[Q] Factory reset breaks sensors. (RESOLVED) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm having a problem where if I do a factory reset, it makes my sensors go off. It shows the gyroscope rotating by itself and the accelerometer shows that I am leaning the device away from me on a flat surface. The only way to fix is to use my backup on bonestock 3.0. It doesn't matter what ROM I use or what version, it won't go away after doing the reset. Calibrating does nothing.

Anyone?

I fixed it! Spamming the calibrate button seems to eventually forces the system to stop using old miscalibrated files.

My auto rotation stopped working, has this happened to anyone else?

You sure you didn't turn it off by accident?

I checked that, turned my phone off and on. Nothing...

Does it not work with anything? Or just a specific app? Some apps allow you to specify for that app only, even if it differs from the system setting.
It doesn't work on anything

Maybe have accelerometer went bad. Have you tried anything besides autorotate that uses that?
On YouTube I have to double tap the video to get it to play full screen. In the browser I have to put it on portrait mode only. I can't look or take pics in portrait mode

Have you tried a factory reset? If you get to the point where you tried everything else I would back all your data up then try that.
Which rom are u running or are u running stock?

I say try the bubble level app. See if that seems to work right. That will tell you if there is something wrong with the accelerometer. If that is bad, that would explain why it isn't sensing what way it is being held.
ya what rom are you running cause it might be within the notification bar the far right notification in weapon rom it has it in there, if so, try clicking it and then going to landscape mode.
Stock 2.3.3

I don't know what I did, but I went into my account then auto rotate started working again

Did you install a rotation widget, turn off rotation, then delete widget? Re-install widget, reset, then delete.

Are u on the weapon rom? Cuz I did turn mine off by accident I pulled status bar and figured out it was the last setting on the right, I had same problems as u pics only in portrait etc. I'm telling u it prolly got switched off by accident

What is this screen...

And how do i keep it from coming up? It shows up randomly while plugged in and it goes to it everytime i hit the home button. Ive tried resetting all defaults on any launchers and any accuweather apps. The only way i can get rid of it is to either hit the back button all the way to the home screen or reset the phone

Ics has an option under settings. Display. Weather. To enable or disable this.

I think that is your dock screen. I had that problem with a powerskin battery. The phone thought it was in a dock. I replaced the powerskin and it went away.

I guess i should mention im running sky ice rc7. Not sure if this is something specific to the rom or not.

Is the option enabled?
It should be located in the display options or in your notification bar
It's enabled. I was messing around with the app rotation control and I have got the rotation to work but I have to select whether I want portrait or landscape mode. Which sucks. But what is up with the gs3 rotation control not working. I notice that when I try an rotate the phone the screen dims slightly but does nothing! Its a Verizon gs3 flashed to ntelos.

Tapping toward top of phone turns on screen

I'm noticing that when the screen is off and I tap toward the top of the screen the phone screen turns on. I just noticed it today but it happens every time I tap the top of the screen. Also when the screen is on and I hover my finger toward the top part it selects buttons on the screen as if the sensitivity is high up there. Thinking of returning the phone for a new one but wanted to know if others had this problem.

It could be a problem with your sensors I'd call Samsung or take it back to sprint

I would boot in safe mode and confirm it's not a third party app before taking it back. Also poke through all the settings to be sure motion and accessibility features are off. Safe mode instructions for the s3 or s4 worked for me. I forget how to do it but Google is how I found it

Thanks for the help, I figured out it was an app causing it after all
