Polaris Office 5 for TF101 - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

I use my transformer everyday, as a replacement for a laptop. However, all the word processing applications have not met my standards. I tried Polaris Office on my friends Galaxy Note 10.1, and I loved it. When I downloaded it and installed it on my TF101, it forced closed when I tried to open their sample document. Is there any way to get Polaris Office 5 to work on the TF101? I can provide logs of the problem, but am not knowledgable enough to solve this mysellf.

EDIT - It installs and runs but doesn't seem to let you open or create docs

Thanks for trying. Is there anyway to remove the restriction, because I have heard that it is restricted to Samsung devices only.

Accidentally tapatalked from my iPod touch

Best Free Office Program is Kingsoft Office!

[Q] does this app exist?

hi
i would like to know if there is an app that allows you to send text messages through your phone using a tab.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
TexTab uses Bluetooth connection between the two-works really well. There is TexTab lite to try before you buy
SyncSMS works via dropbox but I can only give a mixed report, found it random and support not the best for a paid app
Sent from my Transformer TF101 currently transformed into a small bowl of Petunias
TabletTalk is another good app.
I use it cause it also notify for calls/missed calls.
https://market.android.com/details?...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5hcGRyb2lkLnRhYnRhbGsiXQ..
Tablet Talk is a lot better than TexTab IMHO; I've used both a lot.

Questions, please help

1. How does one connect the transformer to a HDTV? Is the appropriate equipment in the box?
2. How does one Swype on the UK version of the Asus keyboard?
3. How do I change the speed of animations?
4. Is there a keyboard shortcut for the multitasking button?
5. How do I speed up internet?
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

I can try to answer some of these for you.
1) You need an HDMI cable with one end as a micro hdmi. It does not come with it. Heres the one I use.
2) Go the to the main swype beta home page with your tablet (in tablet mode), it wont work if you have it in desktop mode. Sign up for the beta and download beta.
3) I dont think you can. If your getting lag use the Asus Task Manager widget to kill background apps. There really shouldnt be any lag though. This is one of the smoothest tabs Ive ever used.
4) ??
5) If your internet seems slow I doubt its the tablet. More likely your router, or internet type. I get almost 35mb/ second with mine.
Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot, you did help.
1. Does anyone know how tablet remote works?
2. Would you recommend that one buys Norton tablet anti virus for £50? What does it offer that the free ones don't?
Thanks

You can use right alt+tab for multitasking on the keyboard
You can swype on the main asus keyboard without downloading the swype beta. Im using perfect keyboard from the market however and i prefer it to the stock one as it is split so you can use it with your thumbs
Animations cant be sped up in the stock ROM, but I think the modified buildprop posted in the DEV section increases them slightly (correct me if wrong). On my phone I was able to increase the transition animation speeds using an app called "spare parts" so you may want to check that out
Internet should be fast. Ive noticed its actually faster than my laptop. If by speeding up the speed of connection TO the wifi hotspot, again try using the modified build.prop as that has some tweaks in it.
About antivirus, I wouldnt bother with it. It just slows the tablet and I think its unnecessary unless you are really lack confidence with technology. The same principles apply for the using PCs - if you dont trust something you downloaded off the internet, or from an email, dont open it! I have been without antivirus for years on my home PCs and phones and have never had a problem because I know what im doing. I would suspect that the main reason for antivirus on android is just for the companies to make a load of cash by scaremongering.

Thanks greatly for responses. Sometimes the swype on asus keyboard just doesn't work, I didn't know why. Do you need root for the modifiedbuild?
Also, are there any MS paint like apps in play store?

great help welcome..
As a first time tablet user (3 days), i am actually disappointed with the performance of TF300T compare to my wife's ipad 2. To make it worst, she think i make the wrong choice for not choosing apple... Until i arrive to this forum specifically to the topic below ..
TF-300 Minor tweaks and Speed increase(ROOT REQUIRED)
I think i can gain some respect if i follow the topic but....
In the topic, there are so many term that is only suitable for experienced user which leave me (blob, su, ww, etc ). From the topics, it is said, i can do the 'tweak' without rooting (which i dont really know how to do it) but using adb push (which i dont even know the meaning of it) to make it work.
The only thing is comprehensible for a newbie or noob like me is the result. I can make my tablet better than what i have now.
So, if there are any expert that can help me with the topics, please let me know. Any help will be very much appreciated.
As of why i post this here,
i prefer it to the stock one as it is split so you can use it with your thumbs
What did you mean by that dear Sir. I can split my keyboard like ipad keyboard do?
Thanks again. It is my first post in such a forum and english is not my first language.

Is there a away to change the setting? It still doesn't appear to be working...
Also, is there a way to change the function of the right click on the dock to make it more like the right click on a laptop? So when i right click, i would get the option of "open new tab" etc. in browser?
Thanks

These issues are sorted bar the face unlock one. I have another question and would've made a new thread but can't do so on the XDA app on my tablet.
Using the dock, if i plug in the USB port of a printer, should i be able to print from the tablet as i have tried this to no avail.

What do you want to open it with? If it's a newer powerpoint file, like a pptx (office 2010), it may not play nice with a lot of office suites on Android.
I want it to open with either Cloudon or Polaris office. Its a word 2007 powerpoint file.

[Q] Notepad + keyboard

so last night i was riding in a car and needed to take some notes, popped open my tablet with the keyboard because it was a bumpy road and figured using my fingers on the screen would be hopeless to get the amount of information as quickly as it needed to get put down.. so i tried two different tablet apps i had installed (no internet at the time to find others) and both wouldn't let me use the keyboard to take notes... both wanted stylus/finger mode only... I also tried to use google drive but it wouldn't let me create anything new in offline mode.
any options here folks that one can think of? im not really interested in installing 1000+ notepad apps on the market to find one via brute testing..
thanks.

Surface Delivered
Received mine today also.
I am having a hard time linking my outlook Microsoft account and my old Xbox live account otherwise having fun.
I wonder if either of you could do a test for me on your Surface please?
Can you open up a powerpoint presentation, and then try and "Print to Onenote" I know this is possible in Office 2010 and Office 2013, I am very keen to see if its still there in the RT version?
Or is there any other way of sending a powerpoint show to Onenote?
Cheers

Just got my 64gb delivered a few minutes ago. There were very little instructions with it. I got my Microsoft account linked up but not sure how to get all my contacts and calender synced up with my Office 2010 on my desktop. I guess the days of Acticesync are gone and it all has to be done through the cloud. Is there any way to sync it up with a desktop standalone Office program?
Otherwise very cool.

Bluestacks isn't in the store yet - I just checked (LOL). We need to reasch out to them and find out their timeline.
First Gotcha
The first limitation I've encountered that I'm not real fond of is the lack of POP3 support in the mail client. If you go to Mail -> Settings -> Add -> Other Accounts, it let's you enter the info for a pop3 account then populates a screen with the info it's retrieved from the server, then shuts down with no message. I don't like that.

Yea.. I know they are planning on supporting it, but they didn't say when. I'm good with playing with it all for now and I just got it connected with Xbox music(got a free year for being one of the first 100 in the store!) so that should keep me occupied for a few days lol

The only problem I have with my surface is that it doesnt treat the microsd card as part of the library. The sd card is only useful for transferring media or watching or listening to one file at a time. Other than that it is great. I have to admit thatbi like my lenovo yoga a little more.

I had heard that the MicrosSD would not house apps, but only media but did not realize it would not be part of the library. I am sure that will be addressed.
The only issue I have had is the Wifi disconnecting and I am right next to my router.
Its a windows 8/ rt thing because my wibdows 8 computer does the same thing.

No gmail yet. Readability is great. Web pages fill up the screen perfectly. I played hydro thunder hurricane and it ran at 30fps. Looks like a more graphically demanding version of riptide. I have fond memories of hydro thunder from my dreamcast days.

You can get the sd media into the library. It involves going into disk management (via desktop mode) and adding a mapping to a local ntfs folder (you need to create this folder on the c: drive of your surface. Once you do this, you can then add the local directory (I created c:\media and mapped separate folders for each library, i.e. Music/pictures/videos) or subdirectory to your library.
There is a thread on wpcentral discussing this.

Awesome, free app for sms and mms from tablet

Hey folks, I stumbled upon a fantastic app that I wanted to share. It's called mighty text, it's free and it works great. You have to download the client on both your phone and tablet devices, register through your Gmail and then you can start sending and receiving texts and picture messages using your regular phone number. I've seen similar apps but they all require Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity this does not. Sorry I don't have a link but if you go over to the play store and type in mighty text you'll find it

Love it too! Phone stays in kitchen or bedroom while I am out on the deck or the family room with the tablet. This allows me to keep my phone in the charger when I'm home. I also added text to voice reader so when the tablet isn't open, it will still read all of my incoming texts to me.
