[Q] The new Google Edition Rom from the HTC one and Samsung Galaxy S4 - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Alright so theres a thread of some random "noob" asking for a port on the new HTC one google edition Rom. In the thread every one is telling this person that theres cyanogen mod and theres no need for a stock rom. But I see on XDA news that its actually Android 4.3 leaked and not 4.2. So my question is that is it Android 4.2 or Android 4.3 cause I'm confused due to the responses given in that thread. (Note I am not requesting a Rom because that would be silly of me to do so)
I'm pretty sure there are some differences between Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 (also adding)

It is 4.3
Will someone port it I wonder? There are some cool improvements it seems though I wonder how much it will affect our phone since the radio drivers for AOSP are functional but ****ty for our device. Maybe I'll try porting it. I haven't started on any roms yet and I really should.... hmmmm... any other thoughts?

Isn't it harder to port from those devices than the nexus 4?
I wish someone would port a non sense Miui v5 Rom

I'm totally stealing that quote from you xD If you're going to do it then good luck!

Just a heads up, I PM'd the dev about permission to port. So hopefully I get the go ahead and I can start this weekend.
*Edit* May not be possible to port until official release as there's no source and hardware is QUITE different to say the least.
I'm not sure yet if that will stop me from trying.....

CM10 or Jelly bean port for Galaxy s 4g

There is already a jelly bean port for the galaxy s (not galaxy s 4g). From there, can someone port it to the galaxy s 4g plz? Will it happen anytime soon? Because even though i like ics, the android lag is still there. I really want project butter

For the ninetieth time, there currently is no jelly bean for our phone. If you would've searched for jellybean in our forums you would see about 6 or 7 closed thread relating to jellybean. We only have 1 or 2 kernel devs trying to get us a perfect ICS at the moment, once that happens we may or may not see jellybean. If you have to have jellybean, buy a nexus, period.

That definitely is NOT the case. They most likely have a ton on devs, at least 5, working on this 24/7. As I said, we have one main dev working on this and maybe 2 devs doing various other things besides this. They must also receive lots of monetary donations because their users aren't mostly kids like ours. And fyi, our main kernel dev also has a life that's not devoted to satisfying us.
If you want jelly bean so bad for our phone, learn how to code and develop. Doesn't matter if you want it soon or now, there's nothing you can do. Our developers work hard each time they make something for the sgs4g community and I'm grateful for the work they do. Were even lucky to even have developers working on custom roms.

Yes its a sure shot not a possibility. You just have to be patient. Bhundven is working on something for ICS to make it easier for developers to do stuff.
And once that's done he said jelly bean will just come naturally.

How what? All you need is to unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery and then you could flash whatever ROM you want.

No there isn't a pure google based rom yet for the oneS . Your best option for now is the cyanogenmod 10 rom, which look very close to stock google.

To sum up what was mentioned...
No, there is not currently a pure, stock, AOSP rom for the 1S. Cyanogenmod 10 is the closest you can get, as it looks and operates the most like stock, however has many additional features (both visual and performance wise). Here is the link to download CM10 for our device http://get.cm/?device=ville .
Note: CM is releasing "nightlies" which means pretty much everyday an updated rom is released to fix or add features. As of right now, the rom works great, however there are some issues with the camera (video camera does not work properly, although there is a fix).
If you have not flashed a rom to your 1S yet, you will have to do quite a bit of research to get it done. This requires unlocking your bootloader through the HTCdev website, and downloading and installing several files before you can install a new rom. This guide can help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427 .
Hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
BTW, yes Q&A would have been the correct section, but don't sweat it. Brandonrz is apparently disturbed in some manner.

[Q] 2 roms questions

Hi, sorry if this thread is short, but i have two question blowing my mind.
1: Why don't whe have a 4.0.4 Cyanogenmod Rom?
2: And can we have a stock 4.1.2 rom? I mean, with motoblur, not cyanogenmod or that kinda variants
I know that motorola isn't collaborating with its upgrades. But, there is any chance?
First of all the boot loader is locked that means no custom kernel that means no proper CM builds, still there is an unofficial CM ROM in the development section take a look at it. And don't forget the funda "search before you post"..

You don't get me at all. I know that there's 3 roms of 4.1.2 CM.
And this was my comment about that, but no ones answers me:
I know that is hard, and i really really really apreciate the work that they're doing.
But, we have 3 roms of cyanogenmod, and the 3 roms have the same bugs.
I repeat. I know, they can't spend the whole free-time that you have working in the creation of the rom. But, why don't you team up and make a unique functional rom.
Or, am i missing something, and for the moment we can't have a functional rom because of motorola or whatever?
I repeat again, sorry if i'm bothering someone, but i ask this from my ignorance.

Then learn how to build your own freaking ROM, and why even start a NEW thread with this junk, it all fits in the CM Q&A thread.
These types of threads are not cool to your dev team. We all work very hard to bring the stuff that we do, to you guys, for free.
If you do not like the bugs in the CM based roms that we have then do not use them and stick to stock and stop basically complaining about it, or do some reading and learn about the process and see why we have these issues, we have all posted about it so many times now it is not even funny.
I saw your post before and chose to ignore it, but now that you have posted a new thread like this, I just had to reply.
--EDIT--
And to answer the questions you put in the first post here:
1) because the source for CM10 with 4.0.4 is not out anymore
2) because motorola will not release a 4.1 or 4.2 stock ROM and kernel, so we can not port that, even our 4.1 and 4.2 CM based roms are still really 4.0.4 because we still have the 4.0.4 version of the kernel underneath.
Again all this has been spelled out too many times now and some reading and searching could have gotten your answers.

I am not mad BTW, I am just tired of people not doing their own research. You are more than welcome to do some reading on compiling Cyanogenmod, so that you understand what we are up against. Also try searching for compiling cyanogenmod on locked bootloaders.
We (all the A2 devs), have answered these same questions so many times now, it is not even funny. It seems that as of late people have gotten more and more lazy in here, and we just keep hashing the same crap over and over again.
You say it is from your own ignorance, but you do not have to be ignorant, just use the search function or do some reading on your own and find what you need. And I do not want to hear excuses or complaints about the search function, I use it all the time, all you have to do is play with the wording until you find what you want. Also note other devs did not answer your original query either, for probably the same reason, not to put words in their mouth's either.

Also I hate to tell you but most of your devs do "team up" and we work together on our IRC chat room to do dev work, but again reading around the forms would have also told you that as well, as we talk about it quite often.

I think only PA is 4.1.2 so far.. the others are 4.1.1, I think
And Jim's right, I also saw your post in the PA thread and started to reply, but discarded it because I felt I was sounding too mean.. let me try again:
I can say from my personal experience and (relatively low) skill level - it's a mess trying to get all the pieces in place to compile a working ROM from source code for our phone - specifically, the vendor and device files..
I know at least a few A2 devs are working to straighten things out for Edison directly - and a few others working on other Motos with similar hardware and locked bootloaders, which benefits us all.
It's probably safe to say that our phone is in the early stages of true ROM development (as opposed to derivative pseudo-roms and ports) - there is still a lot of work to be done to get something truly stable.
Again, please be patient, or learn and contribute... don't stir the pot.

[Q] Cm10.1 (4.2.2)?

Seriously? Then why didn't you ask "how close to 4.2.2 is 4.1.2?" if that is what you were trying to ask? That would have made more sense if you were looking for similarity. But then why even ask about CM 10.1?
I'm sorry, most normal people can use the word "like" in more than one way. I asked about Cm 10.1 because I wanted to know if it was out, and then I asked what the difference between the two, Paranoid Droid, and 4.2.2 were. I'm so sorry if you weren't able to cope with the fact that I asked two questions. Two questions, that have already been answered. Good day sir.

Well to answer both different questions, CM10.1 still isn't out yet, but the devs are making progress. We only need a working kernel - and at last check surfaceflinger is the main issue (see CM 10.1 thread).
Since PA is based on CM 10 (4.1.2) it's very similar to all flavors of 4.1.2 - which doesn't have anything from 4.2 in it (PA allows you to customize pixel density on a per app basis). The main difference between CM 10 and PA is that CM is official and gets nightlies (really more like weeklies) updates - none of which really adds anything. It's my understanding that the nightlies only fix issues related to specific devices (based on the changelogs). Seems though that some builds are more stable than others. Thomas has EOL'd PA 4.1.2 to concentrate on getting the 4.2 kernel working.
A good article detailing some of the differences between 4.1.2 and 4.2 can be found here. http://developer.android.com/about/versions/jelly-bean.html
Since the question has been answered I'll be closing this.

cm are good too on villec2, camera works although
Best aosp roms r avalible for ville (s4)
As Flashalot mentioned, these types of threads are not allowed on XDA.
The main reasons for this are;
* It often causes arguments/disputes between users of different ROMs.
*It seems quite disrespectful to ask which is the BEST (I'm sure that's not your intention but that's how it appears).
The best way to find out which ROM is most suitable for you is to try them for yourself. Even though doing so takes more time, it gives you a proper opportunity to find out which ROM features you most prefer and you may also discover a brilliant ROM which wasn't even suggested by others.
For the reasons mentioned above, Thread Closed
