Help geting into download mode - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been trying to follow a root method that requires using odin an stuff. It tells me to go into download mode by holding vol down and power, but that just sends me into the stock recovery. Help?

you were able to reboot into recovery? if so how because im using a rooted rom altered beast and i can go into recovery only the first time after i ran it through ODIN
Download quick boot from market. Or turn off phone. Hold volume up and home key in then while holding those in hold the power button in. When you see sanding screen let go of power button but not the volume up or home key.

If you want a multi-functional widget similar to the power control widget but more with an option for reboot (rooted including recovery, bootloader, etc you can also try

Widgetsoid. It's a free app, and the developer is pretty good with it.
I havent tried myself, as I just got my charge about an hour ago, and am familiarizing myself with all the development threads...

Resistor cable? What's this for?

Does anyone have one of these or know if this will help us with bricked phones, installing updates, flashing firmware etc?

From what I understand its there so you don't have to hold the vol up button when you plug in your phone to flash the baseband, but I did it with the normal cable so its not required

So what's the LG service mode?

it is for lazy people who want to enter service mode without pressing vol up button...

[Q] Xoom 2 p/w locked.... Tear down?

Ok my xoom 2 has been password locked thanks to my 10 year old brother who doesn't know what the password is.... (oh yay) unfortunately usb debugging wasn't enabled so running any commands to hard reset my xoom is a no go.
I have searched and searched for the last few days with no success in finding a solution so i'm going to have to go beneath the hood and have a play around.
I already know how to tear down the xoom as I've already tried doing a battery pull.
Does anyone at all know anything about the internals that I could pull to wipe the device or return it to stock?
I really don't like the idea that I have spent a few hundred dollars on a pretty looking frisbee.... :-/

Alright I'll give it a few more goes I have heard it can be a bit tedious to get into by making the right timing to press the buttons.

Does it turn on automatically when you insert the battery?
If it does, your power button is stuck.

There's a tool that you must run on windows while plug the phone on USB (without battery) and pushing vol +.
There will be a 5 sec count to put battery on.
The tool is omap download or something like this.
You can found this here on xda.

Look in this thred.
If you want to go in downloadmode you have to install the drivers dont forhot this.
First pull out your battery, then press the vol up button, plig in usb cable WITHOUT RELEASING THE VOLUP BUTTON, you hear that you plug on an usb wait until you hear the sound that you remove a usb device, then wait again until the sound appears again when you plug in a usb device then push the battery in WITHOUT RELEASING THE VOL UP BUTTON then you will see a chinese font.
