[Q] Jelly Bean Leak 1 for AT&T Flashing Instructions - Motorola Atrix 2

Mods please delete

Dbstudioz said:
I know turffe has created a thread regarding JB leak 1 for at&t users. There are many users who really want to flash it and thank him for his hard work but they and I, both, cannot understand the instructions. This is just to ask, for me and all the other at&t users who want to flash the leak. Please provide clear instructions to flash the leak. Thank you for all your hard work !

If you can't understand the instructions then you shouldn't do it. You also shouldn't start a new thread for this. If you need clarification ask for it in the thread that was already created by turffe.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.

If you would read the instructions for yourself you would see that they are indeed vague after the steps to backup the CID. It isn't my incapability to understand, just that the op left out a few details. Also it says to flash the zip when actually it isn't even flashable but a backup instead. I just want clarification. If this thread is actually a nuisance then I will delete it.

Like 1 bad wolf said "if you do not understand then you should not be doing it".
I completely understand what he is saying to do, and Obviously you somewhat understand since you realized that the backup is a backup and not a cwm flash.... but yet you still need to flash it with BMM, it is laid out in there pretty well.
As we always say in here, "Read, Read, Read it again, and do NOT do anything until you understand".
Also this is the second post you made on the same subject today. Please in the future do NOT post new threads for things like this. There are 2 threads that would have already helped you other than this one, which had been created long ago. If you can not post to the one in the development section then read some of the ways you can up your post count in the XDA general section.

Droid Charge Unroot!

I have a droid charge and I rooted it. I want to unroot it and re root it so is there a way to do this? I've found a few threads that have links to guides but none of them have worked so far. Can anyone give me a working link to a guide to unroot my droid charge?
Thanks
Why would you want to unroot and then reroot?

This has always worked for me, the bad thing is that you fall back to factory defaults,
Go to this thread from I nuts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
Now download the PIT file and choose what version you want ep4 obviously being the latest, now flash using Odin, i usually take out the SIM and the SD card.
You now have a completely stock non rooted phone
Now to root it it depends what version you got;
if ep4 then simply flash the latest CWM(clockwork mod) found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112804
and then install a repacked kernel like imoseyon 4.0 and also a superuser.zip found here on post#2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20723064
and then you will be rooted again

He's not posting just to get his post count up. If you read through these forums, you will see kvswim provides a lot of help with his posts. Asking why you would want to unroot, then reroot is a logical question since it doesn't make sense to unroot then reroot. And I wouldn't call asking that question flaming. If he called you a moron for wanting to unroot then reroot, that would be flaming. I could list the step by step process of unrooting and rerooting for you, but the attitude you displayed in your response makes you undeserving of the help IMO. When you start a thread asking for help with as little information as you provided in your first post, you are going to get follow up questions. Are you stock or are you running a custom ROM? What process did you use to root in the first place? What is your end goal for this process? The more info you provide without attitude, the better people can help you and answer your question and the more likely you are to get help and get your question answered.

It doesn't matter, I got help from someone who didn't ask stupid questions. Why I want to do it is irrelevant! I asked so I could get information not so I could explain why I want the information. If you won't help me unless I explain why I want to do it, then frankly I don't want your help! So you don't have to help me. I want to do what I want to do whether it makes sense or not! So yes I consider it flaming because the question is irrelevant to the original question. I didn't explain why I wanted to because I don't feel the need to explain myself to everyone who wants to know! Yes I did post very vaguely and I apologize for that, and if those had been his questions "Are you stock or are you running a custom ROM? What process did you use to root in the first place? What is your end goal for this process?" then I wouldn't have had the attitude, but my reasons behind wanting to do this is none of your business, and again if you need to know my business before wanting to help, then don't bother posting! So there is your reason behind my "attitude". Yes my response was out of line, so I apologize, but I did feel the need to explain why I answered why I did! So again I apologize to KVSwim for answering the way I did!

Out of curiosity, can you explain your setup and method of rooting and un-rooting? It is kindof funny that I haven't put with thought to un-rooting other than flashing to to bone stock. I figure you could delete Superuser but I think you'd also have to flash the stock kernel (I haven't noticed a seperate file for that though.)

Also, when you do ask questions, give more info about your phone so the guys who know what they're doing have a chance of working out what's wrong. :banghead:

Dont be a fool here. When people asked you to search, is because very similar or exactly the same questions/issues have already been asked, discussed and solved. And when people ask u to give more info, provide it eg, hboot, s-off, relocked.

Thanks Rain - you getting in there meant that I didn't go diving in and ripping the OP a new one for his attitude. I almost expect it from a newbie, but not from someone who has been on XDA for 7 years (even if they haven't exactly participated much). I guess that with him having not posted anything for almost the whole 7 years he probably hasn't been on here and is a virtual noob anyway.
I really don't understand why people are unable to firstly search and secondly to follow instructions given when they ask for help

[Q] Easiest way to get JB on HOX

Sorry that I am a noob, but I have been reading threads for a couple hours and haven't found a source that will answer my question.
What is the easiest way to get JB on my HOX?
I have ran into some that seem easy but only to find that I need a CID of HTC_xxx where mine is CWS_001. After a post directing me to this forum I have continued to try to find something to help me get JB and no luck. If there is a post that describes this please reply with it, or if anyone would be kind enough to post directions on how to do this that would be greatly appreciated.
Again, sorry that I am a noob at this, first Android phone, switched from iOS after Apple's disappointing "new phone", aka iPhone 4s with an extra row of icons.
Thanks!

First, you can use this tool to easily root your phone, (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426), then flash any JB ROM you like and just follow the instructions.

You have to change your CID from the AT&T default before you can unlock anyway. Once you do that, it doesn't matter anymore.

The CID will be changed to 1111111 before you can unlock your phone and then root, so don't worry about that. Happy flashing!

Ok...all these noobs getting the phone for free are now pissing me off completely. If you want to overcome being a noob, you have to put in time to read and search. DO NOT DO ANYTHING BEFORE FEELING COMFORTABLE WITH THE INFORMATION AT HAND
Being a noob means you should have at least watched the noob video when signing up. If you did not you broke the first rule of XDA and you need to watch it. If you did watch it(which I suspect you did not) you would know to search and read before posting. The community is here to answer questions we all have, but not questions that have been answered over and over again. Nor to spoon feed you.
oh ****...i know whats going to happen after he gets it rooted.......Don't you?? i see a brick coming up from attempting to flash the EVO OTA.
zac507, there is no official jb sense for our phone. someone should of stated that in the first reply shame on ALL of you. if you read his OP you would see he already tried flashing the endeavoru jb rom which is why he got the CID error.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044729
Here are GREAT guides for noobs basically from start to finish here. When I was first starting I made a Q&A thread ONLY after reading enough to where I was confused and not confident in going forward without consulting others.....The key here is that you need to read and understand what you are doing first before you ask for help otherwise what good is the help?
Anyways, good luck reading and hopefully everything goes well

Thank you to everyone (except Chef). I will continue to read and do research before rooting or flashing my phone.
Chef, I have read through the forums quite a lot, asked others who have flashed other Android devices and watched many video tutorials on the subject. But before doing anything I wanted to ask a specific question that I did not see in the forums to get a clear and concise answer. Since I PAID for my phone, I do not want to brick it, hence my thread. I suggest you pull your over-inflated tech ego out of your swollen rear and learn to read. I said I was a noob at this. Noobs have questions. People on forums answer questions to help them. You, on the other hand, just act like a prick and contribute nothing to the thread. Thanks for absolutely no helpful information, please stop posting on any forum if this is how you do it.
Again, thank you to everyone else who replied. You were very helpful!

Where do I begin to correct this post?
First, let's start with the fact that you asked "what is the easiest way to get JB on HOX?" Well assuming you read, and searched and etc. you wouldn't need to ask that question considering you would have had the answer already because you in fact read and you would know that you can flash countless JB roms if bootloader unlocked and rooted.
My over inflated tech ego must have got in the way though. Even though you asked a question which is so similar to all the other JB related questions asked on this forum.
Obviously you need to continue to read(skimming and reading are different) considering the fact that you try to run an international RUU on your phone...
I was looking out for your best interest, if you want to take it to a personal level and call me a prick so be it, but I sure hope I help ingrained the fact that you need to read more before tinkering.
I think my rear is swollen I should go lay down
Zac, if you have any trouble or need help I for one would be willing to help, sent you a pm so we don't offend anyone else in here.

guys, its probably very off topic question, but I will have my HOX this friday,
we have JB over 4.2.1 over there, but we are currently in war with SOD because of google lol
awesome devs and kernel over there too
my question is
isnt the current stock from HOX cool enough?

Where the heck is "over there"? I assume some other device.
If somebody with 400+ posts on here doesn't get the purpose of custom ROMs, what the heck have you been doing here all this time?

Proper Tutorial for Installing ROM

guys i can't find a complete with everything covered tutorial for installing a custom rom on an |Atrix with ICS 4.0.4 branded with AT&T... i want to install JB on mine, i've rooted with cwm and BMM as well.... a proper guide would be helpful
Do you by any chance mean cwm is atrix bootstrap? If that is the case, you cannot have both at once. Use bmm to install jb custom rom. Head over to dev section.
1. There is thread how to use bmm
2. Reboot into recovery, tap android picture before it boots into default system.
3. Tap setting button and activate system 2.
4. Create size for any partition system 3-6 that you want to flash
5. Flash rom, and voila. Enjoy.

Step by step instructions are already posted in the op of every ROM thread. There really is no need to clutter the forums just reiterating the already available information. It's kind of up to you to to the proper research before trying any of this stuff. Just be sure to read over the op thoroughly because what you're asking for has already been given. If you have trouble understanding the instructions then I would strongly advise you to wait until you do understand or else you're just asking for problems.
There's also a complete tutorial on how to set up bmm that is posted in the general section. It has all the info you'll need for using bmm.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Well said and btw there is a thread now on how to install ROM's wid BMM on the devlopment section....:good:

Yes an other noob questions

...
If your phone model isn't listed as an option, don't install that ROM. It will be the end of your phone. If you visit the Skyrocket Q&A forum and the dev forum for, well, any phone, there are loads of tutorials on how to flash safely. Please read them first and follow their instructions, along with the ROM instructions, or brick.
Unless you want to prove how 1337 you are. Then, by all means, install the ROM and prove us wrong.

Yea definitely seems like a better idea to follow the instructions for the specif ROM. Any recommendations on one? not looking for anything fancy just wanna get rid of the stock one and because for some reason my phone is currently on version 2.3.5 and i am not being able to install anything from the marketplace. so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Read the Skyrocket dev forum and decide for yourself. Recommending a ROM would be an insult to all the other devs who've put time, effort and sometimes money into designing their own.
im sorry i am just going nuts now with all the stuff ive been reading and i think i gotta take some steps back to make sure i got everything right.
i have clockworkmod 5. something and from what i was able to read i need the to update to the most resent version. So i found a copy of 6.0.4.5 but i am unsure on how to update it. Tried to put it in my sd and run it by booting into clockwormod recovery and installing the zip. it says it installed successfully but it is still in version 5.
Any help with the would be much appreciated

Seriously, dude, they're at the top of the page in the Skyrocket Q&A forum. I know you're new and I'll avoid verbally thrashing you, but if you don't learn to search (or, at a bare minimum, read the stickies), you're going to hate it here.
