So I have a question... I've been on google/xda for about 4 hours and still don't have this thing clear. Today I noticed my battery drain way too quickly... I went to the battery section in settings and noticed that the Android OS was way too high in comparison to other times. I started doing some research and came across this FAST DORMANCY thing on many phones draining battery. I tried to research if this is something that applies to us on the Sensation (because most of the posts were Samsung related) and came across a few links here and there for htc devices... the thing is that they were kinda old (2012 and back). I'm running JB on CM 10.1... so my question is: IS THIS FAST DORMANCY ISSUE SOMETHING THAT AFFECTS US TOO?? If it is... can someone point me in the direction of a hack/mod to be able to disable it and test if that helps the battery problem??
Thanks
Already using Greenify and wakelock detector to figure out whatelse might be going on.

Okay I realize this sounds like a stupid question but I'm having legitimately serious problems here concerning battery life on my skyrocket. I'm running mods unamed slim fast rom , link included, and I would've posted this in that thread but after lurking here for years I finally registered the other day so I can't post in dev forums. I'm using whatever kernel it came with cause I don't have enough info on which ones work with it and I didn't flash any radios because I came from stock ics so I was under the assumption that I didn't have to. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway after forty five minutes disconnected from the charger , from full charge, my batrrys dropped to seventy percent. Nothing running in the background, I have a solid mobile data connection and signal, brightness all the way down, nothing running in background . The only thin I've done is text a couple people. I seriously need help on either how to fix this or pointers to a kernel to install that would work with this tom and fix the battery issue. Thanks in advance everybody.

Hello,
I got my (Verizon) Samsung Galaxy S3 two days ago, and rooted and flashed it with the CM 10 Nightly builds after a couple of hours of using touchwiz. Everyone has been saying that they are getting more out of their battery with CM 10, but my experience hasn't been too good. I am getting maybe 9 hours of battery with normal use. When I got the phone I run it down to 10%, turned it off and then charged it back to 100%.
I have turned off 4gb (as I don;t have no real 4g signal around me), have the display on the lowest setting and have even under clocked it to 1.2ghz and it's still draining fast.
I have been reading through some forum threads and there are people with the same issue as me, some say they think it’s a faulty battery so they ordered a new battery but never post back there results.
Others say that doing a reset of the phone/reflashing CM 10 does the trick.
I have also experience my phone getting warm to the touch when just checking facebook or web browsing. My phone core seems to be running at 90-95 Fahrenheit when it feels warm and have never seen it go above 100.
I’m open to resetting my phone, but as I have just set up everything, I would rather not to.
I know this is a lot of information, but any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

a few things.
if youre running a launcher some allow you to backup your homescreen settings, even the free versions
i have never gotten that bad of battery life out of a CM10 rom. Your screen on time is a more reliable idicator of your battery health than hours of use. the hours of use statistic is easy to manipulate
run better battery stats to find any wakelocks you may have to see whats eating your battery.
Re
Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm not sure it's an app that's causing this, as I didn't install anything on the phone once I rooted it for a couple of hours and it was still draining fast.
I have gotten the betterbatterystats app and will post what I find out.
I am also not getting the best battery life. I am on paranoidroid 2.52. I had the phone fully charged, screen on watching a video in skyfire. I did not make 3 hours. Is this what others are getting?
Battery issue
You probably all know this already but the screen brightness level also effects the battery a lot. I set mine to auto.
I'm wondering if you flashed your radio and rpm to the latest leaked jb
I flashed the VRBLK1 build a few days ago with the Rom Manager app and everything seems to work great except for the battery life, even with 4g turned off with the Phone Info app. Just sitting on standby drains about 3-5% of the battery per hour. I am running full stock, unbloated, rooted & unlocked. Is any one else experiencing this with this build? Is there a better kernel for battery usage or a rom that has a few customization's to run better without getting into a fully cutom rom? I'm probably one of a few but I actually like touchwiz for the most part. Also I was searching around and found a link off of droid_life.com and it shows the newest leak being VRBLK3. Any info on that build? I searched here but couldn't find anything for that build. I tend to only trust downloads and such from xda. Never had a problem with what you guys put out!
Well I found the newest leak (VRBLK3) on here and flashed that with Odin and rooted and unlocked bootloader. But my battery still seems to be draining way to quick even when the phone is sleeping. Any suggestions on getting better battery life. Maybe a bad battery? Or am I just delusional in how long I think a battery should last?
I see a lot of posts about mediaserver killing the battery, have you checked that?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
When I check battery usage the top three are Android System 51%, Screen 15% and Media 7%. Is the Media what you are referring to with media server?
battery life my be ****ty on the first charge cycle... then you should see a big improvement once media server settles down.
Yeah let it settle. After every newly flashed Rom, the phone needs to "organize" all the media on the device. Once that is done, phone should be back to normal. This process could take a while, depending on how much media is present.
Sorry I haven't replied in several days, went out of town and dint check the forum. Thanks for the advice! My battery is lasting a lot longer now, I am easily going all day depending on how much I use 4G and such. I guess what it needed was time for the media server to settle like you guys said. Thanks again for the advice!
Ello Folks,
I'm new to this forum and for some stupid reason I can't post within the forum I wanted to, so I hope someone can help me here..
I have been playing with Custom Roms for a long time and I have ALWAYS encountered problems regarding battery drain. I have searched innumerous times for ways to fix it.. I've tried many different ROMS and KERNELS and I always ended up with a massive battery consumption with little use. I then thought it was my battery as the device is quite old so I decided to buy a new original battery and still having the same problem.
I am starting to think that I am really dumb and doing something wrong or maybe I am just unlucky. I got my phone back in 2011 from T-Mobile UK and I am now running JB 4.2.2 Revolt JB I9100 and Dorimanx V9.33 as kernel.
My battery is going from 100% to 0% in like 4 hours. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Batter drain in 4 hours is not normal. But with heavy usage of 3g/4g it can be. As you said you got heating problems too.
So, first with the battery. Install betterbatterystats from play store. Let the battery drain off completely and charge it to 100 in a go keeping data network/Bluetooth/GPS/WiFi in off mode. Check how much time it's taking to charge it from 0% to 100%. Now discharge it off to 0% and Check the rate of discharge. If it's below 5%/Hour you are safe.
But if it is as you said before 4hours battery backup, there must be some trouble.
These kinds of drastic battery drain happens of many reasons.
1. Poor signal strength.
2. Overloading cpu ( which also cause overheating)
3. Any background running apps which utilizing a bunch a data.
4. Bad kernel (we can pick this out as you tried different kernels.)
5. Defective battery.
Or a last chance
6. A hardware failure.
So inorder to find the root cause behind this problem check each of the possibilities one at a time.
In case of cpu, change the governor and I/o scheduler and see.
In case of background running apps, check whichever programs revising maximum amount of battery.
Hope it helps..

Cheers mate,
I am well aware that custom kernels allow me to overclock it and change governors and i/o and that these kinda settings have a major role on how much battery the device will consume. But as I have never really understood the diferences btw them I for once have never played with the values so I have always left 'em at their default value.
The only real reason I've decided to change to a Custom Rom is to get new versions of the Android OS and to get rid of the hideous TouchWiz skin from Samsung..
I am not living in the UK at the moment as got transfered to Brazil for work and I have been on TIM network and they suck badly so maybe cuz their 3G sucks its whats causing my battery to drain like crazy.
But I will definitely follow your instructions and hopefully I'll get a positive result..
Once again, thank you very much.
Hello!
I only recently got an HTC One S as my old GS2 broke and I'm damn please with this phone except for the battery. I'm pretty sure I have the S4 version as all the benchmarks say it's 1512 Mhz and running the latest stock JB I believe. Problem is I get like 8-10 hours max out of this battery and that is not even using the phone that much. Is there anything to do/check to help with this poor battery? I already am using all the saving options, remove every unnecessary app that was draining my battery.
Please fellows, this is my first time posting here but I've been browsing this website many many times in search for roms and tutorials, this is the first time though I'm asking for any help.
Anything will be appreciated!

Stock ROM?
3G always on?
Bluetooth / GPS on?
Screen on time?
How old is the phone?

Yes, it's a stock ROM
3G is not always on, I set it to not sync automatically and turn off when the screen is off.
Bluetooth and GPS are never on.
Screen on time is really low as I don't really use it that much. I always am below 30% brightness though.
I can't tell you for sure how old is it but I'd say a year?
Does the battery drain while the screen is off? This phone wastes almost no battery with the sceen off, so if you notice such drain you'll probably have some kind of wakelock. You can check using "wakelock detector" app.
By the way, the battery should last longer then with your GS2, especially with 3g enabled.
