I have been using T989UVMC6. its for a different phone but works better than the latest one for the blaze better data better calls not near as many dropped calls. I have been running this baseband for a long time now thanks to henslo !! read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245277

Ditto. Was running the updated Blaze baseband and was getting crap reception in my house on EDGE, where the signal is typically pretty good. Updated to T989UVMC6 and now EDGE is extremely strong, and I can pick up a weak 3G (and occasionally H+) signal, which is something I've never been able to do.

Hi All,
I got the samsung infuse by exchanging the HTC inspire which had a horrible battery life.
I love this phone and would like to keep it, but the very poor Data speeds and somewhat poor WIFI signal strength is bugging me.
Any suggestions ?

Are you guys on g or n networks?
My wifi is fair to good. For me, it certainly isn't an issue were I would take the phone back. My main issue was the constant lock ups and reboots from the stock browser. But since that update last week the phone has been running really well and no lock ups.

My wifi is average, at 30-40ft though 2-3 walls I get 2 bars but doing speedtest i get maximum download and upload. Maybe you should try wifi analyzer and see if you can connect to a better channel.

I'm getting an extra bar now it seems... although the difference is not major, but its improved. Got the UCKE3 update, after contacting AT&T to push it to my phone
My WiFi gets good signal strength throughout my house, 50+ feet I still have 3-4 bars; however, sitting within ten feet I still only get 1.5Mb down MAX. My h+ speeds are the same... It is terrible. My Captivate is much faster on the same network.
Any ideas?
If you are willing to share your experiences with the new radios, post away!
I am primarily curious how the radios behave on 3G. For me its too early to tell, so I will post after some testing. So far they seem roughly the same as EP3HA radios although I did have to pull the SIM to get it to behave after flashing. I'm hoping it will be stable now.
I got the new Radios over at mydroidworld. There is a EP4P radio thread on rootzwiki but XDA seems to get a lot of traffic so I posted here. I'll post links if you would like me to.
Personally i think the signal strength is lower everywhere compared to the EE4 and EP1-3 radios. Never had ant data dropping on any radio so can't comment on that.

Work great for me!
I think they are a bit better from EE4. I have dropped signal too many times to count on all the previous radios, but I have been using this for 2-1/2 days and, so far, haven't dropped once. The signal seems overall better, I have 3 bars in the basement of my house when I normally would have 2 on the other radios. Texts work quick, and calls come in quick (I called myself from our house phone and texted myself from my iPod and other phone. Seems to be equal or better to EE4. At least for me.

I won't comment on signal strength or quality, but I will say that in the last 2 or 3 modems there have been some huge glaring bugs in how it picks up 3g signal while LTE is enabled... The bugs I had experienced in the last 2 or 3 modems are not there, so far. This means that I can get 3g data in places that I the last couple modems failed to get 3g if LTE was enabled. I could disable LTE and get 3g signal, but even that was buggy / glitchy at best. Using a much earlier modem I would get consistent 3g signal in those places.

I am having problems with SMS on this build, I'm not sure if it is the radio's fault or not. I'm getting a lot of "failed" messages that will go out after a retry. Twice now, though, I've had to reboot the phone to get messages flowing again.

I STILL get the nasty audio pops on speakerphone, though it appears to be fixed on the earpiece and bluetooth modes.
The new radio made my 3G speeds surprisingly usable (was practically useless in my neighborhood with any other radio) but 4G still drops out quite often.
Mine was dropping data constantly at first like other roms then it just went away now it works like it should. Im clueless to why its working but I'm a happy boy now

From what I'm reading on various threads, it seems to be varying as to who has good reception and who doesn't. My S3 gets better reception than my HTC Dinc did.
Man I hate when this happens. I think you should keep asking around. I don't think your question will be answered here. Keep searching. Maybe installing other radio versions on your device is the answer, if you are into tinkering.

signal quality seems to vary a lot on our GS3's.. many people complain about worse signal while others have decent signal. personally, my signal is pretty similar to what I got on my old Thunderbolt.
I was getting terrible signal at my house as well. I called on Sunday and asked if there was an update or something to correct the problem. I was issued a new SIM card and it came today. 2 hours in and I have only had data flicker once and ot used to happen every 5-10 minutes. It doesnt hirt to make the call.
Switched out the sim today still crap signal at the house. I'm not gonna be living here much longer I get strong data signal at the house but voice sucks. I'm moving soon or I'd say I would buy a signal booster for the house

I get one bar inside my house. If it ends up switching to 3G (which is rare), i get full bars. The moment I go outside, I get full bars on 4G.
We have two phones and they are about the same, so I don't think switching them will help. The 3G is better than I got on my old DINC.
I do hope there will be a software update to kick it up a notch, but I'm not hating it. I really am not having issues anywhere else but home and one day I had to run into Walmart and got no reception, but I normally don't go there, so I couldn't care less. Oddly, when I was in Target across the street, I had full 4G reception.

One thing I have noticed is that the bars shown on the notification bar, and what it ACTUALLY is getting differ sometimes. It it like there is a dealy, and a strange averaging algorithm.
Unfortunately I have a similar issue. Admittedly I don't live in the greatest spot for cellular signal but it seems the S3's radio is "weaker" in my situation than my HTC Desire and my Droid MX2. The MX2 seems to rule them all (and I've always read the one thing Motorola does well is radios). Normally the Desire and MX2 will read 5-10 dB better than the S3, and voice quality tends to be way better with either and I rarely drop calls. I haven't tried any other radio / modem, right now I am on VRLG1 (which is what the phone came with), maybe I will try going back to VRLF2 to see if it makes any difference.
Let me start off by saying that this is by far the best phone I've ever had feature wise and this thing is smooth and quick, but my signal strength is no where near as good as my thunderbolt was. I live just outside of Pittsburgh and the signal has always been great here. Since I got this phone, I have noticed many spots where I have no signal at all where I previously had a good signal. Do you guys think there's any chance that Samsung will release something that gives us a better signal. That's my only gripe.
In settings>about phone what is your baseband version?
Vrlg1
Certain ROMs tweak signal settings to get better results.

There is a distinct possibility that we will see at least one more baseband released for this device. Snapdragon wasn't in the original concept for the S3. It might very well have been a little rushed.
The VRALEC baseband that was used during early development has been leaked.
The VRALF baseband shipped with the first phones out the door (like mine).
The VRALG baseband shipped with the second batch of phones and as I understand it was rolled into the OTA update that I would have received if I'd chosen to live within Verizon's little corral for this device.
This thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788313
was the first "modification" I rolled onto my phone (or any phone for that matter) and it did help me pick up 1X coverage where I didn't have it before. The thread indicates that each phone might respond a little better or worse to a given baseband depending on its own manufacturing variances. You might give the older (VRALF) baseband a whirl and see if it yields an improvement for you. As with everything Odin... proceed at your own risk =)
That shipped on my phone. Tried it for a while but not long enough. I know that in my house the signal strength was the same but not sure how it was in some of the weak areas. I might give it a try. Can't hurt.
My signal has been all over the place but I haven't dropped any calls. I have been running root66 and haven't had any problems but now I'm CleanROM for the past two days so we will see.
thunderbolt as far as I remember reports RSSI and S3 is reporting RSRP which is a proper way of reading LTE signal values, but it's ~20dBm lower. My signal is much better on S3 than let's say GNex.
Yea I would hope with the phone updates, it gets us new ones. Complain enough and they might just listen to us.
Signal is great on my device. Have not been anywhere where there was no signal...must be the area maybe?

Yes its rock solid never pulls less than 10mb down from anywhere in my city...even gets good 4g in the surrounding areas. I have only found 2 areas in a 50mi radius that it switches to 3g.
the signal on my S3 is worse than my fascinate. A phone, which, was known for having bad reception.

i traded up from a bionic and indeed get weaker signals with the SGIII from the same locations (including some dropped calls).
Solution: purchased a Samsung Network extender for Verizon Wireless of ebay for my home. Now 4-5 bars
Its stupid I had to do that since I live in a major city (pop>600,000)

Motorola has the best radios, this is nothing new...however part of the reason the gs3 gets better battery life is because of reducing power to the radio and wifi antenna. As already stated signal is no issue for me, i could care less if it had twice the signal. It does seem to be a issue for other folks, so hopefully a new radio version will roll out or some crafty dev will figure out a way to increase voltage to the radio(if even possible) at the expense of battery life.
---------- Post added at 10:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ----------
On a side note i just compared signal with my mother inlaws moto razr, -101db on the razr vs -107db on my gs3.
I've been happy with my G2X, but now I need better reception. I'm in an area of Boston with fair cellular tower coverage because of all the tall buildings.
WiFi calling is unfortunately not an option, it's buggy on my baseband/RIL. Plus I move around too much to use the same WiFi connection.
Can anyone tell me if there is any hack, any app, that will let me boost my radio reception?
Thanks!
Are you on the latest baseband? That helped reception for me.

No, I'm concerned that if I go to the new baseband I lose Bluetooth, and there are other bugs.
I'd install the latest baseband if I thought I could go back if the radio became non-functional, but there is no going back, really.
