have had success by loading Titanium Backup, uninstalling the app, re-booting and then installing from the app store. This doesn't work for me as when I re-boot, for some reason the app and the .apk file is back there.
This isn't a major drama, just mildly annoying I guess so if anyone can help, I'd be very appreciative.

i have the same problem. It is downloading and trying to install but then it says installation error.

I've rooted my phone and im using HyperSensation v0.8(minimal) ROM. I cant get the live wallpaper option!
I've looked up the WHOLE of google and i cant seem to figure out what to do.
Even the HyperSensation ROM thread that has a LiveWallpaperPicker.apk, doesn't work.
Please help me! I tried pushing the .apk to system/app using root explorer with Mount R/O. The pushing was successful. Tried installing it. Tried rebooting it.
Nothing works. I cannot get the option.

if you scroll on hyper sensation rom thread u will see a addon for live wallpaper.oops u tried that already.
check if its a flashable zip if it isnt u need to make sure u set permission when pushing files using root explorer

I think live wallpaper will kill your BATTERY LIFE!
Download a live wallpaper from the market then (if on CM7) menu>more>wallpapers i believe
I recently switched to Crash V6 XXLRG 4.0.4 ROm which is absolutely superb
The only thing I miss is the stock Samsung 4 x 1 news & weather widget.
Having saved it from a previous LQ2 stock ROM, I have reinstalled and can use the associated app but the widget itself did not install.
Is there any way of being able to install it?

Hi - I think so in so far as I used the install app function on CWM and clicked yes when the blurb came up about it being a system app and did I want to replace it...

Thanks Dr Ketan & afilopou - finally worked out how to do this and have moved it to the system app folder, and changed the permission to the same as all the other apps in the folder, namely -rw-r-r-- but widget still does not appear in the add to home screen widget gallery ...
Am I doing something wrong?
I would welcome any other suggestions!
You did it correctly.
And you need to reboot
another thing are you sure you are not using autostart or same application and you have disable to load this appl on boot? this also cause not to display on widget list.

2 steps forward, 1.5 steps back!
I have updated CRASH to v7, widget now installed, however neither the widget or app will actually work - I get an error message saying "network error - try again later" which means I can't acess any news at all!
NB. Wif/data/downloads are working for everything else
There must be a way of rectifying this?!

Miraculously started working of its own accord - nice when it happens this way round as opposed to things that were working suddenlynot doing so...

Hello, I like stock News and Weather widget from android 4.0.x on my SGNote, but in stock android 4.1.2 this widget is not. Is possible to download this widget as apk and to install? I have no root acces. So I can only install it as usual application. Thx for any help.

Can anyone help me install "FaceBook for HTC Sense" i tried to manually tried to install it but nothing happened and now it is giving me an error on every startup "the process com.htc.bg has stopped", i am using Desire XS version 1.1, a nice rom but it doesn't include this app

Depending on how you do it, you`ll succeed or fail..
facebook is not a single app in a sense rom,but- you can call it a small environment.
It is been build of a several components and only all of them together with right permissions
guarantee a proper functioning of an app...
If the rom you`re using does not have a facebook environment,
is possible to try to borrow it from another sense 4.1 rom,
one more thing: one cannot simply install system app,
but it has to be pushed in to a proper location either via ADB, or with any root explorer.
Just remember location of the files- where they were in the rom you`ve pulled them from,
put them in that same locations of the rom you`re using,fix permittions, reboot and pray
for success

can you suggest me any free app??
I think theres a problem with the script in aroma when u install the rom. The files for the friendstream with facebook and twitter are inside the rom zip but even when u check them to istall them they dont. so u have to push them manually to your phone. open the zip file from the rom and copy the files from the folder named "Extra". you should see the folders from friendstream facebook and twitter there. you should push them with adb or a root explorer to your phone under the folder /system/app and set the right permissions. reboot your phone and you will see the friendstream app again in your app drawer.

i tried those files but got error every time so i extracted it from the ICE DS.zip the previous rom i was using, and it is working fine now :fingers-crossed:

You may need to restore your stock firmware to fix it now... If you decide to go that route, Here's a guide on that,

STEP 1 ) Root your device. (visit THIS)
STEP 2 ) Download Attached Files
STEP 3 ) Install RootExplorer on your device and copy attached file in system>>app with permissions as "rw--r--r--" and restart your phone.
Also delete the "Live Wallpapers.odex" and "LiveWallpapersPicker.odex" files before doing this.
Delete preexisting files with same name (if there are)
Great! This worked like a charm, thank you so much. I have rooted my phone to uninstall a few preinstalled apps. Each tie I start a new app I get a notification of root access granted. How can I stop that because its annoying and honestly worrying as if I have messed up something. Can you tell me what are the benefits of a rooted phone and its disadvantages? Plus how can I unroot it and will it be as if it was never rooted? Thank you so much

You will get the option on unrooting your device in the same app "Framaroot"
Advantages :
You can control your system as you want
You can do anything with your stock apps, themes, wallpapers, tones etc.,
You can now install a Custom ROM also,
etc. So many Advantages
Disadvantages :
You warranty in gone
Try THIS ROM by me. it's good It will transform your device's interface into Android 4.4.4 KitKat Interface.

Upgrading Actual OS to KitKat is not possible because there is no official update available and also we cannot flash custom kernel due to locked bootloader of Xperia C. We can only upgrade our User Interface to KitKat. I am also making an Android 5.0.1 Custom ROM for Xperia C and it will be uploaded on XDA this month only.

walkman doesnt recognize music after handset is at standby
Hi again. I have sony xperia c and I think after rooting it I have created a problem. The walkman app which is in-built doesnt detect music when the handset is used after standby. I keep rebooting but after a few minutes its the same. I have tried media scanner, clearing data in walkman and media storage but its the same. Please help. Did I destroy my phone?:crying:

You can find the Album App attached below. Place this in your system>>app folder using Root Explorer and give the permission as "RW-R--R--" and reboot your phone.
Ok, do i need to install the app after placing there or just simply place the file there?
Ok, its still not working, when i want to set a picture as wallpaper it doesnt show the cropping mode, neither does it set the lock screen
Also i just uniinstalled the quickpic app, so that setting wallpaper finds its first preference in album, but when i did try it said that com.sonyericsson.album has stopped, and it says the album has stopped.

iSiddharth, I really love your works. I have also flashed the lollipop rom.
I followed the instuctions, but I didn't get good result. When deleting the same name apks, I also deleted android live wallpapers by a mistake. And the other point which I can't get is that where are those .odex files to delete? I didn't find Live Wallpapers.odex nor LiveWallpapersPicker.odex . Maybe because of these I didn't get successful result, but can you please help?
