Need recommendations for headphones! - Nexus 4 Accessories

I have some headphones but with a case, it won't fit because the jack thingy is too big. :/ So I want to get another one with high quality sound that fits in a Nexus 4 with a case. Thanks!

why not go bluetooth? been using LG Tone and Tone+, highly recommended.

Head-Fi is my defacto go to for headphone recommendations.
Be warned, these are fairly sizeable web pages.

Are the latest bluetooth earphones the same fidelity as the corded earphones? I user them a year back and wasn't convinced by the SQ.

They are good. I mean the SE MW600 are actually quite good for the price. The touch volume is a bit touchy but it sounds pretty good and you can use any in ear headphones you like, even the one that doesn't fit your phone. There are updates to the MW600 so you may want to look at those too.

V-Moda Crossfade LPs. They are on sale on amazon for $75 as their gold daily deal. Super headphones. Love them.

Also agree with this as well, but most people like simple earbuds as well. My go to ear buds are the Sol Republic AMPS HD for mowing and yardwork. Lounging around I use my V-Moda M100. My Crossfades are used by my 4yr old watching movies. If it's comfy for her, it'd be comfy for anyone lol.

Not even close. But since I listen to podcasts mostly, bluetooth is fine. The LG Tones are actually pretty cool, and work great with the phone as well.

I have Bose ie2 and they are amazing. $100

Audiophile headsets?

I use my headsets about 80% of the time... that said the oem headsets are not as loud as I would like them to be. They are ok and just that.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good audiophile headsets for around $50-$70 bucks? I saw Zagg has some but I didn't like that the volume on the headset used a sliding mechanism. I would have preffered a rocker or buttons.
I liked the zagg because it had the mic and everything. I wouldn't buy a headset without the mic for my phone.
I do use the phone as a media player (movies & music) so does anyone have any sites I could check out?

Headphone.com is my go-to source for headwear. There's a bunch of headset options in your price range.
look up Grado. they make great headphones... they have entry levels in your price range if you find them on sale.
here's a good site:
http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=45&sort_on=title&sort_by=&view_all=true
they're also on amazon for the same price.
Check the impedance (given in ohms)
The volume issue most likely has to do with impedance. Headsets with high impedance will have less volume than those with lower impedence. Higher impedance models will tend to last longer, though. Just something else to keep in mind.

shure has headphones made for phone usage with mic and such built in.
I've got Ety's, Shure, v-moda, Sony, Bose, etc and I keep coming back to these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DREX300i...TF8&coliid=I2UPGX0VBD6T7G&colid=18N1HGC0EJEDW
I have the ones without the inline control, but I think I'm going to get these or go back to Bluetooth with the Motorola S-10 HD when those come out on the 28th.
Will these work for sure on the G2?? Looks like I'm going with these...
The grado's are too expensive with a mic. Its redick and the reviews I have read aren't that positive compared to the sonys.

I haven't had a chance to use those specifically, as I have the "normal" version of those to listen with (and they sound great with nice, tight bass). I went to test my v-modas with my G2, and they keep launching Subsonic rather than the stock music app, but I assume that it works just like it did on my Nexus One. The volume buttons will NOT work on the Sonys (or any others that are for the iPhone 3GS/4), but the call button should work with the music player and answer phone calls.
Kicker makes some of the best headphones. I have the EB91M. The fit very deep in my ear and have tons of bass. I got the M series so I would have a mic to use with my G2.

I have V-Moda Vibe Duos for awhile now. They've went through 3 designs the past 3 years I think. So far, the headset works pretty well but the headphones are more tuned for dance music meaning you'd have to boost midtones in the EQ to flatten the spectrum you hear. Otherwise, it has been pretty good so far.
A pair should set you back $40 - $70 depending on where you find them sold.
whenever this conversation comes up, I have to pimp the Head-Direct RE0.
$350+ sound for ~$70
I currently use:
Sony Ericsson MW-600 Stereo Bluetooth headsets -- they have a mic clip with OLED display that clips to your shirt and a stereo jack to use any headphones you want to it. They work great. Also has an FM Tuner built-in if you want to use that and can pair to two BT devices at once.
I also use Sony MDR-NC7 noise canceling headphones. They are fairly inexpensive for what they are -- $50-$70 USD (I paid 50 at Target). They have decent noise cancellation and are very comfy for long airplane rides. Sound quality is above average. Great for the price, but its not the best.
As far as earbuds, I use the ones that come with my SE BT headset and they sound pretty good. Again, not great, but good enough. The real limit factor is the phone itself. It's not the best audio player in my opinion.
Where can I find these?

NOTE: There is no microphone, which might make this pointless.
Also, if you want accurate sound reproduction, these are EXCELLENT. However, if you need ear-drum bursting bass, look elsewhere. I can honestly say these phones are some of the most accurate I've ever used, and I've bought some EXPENSIVE cans in my day.

Headphones - Galaxy S

Hi. I'm going to bought headphones.
I'm thinking about
AKG K518, K450, K540
ATH-D40fs, ATH-M40fs
I have voodoo sound and i need good headphones.
(music - rap)
Any ideas, suggestions?
Other (better) headphones?
Well, AKG are the best according to any music freak, but be careful about the neck band ones, some of them are worse then cheaper headphones.
I'm using Sennheiser headphones I bought for 29€ (not professional, of course) and they sound really great. Go for Sennheiser if you're unsure.

Get the Xtra bass headphones from Sony(MDR-XB500/700), Best quality you can get for your money (especially with listening to rap)
They are superfine to wear and good build quality. Dont get the 300's (they suck) Get the 500 (under 50 Euro) or the 700 (around 80 Euro)
You should get headphones with inner bass for rap.
I've got Koss Porta Pro - best for this price I think
For hip hop / rap i recommend u buying beat by dre
Beat by dre is too expensive... I want to give 70-100$ for headphones.. How about numark redwave?

Using Voodoo on JVB, for out and about Sennheiser PX100's are an option, great sound out of them, for home listening I use Sennheiser HD485's, use them for watching blu-ray through my receiver too they sound brilliant for their price. If you want something ultra portable but don't like true in-ear buds pick up a pair of Sony Fontopia MDRED21LP's they're the perfect compromise between over- ear and in-ear, and thanks to supercurio they sound way better than they have any right to.
Anybody know where I could pick up a pair of AKG K412P's? I don't want to buy from a Chinese seller online, want the genuine article not clones.
+1 for the Sony's - I've used these for a few years and they are great!
I've even used these in the Gym and they don't fall out like some do.
Guys i want to headphones, not earphones I was thinking a lot about Sennheiser HD380 pro and AKG 518. but Sony XB700 are interesting too
I would buy the K 518. The sound is amazing for that prize.
But for mobile phones i prefer in earphones like the monster turbines.
Just wondering what are the best in earphones that stay in your ears. I had the galaxy s earphones that came with it and they always fall out my ears when i'm not even moving so then i got some JVC earphones and they stay in my ears but the quality is awful any help or ideas would be great would pay upto £30 (45 euros) thanks.
How about Goldring NS1000 headphones I use them with Voodoo sound & listen to rap as well & I can say with confidence they are well up to the job ....
If play.com ship to your country then they are EUR 68.99 free p&p ....
Thanks for the response but it's for my birthday so it can't cost that much however I have settled for the seinheisser (can't spell) earphones maybe the cx400's

No problem, you won't be disappointed
@OP
To get crisp, clean and detailed low ferquencies (or in other words BASS) for 70-100$ you will need to buy open back headphones. Closed ones in that price range are absolute crap, they always sound like the music is coming from a basement/warehouse/bathroom. So basically your choise comes down to:
1. Koss Porta Pro
2. Sennheiser PX100/PX100-||
The Porta Pro are fine headphones, but for bass heavy music you will probably find them a bit lacking plus they are not very comfortable.
The Sennheisers are brilliant at the price of 35-50 Euro. They absolutely destroy everything else in the compact class headphones when it comes to bass reproduction. They are also much better than many more expensive and quite a lot bigger headphones.
Note - Avoid in-ear ****e in that price range. Should you choose not to listen to me and go for in-ear, then at least make sure that you can actually stand their presence in your ear for more than 15-20 minutes.

so do both of the above have buttons/mics that work well? I've noticed with two other headsets that they had problems with noise, in comparison with the stock headsets.
For example, using a skull candy (not the best) set, when driving the voice recognition would often not work. Whereas, the stock pair would.
If you get the UE TF10's on sale, you have to get a cord with a mic for it (cords are swappable/replaceable), but yes, it works great.

My recommendation would be to plan on spending a little money. For one thing, it will be worth it and two it might take a couple sets of buds to find a pair that fit right.
Also, for me, I don't use a mic on ear buds. I'd recommend the Backbeat 903s for phone calls. They really work great this way and I was never a fan of bluetooth earpieces before them. They also double as headphones but I found when I had an iPhone that they didn't always work as well with the phone in the pocket. I just got my Skyrocket so I need to test them out. I usually use my PX 200 II Bs for music though because they travel well for over-the-ear headphones and sound better for music than the 903s.
Those S4s someone recommended do look nice though. Amazon has a good price on the non-mic version (just S4). I'm almost tempted to buy them
The Klipish image s4 look promising, I read the review for the non mic ones and look great. The s4a are even better since they have mic and volume controls compatible with android.

I like the Klipsch S4a (especially for the price), but it is NOT noise CANCELLING. It's noise ISOLATING.
On the SR (and SGS2 for that matter), the Klipsch doesn't shine though. The IEM already produces somewhat bright sound and muddy midrange, and the SR's tendency to muffle sound doesn't really help.

It all depends on what sounds good to you! I am a beats by Dr. Dre fan and have a pair of the pro studio. I do also have a BlueAnt headset for the calls. I find it really easy to slide the headset in and fold the one headphone back a bit.
It all depends on you! I personally would use the headphones of your liking and either hold the phone towards your face and you can hear what the other end is saying via headphones; or just grab a Bluetooth headset like I have.
I would also strongly recommend an a media player that has an equalizer. I personally use Winamp Pro. but there are tons out there!
Shure SE215
I love my Shure SE210's. I've had them for a few years now. Only problem is that they are strictly phones, and not a headset. The newer model has detachable wires that can be replaced with a microphone/headset wiring. The SE215 looks to be about the same price as the aforementioned Klipsch S4A. Plus, the Shure phones are higher impedence, and considering the headphone output on this phone is pretty high, I'm not sure how good those Klipsh will sound.

What do you think about the google headphone

I want to buy headphones to my Nexus 4, and I want to know what is your opinion about the google headphone, or the ibeats (Dr. Dre).
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
If you like your headphones bassy and overpriced, go for the ibeats. But I doubt the controls will work as they're made for apple devices.
In general, I think you'll find much better options than either. First of all, though, you should think about what you want in your headphones and how much you're willing to spend. And then seek out a forum with lots of people who care about audio quality etc.
I personally am using the Superlux HD 381F. Build quality is not spectacular, but the sound is amazing considering they only cost 20€, so it's not that much of a loss if you break or lose them. Which I do way too often to actually buy more expensive ones.
I would go with neither.
Go with Senheiser or another know 'headphone' brand.
I myself use the Marley earbuds, they fit perfectly, the cord is not from plastic but from fabric, earbuds are from wood, and most of all have amazing sound.

Do a little search and you can come up with a few threads on various headphones. From cheapest, to what you have/recommend, in ear or over the ear, etc. It's here. I know because I commented on most of them lol.
My opinion of the Google headphones. They are good for just the casual listener. Dr. Dre are a bit overpriced for what they are, but I don't deny the popularity of them due to "style" and whatnot. What is your budget? What type of headphones are you looking into? These are some of the things to think of and do a little research on to come to your conclusion.
I just bought some Munitio NINES 9mm earbuds, because they looked interesting because they look like bullet casings lol. Well I read in some reviews that they sound great for the price. So I am testing them out.
So basically, if you want good in ears, go for the brands like Sennheiser or Shure products. Also Jays headphones are decent as well. I personally use the Sol Republic AMPS HD for my yardwork. They are light and tangle free. Over the ears are based on mostly on personal preference due to the head phone cup size, portability, and so forth.
Additionally, the type of music you listen to plays a factor as well. GL and happy shopping!

I have not tried the google headphones, ( i'm sure their average to decent like standard earphones) but I do own the ibeats by Dr.dre. I would not have bought them myself as I agree they are overpriced, but I received them as a birthday gift. The quality is very good, better than any other earphones I tried or had ( all <$20) and they have a lot of bass, which I really like. The build quality is really good too, better than all my usual cheap earphones ( but thats what you would expect at that price range) - the rubber for the wires and the metal earbuds are both good. I was happy with the sound but honestly I'm sure you could get just as good a pair in terms of sound quality for $50, like the name brands mentioned above. These are just priced for the branding and popularity and style points. I did get a lot of compliments for them since they are recognizable.
For the controls, only the center button worked for me. It does pause/play, or pick up/hang up a call. You can get apps to set the one button to do other things based on how many times you press it. The volume/track + - buttons did not work for me, I don't think android supports them yet.
So your choice, depends on your budget and what you want. They're good but expensive.. you might be better off with one of the well known audio company brands.
http://www.amazon.com/Hands-Free-Stereo-Headset-iPhones-Models/dp/B005QAV6FC
I use them with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton
They're excellent for the money, and the plug is actually a 90 degree, though the pictures don't show it. They've got great bass, and you won't believe the quality for the price.
I recommend the Klipsch IMAGE S4 II's. Love the sound from them and they're not too expensive. If you're looking for cheap, the IMAGE S3 or original IMAGE S4's also do an excellent job. The versions that have an A at the end of them have a customizable button via an Android app made by Klipsch themselves.

I personally am using the Superlux HD 381F. Build quality is not spectacular, but the sound is amazing considering they only cost 20€, so it's not that much of a loss if you break or lose them. Which I do way too often to actually buy more expensive ones.

I love bass and high music , just love it !
I'm enjoy from every moment when I'm listening to music.. and that the reason I ask you and anyone
Now when every one say that Dr.Dre is only name and it too much bass and expensive i don't think I will buy his product

I saw the thread about the headphones, and i don't want to pay too much, my range price is 10-30$ not more
now when everyone say that Dr.Dre it's only name I will not buy his headphones
Are you happy with your headphones? they look good , but I can't test them .. only from you opinion and more subjects on them .
I saw this headphones: Sennheiser CX300II, but I do not like the cable length is not the same
All I want is headphones in-ear , with high loud, high bass and quality

I use them with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton
They're excellent for the money, and the plug is actually a 90 degree, though the pictures don't show it. They've got great bass, and you won't believe the quality for the price.

OP- Since you said you like bass, I strongly suggest you try JVC HAFX101 or JVC HAFX1X. I own both and they produce mind blowing bass. No kidding! They cost $14-15. You can get them both and still stay under budget

You can get them on Amazon.
Yep, I'm happy with them. They sound really good. I also recommend getting comply foam tips to go with these (you can get those on amazon too) :good:
What is your budget? I can help suggest something or you could post in the "portable" "What Headphone Should I Buy" thread at Head-Fi.org and someone will reply with your best options.
10-30$

Seconding this. I have the HAFX1X and it really pumps the bass. Looks pretty good too! Now if I can find the bud thing that fits in my ears instead of it falling out, it'll be golden.

Which headphones are using with your 6P? How much did you pay for them?

Since the Nexus 6P comes without headphones, I was wondering which headphones everyone is using, and how much did it cost them? Would you recommend them to others? If you have tried more than once pair of headphones (wired or wireless) which one would you recommend?
I'm using the XBA-A3's at work and on the go: http://amzn.com/B00FJISZ28 They use a hybrid driver - pairing both a dynamic driver with two balanced armature drivers to create a fantastic sound.
I wear them about 6 hours per work day. They are by far the best sounding headphones I own. That's saying something, as I also own Sennheiser HD 650's, AudioTechnica ath-m50x, Shure SRH-840, Blue MoFi's, and Vmoda Crossfades which I use with my laptop and various portable/desktop headphone amps/dacs.
In searching for the best earbuds, I purchased and returned the RHA t20i, Shure 425s, Sennheiser Momentums, B&W C5s, and Audio-Technica ATH-CKR10... none of which were bad by any stretch of the imagination. The Audio Technica CKR10s are the closest to the XBA-A3, in my opinion. The XBA-A3's have an edge in mid and high end clarity in my comparisons. Balanced armatures for the win. I also prefer the over-ear wire guide and detachable cables. Also, most of those listed above don't have an in-line mic, which the Sony's do have. So, the A3's won, and I'm loving them daily.

Sennheiser HD800's with a chord Hugo amplifier.
~$2200 and sounds wonderful. Would recommend it any day.
I've always used my Audio Technica ATH-ESW9 for whenever I'm away from my T1 at home. They're around $200 new and I got mine for $120 like new off of Amazon a couple years ago. One thing I've always like is the sound signature of the ESW9 deviates from the rest of the Audio Technica offerings, and it's an absolute joy for listening to acoustic instruments. Brownie points for using real wood too. Along with the durable lambskin leather, part of the reason why I prefer them for portable use, the ESW9 provide decent isolation without muting your surroundings when they're properly seated on your ears. Call me paranoid, but too much isolation is why I don't use earbuds; I see it as a hazard.
LG HBS-810, paid about $85, plus $15 for some comply foam tips. Can't complain.
Sony XB-90EX (About 120$ import) with Gain ramped to 5 and the new powerAMP, I think I'm sold until the hybrid tips wear off.

I'm a basshead and this is my first "In-ear" monitors. I've also been and will be sony's XB fanboy and these pair just blew my mind.
JVC FX850s, though the phone's output & internal DAC makes them sound like crap (coming from Note 4). V4A doesn't make it much better. Placed an order for a cheap portable DAC, FiiO K1.

Great to hear, fan of the bass myself... thanks for the post..
They're currently somewhere between Japan and Manchester
I'm using Sony MDR-EX650 Earphones with Brass Housing, Smartphone Mic and Control. By far the best in ear headphones I've ever bought, and I'm really hard to please when it comes to sound quality. The sounds take is incredibly open for in ear headphones. I can hardly feel them in my ears, the bass Is punchy without making the sound muddy. Fantastic, really glad I bought the 6p, and these headphones. Got them for £60 but can get them for around £40 online
Bose QC 20's ("Samsung Model" which is their Android version) All of the buttons work (vol+,-, play/pause) and it has ANC with an 'active button'. The active mode gives you mild noise canceling with enhanced speaking level tones for running/working out. I paid $300 for them this past summer and I don't regret it at all. I own 5 pairs of Bose headphones total (QC 20's, Freestyle, SiE 2's, OE 2's and the True Sound over ear ones)
Been using the latest xiaomi in ear pro these past two weeks, it is a hybrid : 1ba and 1 dynamic. Bass seem overpowered (i'm not a basshead), mid a bit high and buttons (mic n vol) works with my music player (black player ex), build quality is great for the price. I would recommend this Xiaomi (i got it for around $28 ) for 'on the go' earphones. For 'serious listening' i use my red Shure 535LE with black oyaide cable.
I'm rocking a V-Moda Crossfade LP2 - picked them up as open box off eBay for $99 and added the XL foam ear pads from V-Moda, also an eBay purchase. They sound ridiculously good, and the ear pads make these comfy af. The inline remote does NOT work though, but it worked on a Lumia - go figure, as Apple and MS have a patent deal. >.> Get with it Google! I miss pausing my music or summoning Cortana with the Play/Pause button on the cable.

I've got a few hooked up for different purposes, Grado SR325i are my hands down favorite for sound but unless I'm sitting still in a quiet room they're not so wonderful.
Realistically though, my MPOW Cheetah Blueetooth get the most play time. $16 on sale. They don't sound anywhere as nice as my RE0's (which I bought so long ago I don't remember the price, definitely more than $16 though), but the whole wireless headphone thing is just so darn practical and the battery life is good enough that I would definitely recommend them.
I've been using Audio-Technica M50x's ($133) around the house and Klipsch S4's ($99) or Jbuds ($35) while out and about. Very happy with all of them.
I use some jbl wireless in ears, bose qc 20s, and sennheiser momentum in ears.
Beats PowerBeats2 Bluetooth for cardio. Paid $100 on Black Friday. I think at $100, its pretty good. Battery life is amazing. Sound is decent. But I wouldn't pay full price for them.
Shure SE215 for everything else. Paid $100 for them.
Bose QC15 for flights which I haven't traveled much lately so its not used ah much. Forgot how much I paid. Maybe $300ish.
I also have Bose IE2, Audio Technician M50 but those are rarely used.

For wireless listening, I use a pair of Jaybird Bluebuds X. They work ver well and sound pretty good.
For wired listening, I have a pair of Klipsch S4is that I use when the BlueBuds are out of battery, and mostly for calls. My favorite pair are the Vmoda Crossfade LP2. The Vmoda give me the best sound out of all my headphones, but I don't like wearing them for extended periods of time. The Vmoda inline controller button does not work on the 6P by the way, and the same applies to many stock headphones for some reason.
I backed The Dash on Kickstarter two years ago and it looks like I should finally be getting mine in the next month or two. I'm very excited to get them to replace the BlueBuds, but Bluetooth sound quality will never match wired units.

Unless you are an audiophile, I will recommend the Mpow Wolverine: http://amzn.com/B017I50T0K. They are cheap and the sound is excellent in my opinion. Additionally, they work perfectly with "Ok Google" commands, I mean detecting the "OK Google", which I have found to be inconsistent with other wireless or wired headphones. The microphone is on the volume control bar, so it is closer to your face and phone calls are really clear.
I also own the Mpow Swift: http://amzn.com/B00PW3B194, which I bought first. These are not as good, the sound is not the best in my opinion. I use them at work to listen to music and news podcast, so I don't need real good sound, as I keep the volume very low. The microphone in this one is on the right-ear headphone, so people have trouble hearing me if it is windy.
PS: No, I don't work for Mpow, I bought them because I found them on sale, so I paid $9.99 for each one.
