perhaps anyone else encountered the same issue - i don't know any further with this:
after flashing the o2 xda mini german with the bigstorage rom from: ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/BigStorage_ROMs/DE_O2_1.12.01.zip
via sd/boot-method the speaker doesn't seem to work anymore correct.
it seems like the speaker on the back of the magician is only working when a call comes in, but not for alerts, sounds or a mp3player like mortplayer or wmplayer.
also the speaker and the mic at the front of the mini aren't working.
so i flashed the device again with the original rom, but it isn't working anymore, also not with all the other available roms.
so i tried to adjust the preamp with no success.
let's see if i wake up tomorrow without a bell
I believe you have a hardware problem and has nothing to do with the ROM. There are threads and a PDF file showing how to dismantle and fix the speaker contact.
hmm i don't think so - why should it play the ring sound when someone calls? i also checked if it is the speaker on the back side which is playing the ring sounds - and: yes - it's the one on the back side
No sounds after just 6 months of use on my O2 Xda II mini!
Hi lindsche:
I also have the same problem - no sound coming out of my O2 Xda II mini EXCEPT for the ringtone for incoming calls. I have not installed any new software on my device and I have only had and used this device for 6 months! The only way I can hear anything from the device (including phone conversations) is through the use of the audio ear phones. I have been in contact with O2 Technical Support from the Asia Pacific Region (where my device was purchased) who have been suggesting all kinds of different resets stuff to no avail thus far.
By the way, where is the speaker located on this device??
Any advice would be much appreciated.
yeah, i think its hardware too, i had the same experiance with my wallaby (siemens sx56). The problem was from the audio jack. There is a small switch inside the jack that stuck so the device thinks that you are using handsfree. i tried to plug and unplug it but it make the problem worst. if been looking for the jack parts everywhere but couldnt find one. so when i got my new magician, i always plug and unplug the handsfree very very very carefully.
to upcityhighroller and lindsche: i believe your problem is in your audio jack. if you able to hear the ringtone, but not able to hear phone conversation and other sound, that means your phone thinks you are using the handsfree. best think you can do is check inside the jack with flashlight , make sure its clean and nothing stuck inside.
as per someone else's advice found in this forum, i tapped the device against my palm and the sound came back! i'm very happy EXCEPT now my power button won't work!! my temporary solution is to unlock the buttons so that I can turn on the device using any of the other buttons but now I also have NO other way to shut the device down! (I'm force to wait for 2 minutes of inactivity before it shuts down.)
Any suggestions??
Many thanks!
Not able to pick a phone call using handsfree ear phone.
Hi !
Bought O2 XDA mini, a couple of weeks ago....
I am not able to pick any call when handsfree is connected to O2 mini. I can the hear the ringing tone and listen MP3 too using the handsfree....
I have tried the handsfree on another O2 mini phone and is working absolutely fine...
I called the O2 service center and they asked me to do hard reset....
If it still does not work, they have asked me to give it to service center for repair...
I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem... If so, what is the resolution.??
kindly share your views... thanks.
-Raj
hey i had a simialr problem.......even i hard resetted but the problem persisted.....but when i charged my battery it worked fine...i guess our phone doesnt accept calls if the battery is below 20%
I was desperatly searching the net for a solution and did what you guys were talking about and tried cleaning the headphone jack, i recommend using an air compressor and while u have music playin in media player just gently blow air into the jack, and if that doesn't work try a little more air, the air seemed to clean most of the dust and whatnot that had clogged it, i just had to give it some firm but gentle taps with my palm and and it works fine now. Releived, as i was just about to buy a second hand replacement
Have the same problem with my Mini.
Couldnt hear and be heard during calls, brought the phone to the service center,
they replaced the hardware yet in the end they couldnt figure out whats wrong.
Im using 1.12 right now do you think it would help if i upgrade or downgrade my ROM?
Need your inputs on this guys!
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I am having troubles with my mobile network provider for some months now.
I got the Galaxy R and can't use it with my bluetooth hands-free kit. bt pairing is ok but the audio quality is such bad that it's not possible to understand anything.
I tried the following:
SGR + Volvo hands-free = pairing and connection OK but very bad audio
SGR + parrot hands-free = same
Both hands-free had the newest firmwares from manufacturer.
I tried the device from my friend, a SGS2 which seems to be pretty similar to the SGR
SGS2 + Volvo hands-free = crystal clear audio
SGS2 + Parrot hands-free = same
My conclusion was that my SGR must be defect. I went to the Samsung support and they flashed a "new" firmware (it was the same I already had). Still same problem. Then I took the phone to my network provider (Austrian 3, www.drei.at) and after some weeks I got back a new SGR from them. Again the same troubles with this device. My network provider refuses to swap my SGR to a SGS2, even with a extra charge. Now I'm pretty angry about this **** Galaxy R (sorry )
I have the newest Kies updates installed on it and everything else than hands-free is working.
Does anybody has a similar problem?
Any tips or suggestions?
If not, my next step would be to give this case to my legal protection :-( but I am still hoping...
Edit 1:
Additional Version infos for the SGR:
Samsung Galaxy Royal
Modellnummer: GT-I9103
Buildnummer: GINGERBREAD.XWKI5
SW-Version: Android 2.3.5
Basisbandversion: I9103NEKI1
Kernel-Version: 2.6.36.3-I9103XWKI5-CL577705 [email protected]#3
Hi!
I have 2.3.5 version in my SGR and I have no audio problems with my nokia headset, toshiba headset, motorola stereo headset and ford focus V2C free hand. The synchronization is better than with my old nokia X6, but audio is louder with the nokia, specially with V2C free hand.
If we count that volvo accesories are nearly the same as ford accesories (ford was the owner of volvo until august 2010), we can expect that your volvo free hand has a bluetooth 2.0 nokia module, 100% compatible with our SGR. In the parrot, you can find exactly the same nokia bluetooth module if it was maded before 2011 (parrot changed to another brand in some free hand models).
I suggest to try another device with a different bluetooth brand module. Bluetooth stereo headsets are really good to test that, specially if you use them in a crowded place, with a lot of possible interference. You don't have to buy ones, you can go to a big electronic store, like Media Markt or Carrefour(I don't know where are you from but here are the biggest ones) where you can try different headsets with your phone. If you play a high bitrate song loud and it is not crystal clear audio, your device has a problem and you can use the warranty, or try a custom rom to fix it...of course, loosing the warranty option.

thanks for your post
1.) I tried two SGR with two different hands-free kits. Both were not working with both devices. With a SGS2 I had no problems with both hands-free kits. I'd say that there must be a problem with the SGR.
2.) I'm from Austria(Österreich) a german sproken country in Europe. My provider is called hudchison three (drei.at). Both, the shipped image and the KIES updated image are both not working.
Is it possible to flash for example a standard ROM from Germany over my austrian drei image?
What do you mean with custom rom? I didn't found any for the SGR. Just some custom Kernels. Nevertheless it would be very risky for me to loose the warranty when still having troubles with it.
I use the sony ericsson mw 600 without any problem, and exellent sound
If you don't want to lose warranty, as I said, I recomend to you to go to a big electronics store like Media Markt, where you can find different bluetooth headsets and try them. If you have not really good sound go to samsung service and tell them what is your problem. I know this is not a solution, but without touch your phone it's what you can do, because an incompatibility problem will not be cover by the warranty, but if you prove that your bluetooth has a general problem it must be repaired.
If you decide to taste some kernels, or the new InfectedRom to upload your android version to 2.3.6 you can ask to the developer if it fix your problem. If not, if you have made a backup of your hole device, you will return the virginity of your phone, but you have to read a lot to do all this things if you don't know how.
I don't know anyone from Austria with a SGR from the forum. You can try to find another users to see if they have the same problems. I will probe mine next sunday in a parrot free hand from a friend that has a SGS and it works really well.
Using the sony ericsson mw600 as well, works great, even gets track names if I use the stock music app
Sent from my GT-I9103 using XDA App
problem fixed with latest update from drei.at
Would have posted this in Accessories, but can't ask questions in there
The official Sol Republic Jax earphones to match the Moto G don't seem to be on sale anywhere yet, but I'm really looking for any earphones with a 3-button remote that actually works.
For example, the remote for the HTC RC E240 doesn't register any button presses at all with the Moto G (as tested with different controller apps) despite working well with other devices like the Nexus 5. I guess Motorola have implemented their own system, hope this doesn't mean a Sol Republic lock-in ...
Anyone have any luck with others that work with the Moto G?
Wondering the same.
iPhone earbuds don't work, that's all I know.
Will keep an eye on this thread, I hope someone found a 'fully' working pair of earphones
Yesterday i tried my HTC Sensation headphone/handfree with music controls and only stop|play was working.
But the call|hang and ff/rew buttons don't work... damn, i guess they really changed something :-/
Any proposals ?
No luck
Tried these the other day and nothing worked at all Galaxy tab2 7, apart from sound coming out of them :silly:
Earlier when I bought the phone, I tried the in ear headphones which came with my Galaxy Nexus, the ones with the single button remote. Initially when I pressed the button, it used to stop the music playback & resume while doing the same. But soon it stopped working.
There's something wrong somewhere but unfortunately can't figure it out. Apple In Ear Headphones with remote & the Earpods don't work. Nor does Klipsch Image S4-II (Android) or Sennheiser remotes.
I have two pair of headsets with only one button.
A pair came with a Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000), and the other pair has no brand.
The second pair is the only one that works its button on my moto G (both work on the Galaxy).
Sadly I don´t have 3-button headset to see if they work.
Found a post on the motorola forums but i cannot post it because Im a new user,
the post sais that the moto G is not compatible with 3-button headsets and one button headsets made by motorola and sony works with our phone, another user asked if its a hardware issue or a software issue but didnt get an answer.
I dont know if the people who wrote that are reliable or not, but thats what they say.
Let´s hope its a software issue.

dont know if anyone is still wondering about why they dont work but that link should explain everything
Are there any official Moto G headphones that we could take a look at?
Is there any way to modify your ROM to make them work?
I've used these headphones on an iPhone and Windows phone, when you get a call you hit the button on the headset it answers the phone and hangs up, when playing music 1 push pauses the button, 2 quick pushes skips to next track, 3 quick pushes plays the previous track. The button just doesn't work or my Moto G 4G, I came across an app called Degauss to configure the button, still doesn't work, same with Headset Button Controller
Anyone any ideas?

I have exactly the same issue, I've contacted Motorola and this was their response:
Following our conversation on chat yesterday, I escalated this case to our tech department so they could have a look at the issue you reported. They tested using buttoned wired headphones with the phone once again and can confirm that it works. Most CTIA headsets (the ones that read "made for iPhone" on the box) will work but we cannot assert all of them will.
The earphones we recommend are SOL Republic Jax and I can confirm that these work fine. We have teamed up with them to create a set of high-definition, in-ear headphones that complement Moto G. SOL Republic JAX have built-in controls for calls and music and can be found here (as well as high street shops like HMV and online stores like Amazon)

The first time I contacted them, they told me no one else reported the issue. Through searching XDA, it seems we aren't the only ones with the issue. I wonder what they have been testing with, as the Moto G 4G certainly isn't CTIA compatible. It would be useful if more people brought this to their attention. I have re-escalated my case, will update when I get more information from them.

Cheers for that, I tried a couple of headsets, 1 from Nokia the other Samsung, neither work.
You could try
Droid Examiner and make sure that, in Input Devices, you have both a Headset Jack and a Button Jack (I do in my XT1031->XT1028 Moto G). Some music apps won't use the button.
Headset button works fine for me (xt1045). Generic schosche models, one with single button, the other with three (ipod model).

Ours is the XT1039 EU version, which unfortunately does not seem to be working.
@slugger09 Took a while for them to get back to me, but this is all they had to say:
From the Tech team:
"
We cannot guarantee compatibility with headsets that we have not tried here.
Most CTIA headsets should work but some will not.
I am afraid we cannot be more specific here as we cannot test this.
So far, the only headset we guarantee compatibility with is the Earjax from Sol Republic.

Starting to get really annoyed with Motorola support. You can't even talk to the tech team directly, you need to go through their email or chat support, which they then "escalate" to the tech team. How can they say "most" headsets should work if they've only tested one?! Infuriating.
You guys seem to use some freaky earphones.
I've tested on xt1039 a pair of Sony headphones, that come with Xperia U, they have inline mic and a single button. They work flawlessly, CTIA wiring on em.
Dunno the. exact model, but I can check it if someone requests it.
Also had a pair of earpods laying around from an iphone 5, they also work well for taking call, pausing the music player and skipping songs too.

Thanks for that info liveroy, you're the first person I've seen to confirm that a headset other than the one they "officially support" works. Going to try a few different ones to see if I can actually find one that works..
EDIT:
Found an adapter which completely works, button and all:
http://kitsound.co.uk/product/KSIMIC1/
can anyone tell me which configuration followed and came with my moto G/falcon/xt1033 ?? i'm going to change the wire point at button/mic box by soldering on my fvrt headset...
Just push those earphone plug a little bit harder into the socket

I'm having a similar problem with my new Moto G 4 Play: using iPhone earphone with with microphone. The volume control works, but when I tried to answer a call, some computer voice came on and told me I need to program things... Earphones worked fine with previous phone (Samsung Galaxy S 4) for months. What gives?

Hey guys,
I work at Cricket Wireless here in the U.S. and i'm having a very unusual problem..
One of my customers came in wanted to know why his HTC Desire 510 wouldn't play music through BT in his car, even though it would connect. Every time Pandora or a music file plays, it plays through the phone speaker..
I thought it might just be a defective device so I grabbed a Moto G and went with him to his car to try it out, same outcome. One weird thing though was that an incoming call through the Moto G and the HTC worked over the car speakers perfectly but music would not...
I'm usually VERY good at Android troubleshooting but I am absolutely stumped. Any help would be great..
Oh also his old LG (I believe L70 or L9 not sure) worked fine thru his car BT
And also his car is a 2011, but he tried his HTC in his buddies car which is a 2014 and it had the same problem.
Anyone else run in to this problem? Allegedly Samsungs and LG's work...
