You can try my rom.... catyrom or any of the i9000 ports...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I currently have tried refuse 1.7, caty 1.0 & 1.5; currently running caty 1.5. I would recommend caty rom, the only thing I notice is the data sometimes cuts out and I have to restart my phone, also it shows the rom as "caty v2.0" in the "about" section of the phone, but the post says 1.5 so I am not sure what it is. But it's very simple to install and to run. Just make sure you follow directions to a T. When it says to let it reboot and sit for ten minutes actually do it. DONT FORGET TO HAVE A BACKUP IN CWM. Make sure it's rooted, I tried to root mine with Superoneclick and it didn't root properly, I had to use the odin with 3e recovery and root preset, then I was able to install roms. Good luck to you.
Yea...sorry...need to fix build prop...lol...keep forgetting to do that...and the service cutting out may just be the modem...

Are you using ROM Manager? if so, that is probably why you can't get it to work. just 3 button into recovery mode, go to backup and restore, and click backup. It should take a little while to work, and you can watch it go through all of the files as it backs them up.

Do not use rom manager!! When you transfer ron from computer make sure you send it to your 14 gb SD card and it will show up...do not flash anything or download any roms thru rom manager!

It is also helpful to create a folder on the SD card named "1 rom" so you can keep all your downloaded roms in one place and then you also don't have to scroll far with the volume keys since the folder will be at the top of the list all the time

[Q] Stock rom backup help?

So I have been trying to make a backup of my stock rom but I get an error, can anyone please help!?

There are plenty of stock images in the development section. I would use those instead of trying to make my own. Just my opinion.

Titanium backup question

I was never prompted to create an account when I downloaded titanium backup. How does it work when I wipe and flash a new a rom? Or get a new device?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
It saves the apk & data on a file on your sd. Just put the backup in your new phone sd and tb will recognize it.
Cool thanks for the reply.

It probably restored the data on the SD. Use a file explorer and try to paste and replace it in root.
You would have to find the file in the phone data I think. Can't rmb.

Well I did move it to SD card. Then I got a new SD card. Tried to see the files from my old card on my computer and was going to transfer them but there didn't seem to be anything on it important?? If that makes sense. And in titanium backup I had all my user apps on SD card buut nothing showed on my computer.

Hi.
Can I make a backup of WiFi settings - passwords from one Rom and restore them to another?
I used to have problems backing system data up from different ROMs. But you can try it, should be under backup system data in TiBu. WiFi settings maybe?

Cwm 6 Backup

Hi community, i have a stupid question. Im on ported ics with darkroom v2 version and i want to make a cwm backup. Iam everyday online in xda and read many threds, i read often that users had problems to restore their backups with cwm when they are on ported rom. Can it happened to me? Or how to make a right backup that later i can restore without problems? Do i have to flash ported rom and then to restore?
Thanks for your answers

I am on ported ICS i have made a CWM6 backup a week ago, that I can't restore now (it gives me a md5 mismatch error).
You can make a backup, and after a restart try to restore it. You can immediately say if your CWM backup function is working.

Try TWRP ,, twrp recovery has many advanced options that let you disable this useless function (MD5) , plus it's much faster and came with a build in terminal and file explorer .
Try my tool to do that .

A folder named 0 keeps multiplying in my files and it's annoying!

Any idea how to get these to go away and keep my files? My actual files are stored on the last sub folder named 0. This always happens whenever I flash a new ROM and it freakin sucks!
I even lost my nandroid backup! This is infuriating! I'm lucky that I only use this for entertainment and nothing important was lost.

Please inform me your recovery version. One of Google result for "/data/.layout_version": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34231316.
"In Android 4.2 multi user accounts is introduced. The first time you update to 4.2 data of the first account is moved from*/data/media*to*/data/media/0. Let's call this process migration. A file is written in this process as well:*/data/.layout_version*This file is important. It holds information that the migration has been completed and should not take place during other factory resets in the future). But during a factory reset this file is removed. Effectively stating that the migration has not occured, hence the reoccuring migration (data/media/0,*data/media/0/0,data/media/0/0/0*etc) after consecutive factory resets."

But if you are not careful when flashing ROMs, you can end up with extra 0 directories, because custom recoveries do not usually format data/media by default when doing a factory reset. Formatting the internal sdcard, before flashing will fix the multiple 0 directories, which can be a nuisance.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
By formatting /data, if recovery can not handle it well, then this problem will be reproduced. You also can reproduce this problem by removing /data/.layout_version  I knew about this problem because my work on dual booting kernel, when CM 10.1 refused to boot. Resolved by "echo -n 2 > /data/.layout_version"
