If you see the cyanogenmod logo you've already passed up the recovery. Do a battery pull. Then vol up+ home+ power. Let go of power when you see the Samsung logo and keep holding the other two

You should always post in the correct section, saves MODs time as they have to fix your mistake, AND more people will see it and want to help.
As for your question. Your phone boots, and gets stuck in in a bootloop. You pulled the battery booting into recovery, and then you say "but it just gets stuck in the same place. HELP!"
1) does this mean you are stuck some place in recovery?
2) or you simple are stuck with a ROM that won't boot?
I am thinking 2, so I will answer upon that.
I suggest getting a TW based ROM, preferably the latest stock OTA found here, I would also make sure I am on the most up-to-date firmware found here.
Now, you need to make sure you wipe correctly in recovery.
Making sure to wipe system, cache, and dalvik cache.
If the ROM boots then you are good to go.
If it does not boot I suggest flashing back to odin following these directions.
Also, a brick is when your phone will not boot, it will not turn on: it is a brick.
Very different than what you're experiencing.

What process are you doing to get into Odin?
Sometimes it takes some getting used to, to get the phone into recovery or download mode.

Try rebooting instead of "febooting"
Sorry couldn't help it. Oh yeah wrong section.

This section is meant for development not for troubleshooting.

I also think your not getting into recovery the right way. If you are and it won't truly work you can just Odin back to stock by going to download mode. Your only soft bricked so its not that hard to fix it. I'm on my phone right now other wise I'd like you to a topic on how to Odin back

Also phone is not bricked if there is life...brick is brick. You are more likely sponged or soft bricked

[Q] Bad CWM flash, can't boot to anything

I've been running Slim Bean 2.7 with the latest Gapps package (released 10/04). I was having trouble switching between 3g and 4g so i thought I would reinstall SB and Gapps. To do this, I started by flashing CWM Touch but i apparently had a bad download. When i tried to boot into recovery after flashing CWM, I found that my phone flashed the Samsung screen with the blue text in the top left corner but then flashed off and stopped responding. I tried removing the battery but it continues to do the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Can you get to download mode? If so, odin flash back to stock, take the ota, root and unlock and try again. I've been using the new TWRP and its fantastic so far.

Fortunately since you get a boot splash you should be able to recover with Odin, as suggested. Always always check md5 on ROM and recovery downloads.
I appreciate the quick repsonses everyone. It seems that I was able to interrupt the bootloop (I'm not sure if I'm using that correctly) by booting into download mode, restarting, and booting normally. I'm poorly versed in development, but I'm still trying to learn more about the ins and outs of my phone so I run into trouble from time to time. These forums are life-savers. Thanks again.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop, tried everything but still stuck.

Hello,
I had a rooted verizon galaxy s3 (CM10) and I recently got stuck in a boot loop. So I connected to Odin and flashed both MD5 files and the root66.tar file, booted into recovery and tried to do a factory reset.
The problem is my power button won't work in recovery mode, so I can not select anything in the menu. The volume buttons work I just cant select anything.
I've searched all over for 2 days now and I can't find anything about my problem, am I screwed or is there something I haven't thought of yet?
Thanks preemptively for the help.
bump please help
Maybe possible to send commands to phone via adb?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Which recovery you are using? Try twrp which recognises touch so no need of power button to select any option. I think class cwm also has touch based recovery.
Thanks doesn't hurt....
Thanks for the replies, I tried to run adb but just runs a lot of code then closes out. I tried to re-download and the same thing happened.
I was using the stock.vzw.root66.tar and BOOTLOADER_I535VRALF2.... I flashed them many times and nothing has changed it still just gets stuck on the 4G LTE screen. Where would I go about finding the recovery files you mentioned? I'm willing to try anything at this point.
Thanks again for the replies.

If it's stuck at the LTE logo, boot into recovery and factory reset.
Edit: to Odin flash CWM or TWRP, you can find both files in Open1your1eyes0's root thread in the dev section. Use either once you're rooted.

If you just want this to be fixed quickly, you could always flash a Full-wipe rom that contains the bootloader, etc. Then after your back in the stock rom you could always re-unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery , re-root and flash whatever rom you wanted.

Thanks for the replies, I've searched the internet for a full-wipe rom and I cannot seem to find one, can you point me in the right direction?
Also sorry for the delayed response, I actually graduated college yesterday.
EDIT: Now I can't get the phone to boot into download mode or recovery mode, the Samsung logo comes up and the screen goes black. I'm pretty sure my phone is ****ed.

Now is when you're going to have to do some reading. You will need to odin the stock firmware. Go to the development forum and look for the stickies by vincom. They're you'll find one that will tell you how to return to stock. That's a good thing, because you should never flash if you don't know Odin.

Were you able to get into download mode and connect to Odin and did Odin recognize your phone? You do know how to use Odin?
Were you able to access recovery as suggested by using the power button and volume button combination and maybe restore your back up? You did do a backup before starting?
I don't remember where it is but their are well written steps on how to do both. As someone else suggested read and research. As someone suggested to me "Don't trying to flash custom ROMs until you know how to use Odin to be able to get out of trouble."
Just a suggestion you probably know more about this than I do please don't take it the wrong way

Still, after all this time with the device and people don't know you don't have to hold the keys that long. Device off--->hold power and both volumes until you see the Samsung screen... You can then let go of everything.

For what its worth when I have a problem I can't find the answer to I Odin back to stock when phone settles I do a factory reset to remove everything on phone. If it reboots okay I start loading everything back into it.
If I run into problems I go into download and Odin back to stock and start over. Sometimes it takes me more than one attempt.
I'm sure their is a better way but I'm no expert. For the most part going back to stock has been the answer then go from their. Hope your phone is not hosed. Good luck.

You don't have to go into recovery to do a factory reset you can go into settings.
A hardware problem is something that will have to be answered by someone way smarter than I.
I use CWM recovery and when I first started flashing I installed it using Odin.

To get to CWM recovery on this ROM, simply download 'Quick Boot' application and use it to get to recovery. It works.
Apex launcher crashes as well. I think issue is ROM related. Also, ROM is very heavy, I couldn't find why.
Edit: ROM is snappier after using CM performance features and letting cache do its work.

I got through the splash screen on 1st try.
You should check if you worked according to ROM instructions.
I usually always format system as well as wipe everything twice before flashing any new ROM.
I was referring to :
1. the lack of recovery button on power menu.
2. The inability to use hardware keys to get to recovery after flashing this ROM.
Heimdall One-click (in download mode) and try again.
You're right - I missed that option in developer features - it's called 'advanced reboot options'.
I'd suggest you get to download mode - one click heimdall and reflash this ROM after dowble wiping dalvik, cache, and format system.
I've flashed numerous ROMS to my phone before but have never ran into a problem like this.
-I went back to stock
-flashed CM7, as recommended from the OP
-downloaded and flashed CM10.2 but it gets stuck around 75%
I've been on this thread, and the rom thread as well as waiting a bit, hoping to find a solution or it figures itself out. Nothing! Is it unsafe to pull my battery when its at 'Installing update' (75%) for an extended period of time?
Also, i am on CWM 5.0.2.8
Thanks
I flashed it from ICS (Ultragen) and had no problem.
You can try that as well.

[Q] lost recovery screen

Basically, i was in the process of rooting the device. I have 4.0.4. So, I am able to run Odin, with it showing "success" on the screen. I unchecked auto reboot. So, I unplugged the USB, and when I try to reboot into recovery, I get nothing, just a black screen. The samsung logo screen will come on and then go away. I hold volume down and power button, and then let go of power button. Prior to running Odin, I was able to see the stock recovery screen. But now, I can't get to any recovery screen. But the phone will boot up no problem, and I can get to the download screen no problem as well. I am not sure what to do next. Can anyone help me or does anyone have any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Thank you.

Did you check the MD5 hash for your CWM zip? If it is incomplete it doesn't stand much of a chance at working. On Windows I use winmd5free, and on the tablet I use MD5 Hash (Free, No Ads) from the Google Playstore to verify the MD5 of anything I download before flashing it.
Personally I've used the unofficial TeamWin Recovery 2.6.3.0 zip (TWRP) on my P5113 to install CM 10.2 from the Nightly builds.
Also, verify your device is really rooted. I used RootValidator, again from the Google Playstore, to check after rooting my Tab the first time.

Goto Settings, About tablet (scroll down to the bottom of the settings to find it).
Check out focussoft's directions on how he rooted his sgh-i497. Note he refers to an older version of TWRP Recovery in his instructions.
I used this to root my P5113.
It is easy to confuse the volume rocker switch directions. Remember that the side next to the power button is Volume Down!
P5100 is the one with a simcard ( 3g/phone )
P5110 is the wifi only tablet
P5113 is wifi and Infrared
Okay, I have 3g and wifi on here so I have 5100.

Make sure you have root.
Look up mobile Odin. The lite version is free but make sure you grab the correct kernel flash file for your tablet.
Download the latest cwm/philz/twrp of your choice for your device and use mobile Odin app to flash recovery.
I've occasionally had issues getting into recovery on my 3113 and found that powering off, plugging it in until the battery icon shows then holding power and volume up and quickly unplugging the cable seems to help. Continue holding volume up for about 5 seconds after the black screen shows and it goes into recovery 99% of the time.
I should note that I only have that issue if I flash incompatible rom and kernel combos or wipe my system and accidentally turn the tab off in recovery mode.

Here's the thread. I'll edit this post in a second with the right recovery.
If you flashed a bad kernel you wouldn't be able to boot past the Samsung screen at all, except to get into download mode. If you can boot to the rom, it's not the wrong kernel. Likely just the wrong recovery or a corrupted recovery download.
Brb, hold tight.
Oh boy... we have a big problem...
I just rececked your model number from your signature....
YOU DO NOT HAVE A 51XX TABLET. DO NOT FLASH 51XX FILES.
What you have is the AT&T 4g model.
Flashing files for any other model can potentially permanent brick your device as all the hardware is completely different.
Let me get back to you again and see if I can find a real recovery option for you.
Ok, here is a good recovery for you. Try this and get back to me.
