So I'm trying to come back to JB for my 4th go around (I've gone back to stock a few times for no good reason) and I've never had this problem. I went from AEON to Infinitum like I always have, and for some odd reason I can't get into the recovery mode to flash to JB. I've tried the option to go straight to recovery from the power menu, and I've done the 3-finger salute numerous times. I've waited a good 30 minutes before coming here to post this because even though it won't be a long process going back to stock again from ICS, I'd rather not do it. The power button isn't stuck because I have no problem turning it on and off, and there's no bootloops, but I don't know of anything else to try.
Looking in ROM Manager, it says I have CWM 6.0.3.2 installed, so it is there, but it will just sit on ''Galaxy S Cyanogen(mod)'' screen. I thought maybe ''Oh, just reflash it'' but I can't. Because you need to get to recovery for that..
Too late to offer assistance, I just decided to go back to stock and start over, hopefully this process won't repeat itself.
But feel free to offer any opinions or help in case it happens again. Good thing I don't have anything planned for the next 2-3 hours
If trying to get to jb, put infinitum and your jellybean rom on your sd. Then flash CM9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844 It get's you to recovery. Flash Ics then, wipe and flash jelly bean.

I was on Infinitum, and that's where the problem was. I couldn't flash anything else because I couldn't get to recovery mode. I just went back to stock again and went through the processes but ditched Infintum for CM9 this time. Worked, and now I'm sitting on Scott's Beanstalk 1.261

Appologies for not replying to the original MIUI thread. I am not a new user and i am very experienced in flashing roms etc, especially on samsung devices. I have been around for a while now but this is my first post so i cannot post in the dev section yet.
Last night i flashed MIUI to my infuse. I followed the instructions in the op here exactly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278053
I had no problems flashing and everything was successfull, however there were 2 major issues. First being the soft keys. The four buttons menu, home, back, and search buttons did not function at all. They werent even backlit. The volume rocker and power buttons functioned fine. I reflashed from blue cwm twice and still nothing.
This is where i ran into my second issue. There were no posts about anyone having the soft key issue however i did notice alot of people losing their recover and being stuck on the samsung boot screen. This eventually happened to me.
I went to samfirmware and downloaded 2.1 and odin'd it, then odin'd the community kernel to get ext4 and red cwm then restored my nandroid so i am back to normal. I wanted to post about my soft key issue but as i said i had to post in q&a due to my lack of posts.
Any suggestions? if not, i at least wanted to inform the dev of the issue.
Thanks
have you tired CM7, just asking cuz they have almost the same bugs....so i would curious to see if your softkey issue transfers to that rom as well. and if not........
i would try loading up CM7, wiping from the orange CWM and flashing MiUi from there. it Should have worked the way you did itk if you were coming from stock. but who knows maybe seeing if it happens on Cm7 will lead to your answer.
just an idea though
no i havent been able to try cm7 yet as i dont have a build environment set up anymore and havent seen a release yet, would love to give it a shot if someone wants to send me a zip.
i really hope it doesnt have the same issue or ill have to donate this thing to my fiance and get a gs2 or something lol.
Check your mail, you seem to know what your doing so test it out see what happens.
Happy Flashing
Happy flashing indeed, thanks for this im going to give it a go right now, bbl with results.
Hell the only reason i was flashing miui to begin with is b/c i am currently unable to build cm7 so hope this works..
Thanks a ton!!
Ok so heres how it went down.
After my fail last night with the softkeys i did a little research and flashed serendipity s7. So with the cm7 zip you sent me i started out flashing over this since they are both ext4 i didnt think there would be a prob.
Followed your instructions, wipe, flash, pull battery, wipe, flash. After the first flash i was in orange cwm. I didnt give it a chance to boot until after the second flash obviously, but it would boot directly into orange cwm everytime.
From there i decided to odin to stock and flash the community kernel again.
Now that i was back in red cwm and formatted to ext4 i repeated your original instructions and everything flashed just fine.
As far as the soft keys, i have no issues at all. Everything is working just fine.
I was flashing from 2.1 uke3 last night, and thats also what i flashed with tonight and was successfull with.
Anyways thanks for the help glad to say im not having the issue with cm7. much appreciated
--forgot to add i am going to try to reflash miui coming from cm7 and see how that goes if i still get the same issue
--Okay, booted to orange cwm, wiped and flashed the same miui zip as before. Only one wipe and one flash no battery pull or anything. Everything flashed perfectly and my soft keys are functional. Not quite sure what the deal was before but miui is booting just fine. I'm afraid to boot recovery to many times as everyone seems to lose it after a few uses. We'll see how it goes for now, never been an miui fan to iphoneish for my taste but until i can build a recent cm7 rom i need something, was getting bored with rooted stock.
Thanks again for your help!

ok so i rooted a few weeks ago and downloaded the usual apps. super user titanium back up and clock work mod. tried to flash a rom with clock work mod and got the e:signature verification failure message. found a post for a kernal that made clock work mod actually work so i tried to flash a rom. zSimplyAOKPV5_Dark to be exact. now it sticks on boot screen. i have searched for hours and cannot find a way to fix my problem. its my first rooted android and first attempted rom flash and i botched it right off the rip. please help?
Depending on what you did beforehand, you have some options.
If you have backed everything up previously, just flash back to stock with one of the one-click stock roms in the Development section (they're in a sticky).
If you haven't backed everything up, try holding V+/V-/power until it reboots. If it doesn't take you to recovery, you can try to flash a kernel (most likely one that would match the version of android/rom you were running prior to this flash) and see if it lets you into recovery. You'll have to flash it with either Odin or Heimdall, after rebooting into download mode (power off, hold V+/V-, insert USB).
If that doesn't work, though, the stock flashing would probably be your best and/or only bet.
it wont allow me into recovery though i can get to download mode by pulling the battery and pressing just the volume +- and plugging in the usb. i was trying to flash an ics slim rom. thanks for your very speedy response.
i have now tried to flash a stock rom however it is not working from there even with the stock kernal. now it is hanging on the at&t screen.
ok i got it. seems the kernal i flashed to help cwd work properly was the culprit. now i dont know how im going to flash this ics rom im looking at without it.

Flash corn kernel if you have stock gingerbread
Sent from my SGH-I897
The utility in my signature can help you flash the Corn Kernel so that you will have CWM.
I have corn kernal and odin 3 on the computer at home. Ill do that tonight. Any suggestions on a good stable rom for a noob? Preferably ics. I hated posting for fear of being flamed as a noob. My wife keeps making fun of me for it so I kinda have to get it done. I want to fix hers also. Its a great little phone it just seem a bit buggy to me. Very laggy. Thanks for all the help.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
Maybe start with a KK4 based rom such as Legend and then move up to ICS after that. I only say that because there is a bug in ICS that could render your internal SD unusable. It's rare, but when it happens you will not be happy.
Still unable to get corn kernal to flash. I've tried a few of your guys fixes but I'm gonna have to get some other updates to my computer first.

OK im a nub to this site so i just go straight to the problem... i updated to cm9 one day then i decided to go to cm10 but then the Google PlayStore was not working so i decided to go back to cm9 so now every time i start make phone it takes me to CWM and then every time i press reboot , it starts then it goes back to recovery CWM. and Odin doesn't detect my phone. so now i took my friends work and look for tutorials to go from cm10 to stock to install the drivers so please someone help me out on the best you guys can!!!!thank you
Assuming you flashed one of the newest versions of CM10, it converted your filesystem to MTD. CM9 doesn't support MTD. Your only options are to either re-flash CM10, or go completely back to stock and start again. If Odin isn't working for you, there's always Heimdall.

Confirming
I second the answer above, except the only reasons that ive seen for odin to not work would be 1 USB port doesn't work 2 if the person doesn't know how to get into download mode
Apex and stingdude are both right. Go to stock or just re-flash CM10. If you want, flash to CM10 then flash another JB ROM.
sent from my Infuse running UnOfficial CM10 Jelly Bean. You Jelly bro?
I keep running into problems after flashing any ICS custom ROM. (Maybe I should try going to an ICS Stock ROM first).
Most times it just loops on the loading screen.
- Phone is rooted of course.
- I usually have the Emancipation GB custom rom before flashing to this one or a Stock GB with root and red CWM.
- I follow instructions to a 'tee'
- When I do reboot, it loops at Samsung logo.
The last time I tried (Dark Knight ICS Rom), just recently, I flashed then rebooted into recovery (from advance-boot to recovery), and it didn't go to recovery mode, it just looped.
So currently I'm on Stock GB with root and red CWM.
What am I doing wrong?
What are some things I should consider?
Some of the GB custom roms are nice yes, but I rooted mainly so I could get ICS.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer/

Yeah pretty much.
Only happens for ICS ROMs. Well the ones I've tried.
Still new at this, so I'll keep trying and that link you posted is one of my most visited links.

To be honest I was running from using Entropy's build.
Fear of it being too technical (It's actually the first thread I saw when I was thinking of going to ICS). So I used it and my phone is up and running now on ICS.
Won't be able to play around with it as much until I get home from work but thanks for mentioning it again.
Now to go and read the thread all the way through (kidding) well see if the problems he had are still occurring.
Thanks again guys.
For me, using Entropy's build made it easy to go to any other ICS rom for the Infuse- it is great as is or as a "stepping-stone" to other ICS builds. Glad it worked for you.
Yea man it was nice. I don't even need the other custom roms, this has everything I wanted.
And since it has a theme chooser, I'm good for life on the look of it.
I might try and customize my own stuff in the future but for now, all is right with my Infuse. I was going to get the Note but I got a brand new phone right here.
Hi all,
I am using OMNIROM 4.4.4 bigpart in my old EU Wingray XOOM 32GB but I have lots of performance and stability issues (browser crashes, apps freezing, very slow system....). After reinstalling it I still have problems and I want to check if it's due to the device itself...
To test that, I would like to go back to the stock Android 4.0.4 ICS that I was using in my European xoom before the jump to EOS, CM and OMNI.
Could anybody help me on how to go back to stock? Where to download the stock rom? how to remove bigpart? Is it really required to remove bigpart to install the stock rom?
Thanks for any help given.
The best way to go back to factory image is to go back to Android 3.1 honeycomb , firmware HW169
http://morningbeat.blogspot.ca/2012/02/convert-uk-or-other-motorola-xoom-to.html
once you are back to android 3.1, keep check update. until you get the latest 4.12 or stop at 4.0.4 if you wish.

Thanks a lot for answering.
So... I have to download the original Honeycomb software, "reflash it" and update until I get 4.0.4 or 4.1.2 ...
My doubt is ... do I have to "undo" the "bigpart"? Or will the stock firmware install perfectly in my "bigpart" xoom?
Thanks!
the bigpart issue I am not to sure of
Of course you need to undo BigPart. It's well document in Xoom Android development section of this forum.
You need to flash the non-big-part TWRP (2.8.0 or other), wipe everything, reboot intot TWRP, format Data, wipe everything again, reboot into TWRP again. Then you can flash original image using fastboot.
Just to stick my nose in, (and go slightly off topic) have you tried My Android Jellybean 4.2? before you go back to honeycomb you might want to give it a go, runs very smooth and very few bugs (if any!)

I didn't find anything in forum, could somebody help me how can i go back from bigpart to stock partition?
I tried to go back to stock last month and it was a nightmare trying to get it to boot back after the update. My only advise is to leave the thing alone. Or do a wipe in twrp or cwm. BTW, I still can not get my device to boot or enter recovery after my dumb ass tried to get back stock firmware.

I just flashed mine from omni bigpart back to stock 3.1 cause my 1yr old daughter can't keep her hands off my phone...was time consuming researching how to do it. But it works perfectly...I wound up running some script somebody wrote and it pretty much did everything for me... not in front of my PC at the moment but if you are still fighting it PM me and I'll give ya everything you need...
