Heard nothing but positive things about the HD and MAXX HD battery.
As a former galaxy nexus crack flasher... Don't even worry about flashing roms. The phone works great out of the box.
Unless you need ad blocking and tethering, just freeze some apps and enjoy.
Stick with the stock charger if possible.

thank you, i was unsure about razr hd / razr maxx / razr maxx hd, because is motorola who will send me the phone, and they said the one that they will send it's the droid razr hd. and i was like "aw, i wanna razr maxx hd!" ): and they said: "sorry sir, but you are just ****. so just shut up, and we will not send you a different cellphone just because we've been coiling you since 13/05 and it's about to make 2 months that you are without a cellphone. it's because we suck"
sorry about that, i'm really angry.
again, thank you.

Haha understood frustrations. I've had the Razr HD since February and I do have unlocked bootloader and root but that's simply cause I'm familiar with the process and am not afraid of broken warranty. However the HD and MAXX are both really great phones in many aspects, including battery life. Just take a peek at the battery life screen shots of users under the general thread I do believe and trust me, the screens are no lie lol. My personal experience is usually a charges lasts me from 8am-12am with light use in morning and heavy use at night. Hope this helps!!

i would like to know if there is anyway of emulate the menu button, 'cause i hate the new cellphones with 3 buttons (back, home, recent apps), instead of 4 (menu, home, back, search). there is any solution? or i'll need to deal with it?

a question for you: eclipse have long press volume to next/prev music function? can i set the screen brightness at the notification bar? (i mean, just like CM)

Honestly I don't know cause I don't use those functions, as I use pie and have no nav or status bar.

As far as your other questions of adding a menu button and changing songs holding down the volume buttons and changing the brightness via the notification bar you can do all those things with aokp cyanogenmod or Pacman.

That's not an option on the phone stock. You'll have to run a custom rom. Or delete the nav bar and use pie.

so, hi again! and GOD! motorola did not sent me the razr hd! can you believe this? anyway, you've touched at a point of interest, for me. can i root without unlocking bootloader? and if i unroot, motorola will never know it was once rooted, right? and then, i'll not "lose my warranty", technically ('cause they will not know, so ...)
thanks!

Yea you can root with your bootloader locked. You have to have your phone rooted before you can unlock it to begin with.

what ROM are you running on your D2G?

Hello,
I'm just curious what people are running because I'm currently using fission 2.4.3 and I'm looking for something else. So what are you running on your D2G?
That's all there is on the d2g right now, that and stock. I personally wouldn't go back to stock even if they paid me.

Not a lot of options for us yet, so Fission here as well.
Fortunately Fission is not only far better than stock it also seems pretty good, period.
Before I put Fission on mine I was slightly regretting getting the new one: my Droid is better than the stock D2G- and 50Mhz faster too.
With Fission- yeah, the hardware junkie part of me may not be able to do too much yet, but the phone IS smoother and faster than the heavily modified Droid- and has global capability.
We will get more roms to choose from before long, I'm sure.

Its not that its really missing anything. I used the blackout theme and really enjoyed the rom. But I was having battery /heat issues I'm not really sure why but it seems like it is not a common problem.
Last night I went back to the stock rom because of it.

Before my D2G I had (still have) my Droid 1. It was running Chevy01 Simply Stunning ROM. One cool feature of his rom was music controls with the screen off.
With screen off
Camera Button was Pause/Play
Volume up and down is stock but long press of volume up is next track and long press of volume down is previous track

Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, how do I get past "Junior Member"? Some number of posts I'm assuming? Makes me feel like a n00b to see Junior whenever I post
I'm using fission w/ the third eye theme and loving it. Was able to get things pretty much how and where I want them with just the theme and launcher pro.

I am running stock, yes I know - boring.
But I love that dialer which has both portrait and landscape modes and lookup mode, damn it is good (one thing well done Motorola!) I wish we could port it out as independent app. Another thing I like in stock rom is the car doc/desk dock apps. Launcher isn't that bad either.
Help! I tried Liberty and it got stuck in airplane mode.
I reinstalled the original ROM but parts of Liberty still seem to be in the system as when I boot I get the Liberty logo before it moves on to the stock ROM logo.
Someone please tell me where I can get a good stock ROM and how to USB push it to my phone. Liberty must be mucking up my phone as dialer won't stay open.
Anyone... Please...

I'm running Stock Rom, with Modifications that took a lot of searching. I Manually Deodex, and now I'm looking into theming. I like Moto Blur, It has a lot of benefits. So I'm in the Learning stages, and hopefully I can acquire the skills to accomplish Development in the near future.

Becoming a One X girl soon!

Hello fellow phone nerds!
I am transitioning from Samsung to HTC on Friday! I am so excited to get my One X and tweak it out!! I got a killer deal on it and am so excited! How does everyone like there's? Is there anything I should know about it? What battery life kernel works best for it?
Thanks!
-Jess
A couple things.
Hopefully your new phone hasn't been upgraded already. We can't currently root phones that ship with the latest update or have been updated OTA. Having said that... When you first get your phone on Friday, do NOT update it... dismiss it, cancel the download, postpone it, do whatever you have to until you are comfortable with the procedure on how to root it. That would be extremely unfortunate.
Aside from that, it will take some work on your part but the process of rooting/unlocking is kinda fun for this phone. There is no "all in one toolkit" for this phone. There are various tools you must run, to do various things, to get your phone all setup as the ROM flashing beast you want it to be (granted, its only once, but still). What else.. what else...
P.S. Congrats on the new phone! The community here is much closer nit and nicer (IMHO) than most on XDA..

I have to admit after 2 years of TouchWiz, sense isn't as bad as I remember ... on a tweaked basis. I prefer a fully functional sense based ROM (Venom because its the only one I saw with notification toggles the way AOKP or TouchWiz does it) vs AOKP with issues. I still use Nova because the Sense Widgets aren't worth being stuck on a 4*4 layout, to me.
Just my $0.02

coming from Motoblur on the original Atrix on AT&T.. Sense is pretty awesome. Motorola really screwed up with the way the made Motoblur in my opinion, i hated it.
As far as battery life, on the Nocturnal Special Edition ROM and ViperXL, I usually get awesome battery life, no custom kernels or anything. I do however, use Root Explorer or TitaniumBackup and remove EVERYTHING that I don't use, like, completely uninstall. i mean, EVERYTHING, like 80% of the sense stuff i remove, widgets, social networking plugins, GOOGLE MAPS i only install when i need it, FACEBOOK, i just use the browser, i like to think of it as flashing my "naked version" of these guys' awesome ROMs
On AOSP ROMs, like AOKP and CM10, I get pretty decent battery as well, but as always, it generally depends on your setup.
The Sense camera is AWESOME. the AOSP camera still needs a bit of tweaking, but has most definitely come a LONG way. i'd say that AOKP 2 that rohan is porting for us is the most solid AOSP we've got going on. I tried the latest MIUI (2.9.14) today, and it still seems very buggy (LOTs of FC's, very, VERY laggy, etc.) but the 4.1.1 JB based MIUI is still very very new

Hey congrats and welcome to the crazy One X/XL community.
Hey guys, since I am in the same situation I'll hijack this thread a bit and ask my questions, too.
I am moving from VZW Rezound to the white AT&T Evita (can't bring myself to call it a "HOX") and am hoping I'll get a 1.85 version.
After having lurked here for about a week, my question is whether or not Google Wireless Tether app will work properly on this phone, after/if I root it. The threads weren't clear on this, and I know that the dev ROMs use it, apparently without issue.
I will also attempt to create a janky USB host solution to carrying my most needed music - I commute and I love Google Music, but it doesn't work well in the subway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Can't wait to get this phone and looking forward to seeing how s-off plays out.

I'll give you a quick answer. Foxfi works much better. I've unlocked the full tether options in my roms and I'm sure other developers have done the same. If you want a good Rom, stay away from the att based ones. Pure junk and full of hidden.bloat. and I'm not talking about apps. And I call the phone a One X too, not a fan of the hox name lol. As already pointed out, there is no "toolkit" for the One X.
But everything you need can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Is the phone the AT&T branded version? If you receive the phone with AT&T's 2.20 firmware, you're stuck without root (at least for now).
Otherwise, root tools can be found in the index. Then for installing custom ROMs, kernels, radios, etc. the process is to get SuperCID, unlock bootloader and install TWRP recovery.

[REQUEST] Ubuntu for Tablets, port it to Nook HD/HD+

Hi,
Sorry if this wasn't posted in the correct location but I was hoping someone here could port "Ubuntu Touch" to Nook HD and HD +. According to their official porting page, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting, Ubuntu Touch is a heavy modded fork of CM10.1, should be easier to get the kernel working in this case. Would be fantasic to see a more familar looking OS on my tablet.
Thank you in advance
I would be curious to see this as well. I've heard good things about it and would enjoy taking it for a spin.
Not sure if there's any interest in it by dev's though.

It might be possible to even dual-boot it off an sd card but at this time I am not sure. My best guess is there is a waiting period to see if the internals of the nook can be unlocked first, then you may see a surge in activity for these very types of requests.

The above is from his thread, a quick reply to my message, seems he is still around.

[Q] AOSP Messaging

When I was playing around with the Maxx in store the other day, I wasn't sure how I felt about the size and the capacitive buttons, but everything else was real nice. Where I got held up on the software front was the messaging app. The send button instead of the paper airplane was ugly in my opinion but more importantly it doesn't seem to support extended notification (i.e. quick reply) which seems like an odd exclusion. (There's not a way to enable that is there? If so I'd live with the ugly send button lol.)
I have an mms apk from AOSP 4.2 but you obviously need root to install that in system\app. I feel like I installed a 4.1 mms onto my Razr HD even without root last year but I don't for the life of me remember how I accomplished that. I just know that I disliked Moto's heavily skinned messaging app.
Any idea on how I might install a stock AOSP mms.apk app right now given that we don't have root yet?
Thanks!
I went back to my stock Razr HD tonight. No root, stock Android 4.1. Installed the 4.2 mms.apk I have with no issue. Just installed it like any other app and everything worked swimmingly. Why does that same apk not work on a Droid Ultra? Apparently root isn't necessary after all. Do I need a 4.3 version of the apk or what?
Sounds silly, but I don't want to upgrade to a Maxx formally if I can't figure this out. I text all the time and the 3 missing features--no emoji support, no quick reply/extended notification, and no stock icons--will drive me way too crazy.
Thanks
Could this perhaps have something to do with odex vs. deodexed? I don't really understand what deodexing does and I think this stock Razr HD should be odexed since that's default but I'm not sure how one deodexes it or what happens when one does. Just one possible explanation I found while searching I thought someone might have more ideas on.
Thanks!

Its funny because every android phone I've ever gotten I rooted it immediately and never dealt with stock. I just got the RAZR maxx and your right I can't quick reply in the notification bar but I'm also not sure if that's part of stock since I always root. Does anybody know if it is and if so can we install the updated app without root?

Yeah based on playing with the Moto X today (which I think is completely root) the quick reply functionality is apparently a Cyanogen-added thing. Who knew lol. I'll take a look at Sliding Messenger.

Generally you just run into issues with having on screen keys instead of the physical ones.
I agree, the buttons took a little getting used to but there have been no "issues" enough to not use as a DD. The only thing I noticed was the speaker toggle issue. The apk that was written to take care of it, does so no problems there. I miss xposed and ROMToolbox but everything seems operational. I like the LiquidSmooth ROM for the center colored clock but, all the 5.0 ROMs are pretty much the same other than the clock. LS has not been updated since 11/30 - I'll probably stick with the one that gets the most often updates like Joe-Tech.
I install this zip with any 4.4.4 or 5.0 rom for the moto x i install on my maxx. It removes the nav bar and enables the hardware buttons. The keys are mapped a little different, but its easy to get used to. Just make sure you turn off "merge tabs and apps" in chrome settings to get your page tab back by the address bar.

This zip is not needed for 5.0 ROM's - only 4.4x. But it is nice to have to Maxx hardware keys active and model shows up as xt1080m
Its not needed, but why use the nav bar when we have hardware buttons. Hope we get official lollipop soon.
