My Micromax Funbook Infinity P275 tablet that runs ICS was delivered today. The reviews say that it supports dongles. I connected my Reliance Broadband/2G dongle and the tablet did not connect to internet through it. Then I tried to go to 'Mobile Network' under 'Settings' and tried to add an acess point but I could not find all the information that was required to set up the point.
Its stated that the tablet supports 3G dongles. I tried to connect using a 2G dongle. Could that be the reason for the connection not being established?
I would really appriciate some helpful feedback. I hope that you awesome XDA users help me solve this issue! Thanks in advance!

Hello there,
I was wondering if there is a way to use a 3G dongle with my Asus in order to have internet access when i don't have a wifi connection.
If i can't use a dongle could you please offer me a solution to a matter extremely important to me and many others as internet on the go.
Thank you in advance,
Perhaps you should consider tethering to a phone via WiFi or Bluetooth for internet access.
I use a G1 Dream for tethering via Bluetooth. Bluetooth uses less power than WiFi.
Assuming you have a smartphone, tethering is the way to go. You could mcguiver up something with the sub dongle a rocket stick (sub cell modem) but tethering is way easier and you are already paying for that data plan. Did exactly that tonight and was getting over 18 Mbps down.

Dude,
1- root your tab
2- install UMTS manager from the market
Enjoy.
It works great here. But i think you have to use a Huwei 3g stick. Mine is E173
Let me know if it works for you.

I use a 3G Huawei E586 mifi device which works perfectly.
Thank you all for your kind replies, the easiest method of them all seems to be the tethering.
I have a smart phone, and i will try tonight the aforementioned method to see if it is working.
Do i have to enable something else besides bluetooth on my phone before i make a connection with my tablet?
Something that i didn't understand is the way that you proposed me with the 3G dongle.
Do i have to buy my own 3G dongle of this particular brand ( Huwei ) in order to make it work
with the usb slot on my keyboard?
Again thank you all, you have been very helpful and you saved me from a lot of trouble,
thumbs up for your help to this thread:good:
My kindest regards,
Hi
I'm not sure about the other brands. But Huwei works fine. If you want to tether from your smart phone better use the wifi tethering in stead of bluetooth.
Good luck

If your smart phone will not "tether" easily, you can try the Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R205. It will provide Wifi access to the internet to any device you might have.
I'm too new to the game to be allowed to post a link. Got to vodaphone DOT gr. Click eshop, then usb sticks.
Other mobile services here in Greece may have something similar.
It's simple as can be.

Thank you all again for your replies,
I have just tested and it works like a charm the tethering method through my mobile, but as i have read in a couple of posts up
i was suggested to use wifi tethering in stead of bluetooth. Why is that? What are the pros and cons of one method over the other?
My kind regards,
Using WiFi or Bluetooth each have their pros and cons.
Security - Bluetooth has encryption built in. Vulnerabilities have been identified in Bluetooth's encryption, but even with today's hardware it would take a few hours for a machine to crunch the numbers required to crack a Bluetooth session. With WiFi tethering, assuming you are using WPA or WPA2 on the connection, the encryption would be stronger and thus more secure. WEP encryption would not be any more secure than Bluetooth but would still discourage casual snooping. I'm not sure if something like Cyanogenmod's built-in tethering offers WPA, but I know applications like FoxFi do. Advantage on security - WiFi
Speed - If you've got a 3.5g or 4g connection, your tethering connection could be a speed bottleneck. Bluetooth is really only capable of around 2 Mbps (that's megaBITs per second, not bytes). That's still faster than a T1 wired connection or the same speed as a euro E1. I'd consider that plenty fast for one machine browsing but if you want to support a number of machines through tethering you might notice a slowdown. WiFi gives you 11Mbps and maybe up to 54Mbps. Advantage on speed - WiFi
Distance - Bluetooth is only useful to a maximum of around 10 meters. WiFi could go as far as 100 meters. Both protocols are susceptible to interference from just about any nearby electronic device and neither does a good job of going through walls or other obstructions. Advantage on distance - WiFi
Power Consumption - In some use cases, Bluetooth's speed and distance limitations are drawbacks. But those two things combined add up to Bluetooth using much less energy to operate than WiFi. On two mobile devices, longer battery life could be important. During WiFi tethering, batteries tend to discharge so quickly that they release more heat than normal and many tethering apps monitor the battery's temperature so it doesn't cook. Repeated overheating can shorten battery life. Advantage on battery life - Bluetooth
Bluetooth tethering is of course useless for devices that don't have Bluetooth. I'd love to be able to tether my Nook Touch, but my battered old G1 has a broken WiFi board and the Nook only uses WiFi. Other than that, I haven't found any disadvantages to using Bluetooth for tethering.
Hope this clears things up some.
Bt: saves battery, slower speed and can connect only one device.
Wifi: battery consumption, higher speed and can connect up to 5 devices.
I hope that helps

Thank you guys, finally after all of your useful advice and suggestions i have got it all clear in my head.
My warmest regards,:good:
Wow, that is mighty good info! Somehow I always assumed Bluetooth would use more battery than wifi hotspot!

Thank you very much, works perfect for me on a TF700T with a E176 huawei dongle. Very useful in some countries where it's easier to find a 3G connection with a temporary SIM than wifi spots.

Hi, I have just bought the Measy U2A thinking that it was one of the best googletv, when i read the specifications. But the connection throw wifi is realy slow, even it sends me "time out" message when i try to connect to google play (Market).
I have a Wifi N Router up to 300Mb/sec and the wifi signal is really good. In fact, the Measy connects to my router up to 54Mb/s (Wireless G).
I dont know what to do and I don't know if exist any type of firmware for this Measy.
Sorry for my english
Thank's in advance.
Regards!
My Kimdecent b12 stick suffers from same issues.
Finding optimal wi-fi channel, putting remote 2.4G dongle away from the device usb cable extender, and providing direct router visibility (consider utilize wi-fi repeater) might help to you.

Hi again.
It finally works! I puted remote 2.4G away and changed wifi channel to 5, with optimal results.
Now i have another question, that i am trying to solve with the seller. Is that the device have only 1Gb Flash and the measy specifications are 4Gb Flash Memory.
Thanks a lot!!!!

Hi everyone.i am on the verge of buying the note 8 Model: GT-N5110ZWYXAR the version without the sim support cause i couldnt find it in any us store i searched , and because my cousin is bringing it to me, i settled for the wifi only version found at about 285euros at bestbuy.
i am wondering if a usb 3g dongle might work when plugged via OTG cable, something like Huawei E1750 3G USB Modem.
i want an 8 inch tablet with 3g support and this is the best solution i could come up.will it work?i really dont want to go to the other option of a wifi dongle cause they are pretty expensive.
any help would be much appreciated.
ps:if anyone knows where i can purchase the cellural version of note 8 (just the device not with us data plans cause i live in Greece) plz let me know.

Hey guys. Can some one please tell me what i should do on my Nexus to get it to connect to the PS3?
So I've scoured the forums looking for my exact problem but to no avail. I am trying to connect my wifi hotspot to my ps3 to watch netflix basically. I can get the wifi connected from phone to computer with no problem (thats what im using now). However, when i scan my PS3 for wifi signals, the only thing thats comes up are the usual wifi signals from the neioghbors. I've tried all the settings i can find on the web but nothing works, like changing device info to Optimus 2 and softap. I'm using a rooted Nexus with the Wifi tether app. under Settings, Change device, i dont see my phone make or madel. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have no idea... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
A guy who just wants to watch netflix on his stupid ps3

Your post is a little jumbled, but it seems like you're asking if your PC can receive a wifi signal even if it doesn't have built-in wifi. The answer is simply no. You can go to the store and snag a little wifi dongle or something like that and install the software to make it pick up a signal, but as is... it's not gonna pick up anything. Hope that helps.
