My wifi doesnt work after ROM change! - HTC Desire S

I've recently installed and flashed SVHD 1.7 Android 4.1 Rom. Now my WiFi wont turn on! It says "turning on" and after a while it says "error" instead! Can someone help me? I did exactly as the instructions on the Rom page but still,no WiFi
My kernel is 3.0.42 Fallout 1.0 Tiexiera. My radio/basebandversion is 20.76.30.035U_3831.19.00.110.
Do I need to update those or shall I do something else?
Please help me!

Your phone is s-on, so you have to flash the boot.img (from the new rom) in fastboot after flashing a new rom.
At the moment you're running the previous kernel with the wifi module for the new kernel, which is why the module can't load and your wifi doesn't work.

Hey dude try this kernel, do it step by step as said in the instruction

Good luck!!

Wifi error on sensation

All the solutions for the wifi not turning on error have only been for the HTC dev unlocked sensations. What about for mine which was s-offed with revolutionary.
I'm currently running ARHD 6.6.3. I have also tried flashing the boot.img for both the faux and sebastian kernel but I still get the error. Please is there someone with a solution?
If I'm not mistaken, its because the kernel is not compatible with the rom. Try flashing the from without the kernel
If that doesn't work, wipe dalvik cache. Hope this helps
thanks
i flashed the elegancia 3.7 with 1.6 ghz kernel.
and wifi doesn't work. now i am trying to flash it with 1.2 staDART kernel..

yesssss thats it.
it works now..
IMPORTENT: don't use 1.6 ghz kernel with elegancia 3.7 on sensation.
What do you mean flash it without the kernel? When installing ARHD you have to choose a kernel. There is no option to skip it. I will try to install another kernel.

not "without kernel"
without custom (overlocked) kernel.
use standart 1.2 ghz kernel.
How can I fix that problem ? I can't use WiFi with 1.6 or 1.7 GHz kernel.
Bootloader unlocked, and rooted and custom Rom installed, but s-on.
What can I do ?
Firstly, if I install ruu rom, then again install custom rom, does WiFi work ?
Pls help..

Custom Rom nightmare

Hello Everyone, I am hoping someone can tell me what to do to fix this, I have been searchng and reading and trying things I have found online all day, but without luck. I dont think Im savvy enough to know what is actually wrong.
My Phone :
Australian Telstra HTC Sensation running ICS (OTA update)
here is my problem :
Wifi will not turn on, comes up status of error.
I flashed CWM + supersu v0.89 onto my phone to give myself root access so that I can use the gesture control application and also to get access to the \data\data\ folder for the Dead Trigger hack. this worked without issue.
I noticed that I was having major issues with multi-touch after putting ICS on my phone. I read that this is a known issue with ICS on sensations, and that a custom rom would be my best bet to fix.
I had read alot about cyanegen (or however you spell it) mods on androidpolice, so i decided to give that one a go.
Being a noob, I didnt know my sensation cannot be S-off'd (due to Hboot 1.27) and when I flashed the rom onto my phone, it would not boot passed the boot animation. (I followed the instructions on their site and did a backup with CWM as well as wiping the phone).
Looking into the no-booting issue, I found out that my phone is not S-off'd and is the reason the flash did not work, something about not being able to replace the boot.img and custom kernel.
So I found a stock kernel rom (ARHD 6.6.7) and flashed that onto my phone. this one boots, but the wifi will not turn on.
I decided stuff it, and used CWM to restore my backup, now my phone is back to how it was before I started all this flashing, accept that the WIFI will not turn on at all!
please can someone help me? I have no idea how to fix this, I thought using the recover option in CWM would put my phone back to how it was at the beginning, and with the exception of the wifi issue it did. all my apps and customizations came back.
How can fix my WIFI issue?
I have a Telstra Sensation too & i've never had any wifi problems with custom ROMs.
Did you superwipe between flashing ROMs? & Did you flash a different kernel?
Hi, I tried running superwipe which is on the ARHD 6.6.7 thread, however it got a "status 1" error message, so I used the wipe data and cache options available in CWM (which was the steps listed in the cyanagen mod install)
I also tried flashing SebastianFM's custom kernel, but that gave a "status 7" error message. Is this what buggerd my phone?
Thankyou for the fast reply!
the sole reason for everything is recovery
(ARHD says 4EXT custom recovery is mandatory ..yet you are still using CWM)
now first change the recovery to 4EXT
how and all the bleow guide explains (when you are not SOFF ..but SON and have htc-dev unlocked bootloader ..you have to flash roms ..little bit differentely ..traditional way wont work)
FLASHING ROMS WITH SON
FOLLOW the guide to the letter
i got wifi issues when using faux kernel.. no problem with sebastian's
Thankyou so much for that. That solved my issues completely, I was able to flash Cyanogen onto my phone and it boots, wifi works too!
Can you tell me, can I use 4EXT to flash Sebastians custom kernel even though I am S-ON?

First do the step 5 in the guide that I've mentioned (permanent enabling of smartflash)
Then forget about smart flash and flash any kernel
Alternatively if you didn't make smart flash permanent yet (which I highly recommend you to do)
You can enable smart flash just before flashing kernel and can flash any kernel

HELP!!!!

I recently rooted my galaxy sl using amit bagaria's universal cf root. After rebooting, the wifi wasn't switching on (it gave me an error message). So I googled it an found a solution. I flashed the bam kernel v14 (google it) and the wifi is working properly. Now, apparently the bam kernel v14 is not compatible with cm and i cannot flash any cm rom. Is that how it is supposed to be? How can i fix this? Thanks for all the help

The wifi problem is because you were on a value pack for 2.3.6, and if you root the device you can't use wifi unles you use bam kernel.
About CM, every ROM includes it's own kernel, so if you flash Dhiru's CM10 for example, this will come with it's own kernel and will install it automatically when you install the ROM. There are kernels for each Rom, so beware when you install a kernel on your Rom, first check if it's compatible. I think that's what you read about bam kernel, that is only compatible with Gingerbread.
PS: Please be more specific on the title next time

No, you have to flash it using CWM. Please follow the installation instructions given in CM10 from dhiru:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868074
You are on stock rom, so follow the stock rom steps. You can skip the root step if you already rooted it.
As an advice, I suggest you make a /efs folder backup. This folder from your phone keeps a lot of information about it. I had some problems with 3g and stuff, and recovering it helped me. Before doing anything please read some threads about flashing this device.
Good luck!

[help] wifi problem after flashed custom kernel

Hi everyone, i'm running viper 2.4.1 with hboot 1.14 on my phone right now. However, when i tried to flash other custom kernels , i have a weird problem with my phone as it can't re-connect to wifi ( i set my phone to turn off wifi when screen is off). It's always says error and i have to reboot my phone to get it work again. Here what i've did
- flash elementalX 3.2 kernel=> wifi problem=> re-flashed kernel& boot.img=> still have wifi problem
- switch to beatmode 4.4 kernel=> same problem=> reflash kernel + boot.img from elementalX ( beatmode kernel doesn't have boot.img)==> problem still there
- flash stock kernel=> doesn't work, i guess i have to flash stock boot.img but i don't know where to find it
- fresh re-flash viper rom + beatmode kernel/elemenatalX=> wifi problem
- re-flash viper rom only ( with stock kernel comes along with it) => everything works perfectly
===> so i'm stucked right now. i tried to search in kernels thread, viper threads but there is no answers. Can someone help me to solve this problem?
P/s: i always wipe cache/davik cache before and after i flashed things
The kernel is the boot.img
Are you fastbooting the img
WiFi issues almost always are caused by the boot img
Try and fastboot the boot.img from the kernels that you want to use...and make sure their compatible with the Rom you choose
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Viper Tom Is compatible with elementalx /beatmode kernels I believe. I also always flash boot.img (comes along with kernel) in fastboot mode.

[Q] Wifi wont turn on after reverting kernel

Before I flashed Klin's 4.1 kernel, I was on his 3.1 kernel, and my wifi was still working then. After getting a bootloop from the 4.1 kernel, I reflashed 3.1, but now wifi won't even turn on. I tried wiping cache/dalvik before&after flashing but it didn't work. Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do? Thanks in advance.
Running latest version of Jellybam too btw
