Any web activity you do uses your data. Tethering, apps which access the web, web browsing on your phone, et al.

use custom browsers like UC browser n Opera. My Personal Recommendation is UC browser For Android.

All the other small sized browsers with java script takes at least 50 mb.That's my experience anyway. please share your thoghts.

I have tried Google chrome, opera mini, skyfire, uc browser, dolphin. But I would recommend
Lightning browser as I found this is more efficient and clean.
Please try this and let me know your comments.
PS: Anyway my favorite one is native android browser because of its overall
Performance(lot of options including save for offline reading)

Most RAM efficient browser would definitely be ONE Browser . its fast even on 2g networks

It is not a crime. The utility of this app is so no one knows what you are browsing, it's for privacy.
