This would be nice. I'm tired of digging through subtle variations of the same troubleshoot.

After attempting to update to the recent Jellybean release for my gt-i8160L I've been left with something between a soft brick and a hard brick. When I attempt to boot the phone normally it can only reach the Samsung model number screen, no animated boot screen. Recovery mode in inaccessible, but Download mode is accessible. I've attempted flashing an original "single file" firmware with Odin and the JB to GB method with Russian CSC available here. So far, nothing has fixed the problem and I am left with nothing but Download mode.
Also, when flashing original firmware with Odin, after the auto reboot, I'm given a big green "PASS" even though my device is still dysfunctional. Thanks in advance, all help is much appreciated!
p.s. Sorry about the repost. I was just receiving replies asking questions with answers I had already addressed.

xDD yeah I was tricked by this one too, are you charging your phone with usb from your pc? If yes then just connect your phone to a wall charger because it is probably at 1% battery.
Google talk app
Hello..
I am using custom ROM 'BlueJob'..
I need the google talk app..
I cannot download the whole 'removed apps' link from that custom ROM page because I have very slow connection..
so if you can give me the gtalk app alone, that would be a great help for me..
I cannot find it in play store.. Why is that ??
Thanks..

thanks so much for your help finally i had my phone rooted. i had the drivers from the gionee website, www.gionee.com. i need more of your help now as i want to install a custom Rom for my dual sim phone gionee gn700w. i want to upgrade from ICS TO JB. the phone is a dual sim with dual sim functionalities enabling me to switch from the two sim cards and also perform manual settings. the question is will i get a jelly bean custom rom to install that will not affect my dual sim functionalitie? if the answer is yes, where do i start? and which is the best app to start with? i have seen some of the custom roms from cyanogenMod. how do i start?
Also i after i rooted i still cannot install apps from the google play store nor run the google play app (the app crashes few seconds after launch and i cant run google related apps like gmail, google talk).
PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO WALK THROUGH THIS ONE TOO. THANX FOR YOUR HELP AGAIN

See here just a few posts down and here.

Hey,
I recently rooted my note 2 via some YouTube link.. Now for some reason I am still getting over the air updates and my recovery mode always goes into the Samsung recovery (only options are wipe data and some others.. The screen is black with a green android mascot )
However all the root apps are working.. So what do I do£
Do I install the update which has come over the airborne not?
Thanks for the help..
You should send us a link to the youtube link and you should get a rom off XDA, it works better and you get more support.
Hope it helps
What next

Have you even gone to the thread for your device and read there? That should be the first thing you do before you do anything on your phone. Following some youtube video then coming here for help is not very considerate. Also you provided no information.
Luckily for you. You have root access but you haven't installed a custom recovery yet. You need to do that next. Then install the rom of your choice. Look in the development section for your device and read the stickies. Good luck.

hi,
yes i did.. there was a video.. i watched a 100 of those before rooting the device .. so in the end i chose one which i thought i was the most comfortable with .
unfortunately this happened and now it has come notice that xda is the overlord of sorts in android .. at the time i didnt kow else i would have followed the xda guide..
hence i ask NOW WHAT.
should i unroot ?
my recovery goes into stock recovery and cwm or twer recovery doesnt work properly .. so hence my question was thus framed..
please give me a suggestion that you see fit

If the phone has a removable battery, take it out and see if there is a label under the battery that shows the brand or model number. Perhaps you can Google that model number to find out more.

Is there any type of branding anywhere on the phone that you could post. Also remember as this is a Chinese phone it is most likely that you wouldn't be able to find a stock rom.

Hi, I know this is a Unit purchased in China or from China, I can tell you very simple since I live here, There is probably no way to root it or install a different OS, Unless one of the following is met. 1. You can send the device back to the factory and as them to do it for you. 2. You can physically walk in to the factory and have them flash root files for you. 3. You can develop a boot loader yourself, and have access to flash SU. 4. You have access to the required drivers for your device ex; cpu, wifi, screen, bluetooth etc and make a rom port yourself. 5. You can buy a device that is already supported by a ROM compiler like AOKP, you can search there website under devices to see which devices can be used, also CWM has a device list where you can see if the device is there, along with root information.
Cheers. :cyclops:

Hello,
I honestly can say i have been looking for a month now and trying different things. but i have had no luck? so now I'm going to ask.
i have a SGH-I527 (AT&T) MEGA... pics to show what i can see. I can do download mode as well as recovery mode (but no recovery installed).
When the phone powers on.... all it does is loop to the second Samsung screen then starts over. Odin can see it so can Kies. but with Kies it see it enough to say its not supported (tried different Kies but same result). I'm asking what can I do here.... I just want the phone back up i don't need the service but its a koo ass phone... any advice would help thanks again.
Hi,
Here is a thread on flashing stock with Odin. Just read it carefully and if you have questions, ask here,

Good luck!
