Hey guys I have been having a pretty serious issue the last couple of days. Was running a CM 10 teamchopsticks nightly from a few weeks ago, which worked perfectly up until three days ago. Then it started crashing randomly, the screen would go black and it would vibrate every few seconds, a battery pull would fix it. I updated the phone to the latest nightly, and now I can't run the phone for 5 minutes without the same type of crash. When I battery pulled and tried to turn on the phone, it would immediately crash about 4/5 of the time. This bug is rendering my phone unusable. Not sure whether this is a Rom issue or something else, thanks in advance.
Not sure what kernel I am running.
Hearing it may be a hardware issue, anyone agree?
Could be, try to odin stock jb or ics. If you still have the problem then it's probably hardware. Unfortunately the rocket is getting old. I'm having some old age problems with mine too. Mostly stuck power button.

I don't Think you have it. Take your battery out and then put it back in. If it boots at that point then that's a sign that you probably do. Or if you try to try to power off you phone but it reboots then that's another sign

Could be a stick power button then, that's almost a sure sign. Mine is intermittent. Some times it's ok, others not not.

I was on youtube listening to in dying arms and I kept getting email notifications in my status bar but when I opened my email no new emails were found. It sketched me out! I all paranoid with security and what not. Well I went to shut down my phone then reboot into recovery but it went into bootloop instead.
My phone would only go into bootloop as long as power was connected. Otherwise it was like it was completely dead(had full battery tho). I re-flashed cwmr and booted into it and restored.
I'm just going to wipe everything's and start fresh. That bugged me out!
Happen to anyone before? Anyone know a possible cause?

It happened to me once. Overheating was the culprit. I can't remember the app right now, but something I had installed was causing crazy issues. I removed it and have never had another problem.
Are you still on CM7?

Yeah I'm back to CM7. I was using CM9 but not being able use the cam corder or watch videos that were recorded on a cam corder was enough for me to go back to CM7!! CM7 randomly shuts off tho. It is a pain in my freaking butt!!!!!!!!
I might try eagles blood and see if this stops happening. Cuz I'm not beat for searching/combing through apps to see if one of them are the cause.
UPDATE: It may be a hardware issue. I was on the phone and put the person on speaker and placed the phone down and it reset. It was very lightly too. Come to think of it, anytime my phone reset it was in my pocket or somewhere I couldn't see the actual phone. So the back of the phone could have hit my thigh too hard and it could have shut down.

I'm using the New Clip mod of the Weapon Rom and have no issues right now. A lot of long time posters are still using it. Very stable. My other thought is swapping the battery at a Tmobile store. My wife's phone used to get hot and reboot when she used edmondo and the GPS. New battery fixed it. I still believe there was a bad batch of batteries with the initial launch.

This happens when I hit the back of the phone. Like if I place on the table, it will shut off. No overheating issues. Ill try a new battery first and report back here.

Fold a piece of paper a few times and put it in between your battery and the case. Could be the battery terminals losing contact briefly.

I have an extra battery lying around somewhere. Ill try the paper trick first! Ill let y'all know in a day or 2. Thanks

Hey,
So yesterday night my phone randomly rebooted and did that thing where it just kept constantly vibrating until I took out battery. I was running AOKP R4INS JB so I assumed maybe just unstable build or something. After waiting ten minutes, I put the battery back in and no vibrations. Good. Went on and restored a STABLE Embryo 5.4 nandroid. Worked great until right now (14 hours later). Phone random reboot after I hung up a phone call and started vibrating. Is my phone like dying or something? What's up with this? I don't even know what warranties this phone has but I would rather not have to go through that process. I got this phone for Christmas last year so less than a year. I really don't expect issues like this from a "stable" build like Embryo.
Thanks
I had the same problem with my phone. Took it to an AT&T phone repair center and they replaced it for free. After reading some more about the problem it looks like a stuck power button and not the fault of the rom. I was on SkyICS when it happened to me.

Stuck power button? Ehh so bot the rom. Well it fixes itself if I leave it alone for a while so I guess I'll just deal with it. That is.... Unless I can convince them to upgrade me to an s3? Long shot

Nothing to do with ROM. Its a stuck power button. Either dust/dirt in there or a short causing the problem.

I seem to have a strange problem. My Skyrocket does not want to stay off. I power down the phone, and it comes back up on its own immediately. I've tried this with and without charger connected. I had this problem on Embryo 5.4, and now also on 6.1. Right now, my only option when I need the phone to stay off (like when traveling by air, which I do often) is to take the battery out. The second I put the battery back in, the phone boots up.
Could anyone help me out here?
I tried searching the forum for similar issues, but could not find any. But in case I've missed a thread, feel free to start the flaming .
Thanks in advance for any help.
Sounds like a sticky power button

I have this problem too.
I believe it happens to me when my battery is full or mostly full. Does it happen to your phone when the batter is low?
Stuck power button. It's a known issue on the skyrocket. There are a number of threads on how to clean it. Search stuck power button on the i727.

Nope.. would happen at any battery level! Turned out to be a sticky button issue after all... just tapped it a few times & (touch-wood) problem solved!:victory:
I have the same problem. I tried cleaning the button, a new battery, flashed different ROMs and recoveries but I still have the problem.

if the power button wont shut off the phone then its a dead button not a stuck power button, just get an app that would do a shutdown/restart/recovery function

try cleaning the charger port also. Turned out I had something there too that was shorting the leads and once I cleaned that out thoroughly, I had no more problems till now.
Thanx, I'll try that.

Need some help here...been running AOKP unofficial just fine for a while then all of a sudden my phone starts acting crazy and the flash will go off and then start vibrating and try to reboot, then it kinda gets stuck in a mini boot loop. I have to hold down the power button to get it to fully reboot properly. So i thought it might be a bad app. I uninstalled some apps and it kept doing it. So I wiped and installed the latest AOKP unofficial rom. it did it a couple of times even with no apps on the phone. One thing ive also notice is when I push the power button to sleep/lock, It comes right back on to the lockscreen...Thoughts?

My Old Skyrocket I'm letting my son use, is rebooting also. I notice if i barely touch the power button, it wants to go black, or even prompts to reboot. Extremely sensitive. I'll give this a go within the next few days and hopefully this will get him back in business.

So my Blaze is having some catastrophic problems. It started out the other day by turning off and then vibrating like crazy in my pocket in the same way it would of you were holding the power key down, and it wouldn't stop. I pulled the battery, replaced it and it immediately started vibrating and wouldn't stop as if the power button were stuck in.
Long story short I took my phone apart and removed the plastic button and can get it to boot and stay on for a while. It still craps out sometimes, but I've had it on for a couple hours now with out the plastic part of the power button. I can still hit the button with a pen, BUT here lies my problem...
If I so much as look at the power button funny, it decides that it wants to get stuck down and won't go back up. The actual moving part doesn't get stuck, I think it's electrical.
So if anyone has any clever ideas on how to fix this, I won't have the money for a new phone for a couple weeks and it will make my life very happy to be able to make this one usable
It works sort of if I never have to press the power key, and I remember using a ROM that had the volume locker wake option, but for the life of me I can't remember which one it is. So if someone could help me out there too, that'd be great

Gosh I'm kinda flash crazy, I believe I was on the most recent version of Paranoid Android with whatever version of LZ Kernel comes with it. I originally thought it may be a ROM / Kernel issue so I flashed CM10, and it was still broken.
I don't actually think my problem is a software (ROM or kernel) problem. If it's stuck resetting and I pull and replace the battery, it starts to boot without me touching the button. That means the problem is occurring before any of the software even loads.
I'm pretty certain it's a problem with the button. If I so much as touch it, it acts like it's stuck depressed. I think it may also be heat related, so maybe the ROM or kernel may have caused some overhearing that damages the hardware, but I don't know. It was definitely super hot when it first started.
Hope that helps you!
And if any devs or anyone has any idea about this.. That'd be great
