Guys so I have a problem, I recently shifted from Desire S back to SL and found that the internal sdcard was showing up as 1.52GB instead of the normal 8 gb that i used to see before, while connecting to PC
So i thought about formatting it, connected the phone to PC and started formatting the internal SDcard from windows (not quick format, the thorough, time consuming format), and the phone randomely restarted during the process. Now I cant access the sdcard from phone, pc or recovery :/ What should I do?

Hey guys,
I need a lil help! Searched all over but couldnt find a solution. So I was trying to go back to stock. I formatted my SDcard via gparted to FAT32 and rebooted my phone into bootloader. Flashed an SBF with sbf_flash. Now when my phone starts up the SD card is stuck at Preparing SD card searching for errors. If I allow my screen to time out, it gets stuck and pressing the unlock button only gives me flashing lights for the buttons below. I remember some other people having this problem but for me I think it has specifically to do with the SD card because when I remove it and boot everything seems to be fine.
So I tried connecting the phone via USB to my computer. I set the screen to never time out to avoid the black screen and flashing lights thingy. Gparted does not recognize the SDcard, when I select mass storage. Strangely the disk utility in ubuntu recognizes that something is mounted /dev/sdb/ but cannot format or anything and it doesnt show the size of the directory.
In the phone options the card is not mounted so I cannot format via the phone. I dont own a carder reader and where I live itll be really hard to find one. I tried on a windows computer but that didnt recognize the phone at all.
One thing though, I rooted the phone and I can get into adb shell. In adb it shows me an /sdcard/ directory. I was wondering is there any way I can format my SD card using adb?
Thanks for all the help! Cheers!
Never mind, I fixed it. Seems like rooting and logging into adb shell did something to mount it in the phone. Thanks!

Hello guys. I am a first time rooter. I followed this root guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084 all worked and I have tried 3 different roms. The only thing that faile dto work was Gparted, it does not recognise my SD card. I only see my PC HD.
I have tried restarting it, using a different SD card but still the same issue. The whole point of me rooting my desire was so that I could free up space. Is there another simple program I can use to partition my SD?
Thanks
Ryan
I use MiniTool Partition Wizard to partition my SD cards. I like it better than GParted b/c you can format an EXT partition without any data loss on the FAT partition.
I'm having a problem connecting my device to a computer as Mass Storage. It was working fine for a while until it got unintentionally unplugged while I was connected via ADB as root. The device will connect fine as a Media Device (MTP), but when Mass Storage is selected the drive letter comes up but is greyed out (how it looks when you have a corrupted usb drive). Prior to the problem you would get the internal sdcard partition. I'm also having a problem with Samba Fileshareing bombing out temporarily before enabling wifi sharing, but if I click "wait" on error screen Samba finally starts sharing. None of this behavior was present while the mass storage was connecting properly.
I have no external SD Card installed, I'm rooted, I've applied the 6MB OTA update and have all the latest moto drivers on my computer.
I tried fixing this problem by first doing a factory reset (no luck) then I fastbooted back to the stock image and reapplied everything. None of that fixed the issue.
I think the device is having a hard time unmounting the internal sd card partition? I'm not sure what's going on and I've searched to the end of Google. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Yesterday I tried to partition my internal storage using minitool because I was getting a insufficient memory message from the google app store. Everything worked out fine and the partition had been created, I turned usb storage off and when I went to pull the usb cord from my nexus s I got a message saying that my internal sd card had been damaged and asked me to reformat. I dismissed the error message because I did not want to format right there but after that my phone can't detect my usb storage (16gb internal) and neither can I connect to my computer and access the files on my phone. I'm using paranoidandroid 3.00. Even when my Android debugging is on the phone still can't connect to my computer. And I've tried to unmount and mount using cwm a number of times but that isn't working either. I also tried to factory reset the phone but I still can't detect my usb storage. My phone basically says I have 0.98gb total space. I have no access to my internal storage at all. I can't flash any different roms or flash anything for that matter. My photo gallery is also saying that I have no external storage available. I need to fix this ASAP. What can I do to fix this problem?
Similar problem
I'm having a similar problem. Switched to a different phone and gave my wife NS4G, so I wiped everything, including the external storage via TWRP v2.4. No problem connecting to my PC, but on the phone in settings>storage, there was only 0.98 in Internal Storage and 2GB in USB Storage. No clue what could've caused that. Currently searching the web for answers, and will report back if I come across anything

I fixed the problem using Wugs Root Toolkit. I didn't want to just sit around and wait till a different fix just magically appeared. Basically just had to flash back to stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 using the toolkit and unroot the device and then do a factory reset. The SD card got formatted after doing all that. You should try it out. :good:
The update process hung for ages, so I restarted the device. This seems to have resulted in a corrupted sd card - which was being used as adoptable storage.
The tablet now no longer recognises that there's even an sd plugged in. If I connect it to my computer it seems like the partition table is still all there, but something fundamental has broken making it impossible to use the sd.
A brief Google seemed to suggest that, if it was even possible to recover the card, it would require reformatting. I'll do that if I have to, but I was hoping there was another option...

Most probably the update was taking long because ur sdcard isnt fast. I own a shield k1 with a 32gb extreme pro sandisk sdcard as adoptable storage full of games, the whole update took like 10min including the optimising apps part. And rebooting it midway of course corrupted its data that is encrypted specifically to your device, that's why it PC cant view its data (even the parts not corrupted). So ur best choice would be to format it.
Unfortunately, I think it must be properly dead. I tried to format it - in fact I didn't even get that far. When I went to delete the partitions in order to create and format a new one, cfdisk said the write had all worked, but, in fact, the old partitions remained intact. I tried some other software to re-partition it, but the result was the same.
no problem
use this app on windows ¨HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v2.1.8 Español (Portable)¨
sure recover it
open with administrator
ever when i use win32diskimager , i need tu use only this program to recover all gigabites of my sd and usb memorys
sorry for my english im from spain!
good luck!!
Hi,
so I have a really weird issue with my Redmi 6. As you've read from the title my phone's storage is broken and /boot is missing (or maybe unmounted).
Let me explain what happened.
So my bro needed 16 GB SD card for postmarketos (the SD card was in my phone) so I told him that he could have it. He had 4 GB SD card which wasn't enough for the postmarketos so he gave me the SD card. When I inserted it to my phone, MIUI asked me what to do with it. There were 2 options. Use it as external storage or extend internal storage so I selected extend internal storage. When the process was done, internal storage was unmounted... I tried mount /sdcard but it didn't work. Then I came across a video that has sm command in it and it was a partition management command or whatever. So I tried mounting internal storage, and it worked! BUT when I opened file manager it detected internal storage as USB. I literally have NO idea why (MIUI file manager detects it as USB but Google file manager detects it normally). I tried to fix it with the sm command, but I only made it worse... When I tried mixing the partitions I accidentally typed disks instead is disk (sm partition mixed disk"s":128,179 50). Then I think is started formating the partitions. I was lucky enough to cancel it, before it formats the whole /. It formated only the SD card and I think /boot. I don't think I can give any more info about what is did. I hope someone could help me.
Thanks for your time.
Sucharek
PS I don't have my phone rooted or unlocked bootloader or a custom ROM
Note: Everything happened when the phone was on
Please someone tell me a fix
I'm waiting almost a month and so far, no answer
Please, if you can, tell me a fix
Thanks
