Hi i am going on a vacation this weekend and i want some couple of movies onto my sd card, but i cant quiet get it to work. i have cyanogenmod installed, and a sandisk class 10 card. and i have transfered a movie onto the card but it wont play, in any player, if i transfer it onto the internal memory it works just fine. i have tried with several different filetypes and movies. and if i transfer music. when i play the music it skips ( it fastforwads, like in the oldcasettes) th e music and movies work fine on internal memory. i have tried to transfer the movies through windows media player sync options, and just copied the movie onto the sd card when the tablet was connected. and i have also taken the sd cartd into and card reader where i then copied the movie over. will uninstalling the cyanogen mod work, or what?
i wouldreally appreciate some help before the weekend....

If the card is bad then it is bad. What else is there to say? Micro sd cards are only a $1 per GB. I'm sure you can find one on sale today at your local BestBuy, Walmart, or Radio Shack.
Indeed, if your card is bad there's nothing you can do. Doesn't have anything to do with your ROM or Tablet itself.
It may not be a bad card. Some devices see certain brand class 10 cards as class 1 and this causes problems. This was a big issue with some cannon cameras and camcorders about 3 years ago.
Also, only buy sd cards from trusted sources online. Many, many counterfeit cards sold online. Have even heard of people getting counterfeit cards on trusted sites like amazon. I only buy mine from b&h, newegg or locally from bestbuy.

As a mather of fact, I just read that the SanDisk CLass 10 cards have a common issue and that SanDisk even apologized for this issue already.
Exactly. C10 cards can indeed be problematic. I've been using c6 cards for the past 3 years becuase of these problems. I have no need for c10 cards. IMO c10's are really only good for things like cameras tha record at extremely high bitrates. For average use like in a phone or tablet, not really any reason to use a c10. But some people insist on getting every little bit of speed they can.

from my experience, 2GB sdcard usually is class 2 or class 4 sdcard. So it's much slower

So far it has been more than enough for me. I DO use google music however, so that saves a lot of space.

I believe it brings an SD Card. Also its not a pain at least on my end. I haven't reached 6 gb yet and we all have 16 here. Unless u put massive amounts of music into your Memory then that's when Ull have to worry lol. But there's Google music for that (if u haven't been invited yet) I use it all the time but quality is alright, with voodoo its better than beats

i was worried about it too at first but imo the transfer speeds make it all worth it.
and for the record the "16bg" actually amounts to .98gb internal storage and 13.31gb usb storage.
Not a big deal, I hardly fill even half of it..heck my previous milestone with sdcard slot+8gb experienced the same.
again, depends on your usage behavior..horses for courses.
I wasn't sure at first but don't miss having card slot in the end. 16gb is a lot (roughly half full local music and all) and btw the Galaxy Nexus even offers 32gb model (Expansys is listing it in both 16gb and 32gb) if you need more space.
In the end i don't regret getting my Nexus S (I miss not getting it in black tho).
Not a deal breaker in my opinion. Whether it's 16GB or 32GB, you'll find a way to fill it and have to transfer anyways.
I do use my 32GB card for a lot of music, but if Google music becomes more available, then perhaps that won't be an issue. Except I do love my PowerAmp.
Does it make flashing new ROMs any different?

No. Its important to remember there IS a 16 or 32 gb partition that behaves exactly as SD card, the only difference is you cannot remove it. But I don't think of this as a problem because you can just mount it to PC and copy/move everything all the same.

For me, the issue was never about removing it, but more about whether it changed anything as far as modding is concerned. That, and the fact that I could get a galaxy s 2 or even Droid razor with 16 GB of memory then add my 32 GB card for enough space to replace my Zune.

I thought it would be a huge sacrifice before I bought the NS but it has really been a non-issue. There is plenty of space for apps + pictures and I use Subsonic for music. Only issue I foresee is if you plan on shooting several hours of 1080p video as that will easily eat up 16GB.
I've had my NS4G for about 2 weeks after having an xperia x10 for a year with an sd card for storage.
I use mine for music, and I come very close to filling it on a regular basis....I'd love to have the option to recycle my old 8gb card from my old phone, but I can't. And no, it doesn't hold "a ton" of music, as previously stated. I have about 4gb of music and about 4gb for apps, roms, backups, etc. and I have to always pick what music I want to transfer, and what music I am going to sacrifice.
Honestly, it's not THAT big of a deal, but having an option to expand your storage would be a no-brainer, I would think. It's not like it costs that much to add an sd slot...and I'm sure people who use their phone as an mp3 player, video camera, whatever, would happily pay an extra few $$ for the option to be able to expand your storage.
Also, I find it easiest to transfer apps to other people by just backing them up to SD card and inserting it in their phone for a quick install....I can't do this anymore, which means I have to jump through hoops and email the app or worse, use bluetooth, which is always a headache with people who don't know what they are doing.....ALWAYS. SD just saves me from the headaches.
Installing roms, apps, flashing zips, etc is exactly the same...you'll never even notice the difference unless you like to remove your sd card to transfer files all the time, or something like that.
In the long run it's up to you, and if you are used to having expandable storage, you will definitely miss it....but it's the size of the sacrifice that makes it a deal breaker or not.

hey if you want a google music invite PM your email
I rarely miss sd card slot actually never. Google music has all my music and it works every well you can even download your tracks for offline use.Plus my spotify account
I suppose if for someone that wants to load their phone with blueray rips and be able to watch every movie they every owned at any given second it might be a difficult situation.
Flashing roms is the same since your 16gb is partition for internal space then 12gb is left for storage and it acts the same as a sd card, even in a file manager it will show as teh sd card hope this helps
Didn't google release an API for google music, or am I thinking of something else. I would love it if PowerAmp could access google music streaming.

If you don't have a computer or laptop with you, then you can't mount to anything.
I can put GB's of movies on cards and swap them out whenever I want when traveling.
I have 80GB of music. I guess if you have a small amount of music or only want to carry a small % with you, then internal memory is fine.
If you keep phones 2 years (like most do on contract), 32GB might seem like a lot now, but how will that look in 20 months? With a card slot, it isn't an issue- you can upgrade anytime.
All that being said, for most people 32GB with no card slot is probably enough.
I have a cricket muve music ZTE Score
$30 best buy no contract. I am going to use as a digital dash in the car and for timelapse in "risky" situations where I won't care if I lose the $30 phone. not even going to activate.
anyway it came with a 4gb SD card YEAH ! but you only get 1gb 3gb is dedicated to their music service.
suggestions on reformatting this so I can use the full 4gb?
I already stuffed a 16gb in it for timelapse but would be nice to have an extra 4gb card for my wee little 720p spy cams I used on my rockets.
Trying to do the same. Some info i found.
From KydDynoMyte on slickdeals
"You don't have to wait until you remove Muve, but Sandisk did something special to these cards. You can't see the hidden 3GB partition. The only reported method I haven't been able to try yet (all the others have failed) is:
one guy reported doing this to 3 or 4 Muve cards. He put the sdcard in his Epson wireless network printer card reader and transfered over 3GB to the card and it let him do it, then he was able to reclaim the missing space. Not sure if once you get over 1GB on it if you get the whole missing 3GB back or only the space you write to. Also I hope he didn't have the older bad batch Sandisk sent out that didn't have a blue background and required the AAA SD Card fix on market for Muve to work."
From Sandisk
SANDISK SECURE FLASH MEMORY TECHNOLOGY TO POWER NEW CRICKET UNLIMITED “MUVE MUSIC” WIRELESS SERVICE
"With the help of SanDisk, we have created an innovative new way to protect digital content without the use of DRM," said Jeff Toig, vice president and general manager, voice and data products, Cricket. "This solution enables a superior overall experience for Muve Music customers. They will have immediate and easy access to all the music they love while the music industry has the confidence it needs in a secure mobile music solution."
The card itself has a specialized firmware on it that locks off that space on the card as the press release shows -- it's a special form of DRM. Could possibly be CPRM/CPPM DRM.
I've tried poking at the card low-level a few ways but it looks like we'd need to somehow re-set the card's firmware with a "normal" card's firmware... possibly. Or potentially try and see if it's a form of CPRM.
Only thing is Google isn't helping me because the only things you'll find is updating other devices' firmware... not the physical card itself.
There is a firmware update for Muve SD cards released by Sandisk on Google Play.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sandisk.shima.fixer
Would it be possible to use apktool to see what this app actually does? Of course you can always just get a new 4GB microsd card for like $5 so it may not be worth the hassle.
$5 is $5 I have 5 of them so thats $25 or 5 memory card's I won't have to buy for my little disposable micro spy cam's if I can get these buggers formatted.
Hidden files
Using TestDisk I was able to extract otherwise hidden files from the card, MuveMusic_v4.db3 and ComFile.dat. MuveMusic_v4.db3 seems to be encrypted, and ComFile.dat had a reference to 'mkdosfs' contained within. I don't know enough about anything to work with these files, but I figured it was a step closer.
The card is still showing up as 1GB.

How to fully format your muve music sd card
HEY GUYS,
WANT TO FORMAT YOUR MUVE SD CARD FROM 1 TO 4 GB WELL HERE YOU GO.....
MUVE MUSIC 4 GB SD CARD IS MAINLY GOT FROM MUVE MUSIC PLANS SO HERE'S WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO...
1) connect your sd card via your sd card reader or anything else that does the job right..
2)Then download file Drive increaser 2
3)Extract the file and open up Drive Increaser 2..
4)Put the letter of your drive..for example if u have the letter (F u will put F..
5)Choose a name for your Sd card
6) Type the name again to start and Done...check your sd card you will have 3.99GB
IF U HAVE ANY PROBLEMS TRY THIS..OPEN DRIVE INCREASER SELECT DRIVE AND PRESS ENTER TWO TIMES...(DONT PUT THE NAME FOR THE SD CARD U CAN CHANGE THE DRIVE NAME LATER BY LEFT CLICKING THE DRIVE AND RENAME..)
HOPED THIS HELPED =)
anyone familiar with this drive increaser? scam? malware? where to get it ?
Stay away, it does nothing, though cleared the malwarebytes test. I don't know if I am still infected with something else.
It works. I tried it and it opened up the whole 4GB of data. Just google "muze sd format" the first hit should be a blogspot page, then the link goes to zippyshare. Sorry, won't let me post the links.

Tried this out and it doesn't work. It makes the SD card report 4GB of space but I tried transferring a 2GB file to the SD card and after it had transferred the first GB I got an error. This means its still only 1GB of actual space available.

I didn't think space would be an issue for me either. I started using and 8 gig card, then a 16, and now a 32. I don't use my phone for music or video either unless its streaming. The thing is, once you have a nandroid or 6 on it, some ROM add ons, a couple of apps (along with their storage requirements), and a few other things you will notice space filling quickly. I use my SD card for picture and video recording storge as well, but I don't take alot of pictures and video. Its nice to have the extra space incase I need to though. I am a fan of keeping whatever I can on external SD if possible instead of internal. And I also back up the important stuff onto my PC and a backup drive. I just got a PNY 32 gig class 10 at Bestbuy for $39 and the Accessories section lists Amazon deals at around $32 if you can find them. I think it is worth it. Its nice to know the extra strorage is there just in case even if you don't think you will ever need to use it. Plus, you can remove the SD card and make sure the data on it won't be erased or messed up by new flashes and stuff like that. Its also easily transferable.
Off to future shop!!

I've always bought SanDisk myself. Read the reviews of each specific card tho, even SanDisk has had some crappy ones.
Had been frustrating with my new Sandisk Ultra 32g till one day I was about to send my S3 in to demand for replacement, I did a final test of the card on other S3 & phones - & it had the same problem - SO IT WAS THE CARD....
Called Sandisk Distributor & they said it is a known problem between S3 & several SD brands but Sandisk has resolved the issue with the new batch of cards that has just arrived in Dec 2012.
Changed the card one-for-one & plugged it in immediately - Problem solved. Card remains usable again....
So I bought this 32gb class 10 micro SD off amazon.. And it is cheap.. I'm on budget so it had to be.. Anyway, I transfer music to it and once I get like 10 albums on it has a fit... The first few albums I put on work fine, the rest start and skip.. It still registers as being fully downloaded to the SD.. Anyway, as well as that, when I restart the phone, all the albums that don't work properly get deleted magically, and I have like 5 albums.. Is this because I'm using Gmtp on Ubuntu to transfer files, or is the SD not really 32gb? Wtf?!

If something looks too cheap to be legit, then it probably is. Have a search for SD Card Testing software - you'll probably find that your card is actually a 2 or 4 Gig card but they've 'spoofed' the chip to look bigger.
