Hi pros,
I have an Htc chacha, a rooted one.
my gallery app wasn't showing anything when i open it.
It was working fine after the root and even after flashing a custom rom.
(Screw part starts from here)
I have /system/app changer application and i started fiddle with the music and photo widgets that i don't use.
I converted them to normal app and deleted them. This f*cked up my gallery app; it stopped showing anything.
(here comes the best part)
i changed my default/stock gallery app from "system" app to "normal app" &.... DELETED IT:silly:.
PLEASE HELP ME FIX IT AGAIN

When you want to use an alternate background it doesn't ask you which gallery app you want to use to choose the background. It uses the stock gallery app which sucks ass and causes banding in the wallpapers. When I had my Droid X it would ask me which gallery app I wanted to use. Is there a way to set it up so it defaults to Quickpic?
EDIT: Oops. I meant to post this in the Q&A section. Sorry guys.
not sure if you got this resolved, but i had the same problem and a google search led me to your post (i have an evo and probably wouldn't have stumbled here on my own!). . . and your post pointed out what the actual issue was (the stock gallery app problem), which led me to try the following which was successful: if you're rooted, use titanium backup to uninstall the stock gallery app, then set your wallpaper with widgetlocker (it will use whichever other gallery app you have) and you will have an unbanded high resolution wallpaper! if you want to, you could restore the stock gallery app with titanium backup after and your widgetlocker wallpaper will be none the wiser! survives a reboot too!
Hi XDA! I am having problems with my Nexus S gallery. I recently downloaded Gallery 3d, and when I checked my applications drawer, I cannot find my gallery! I noticed a new icon, though, named "com.iris.media.gallery". I tried tapping it once but an error prompts: "Application is not installed". I tried tapping it again, and the gallery opened, but, it does not auto-landscape anymore. I checked the application manager but I cannot find any gallery or gallery 3d, as I'm planning to uninstall it. I also checked the market and opened the Gallery 3d page, but when I chose "open", the market just force closes. I am using an i9020T, rooted and running on CyanogenMod 7. And is using GO Launcher EX. Please help me!
hi, wonder if anyone can help, i hope i dont have to wipe and flash again.
I recently flashed Wicked rom v7 on SSGS4 (SGH-M919), and when flashing I chose to include the google camera app.
I am also using the AOSP lock screen so when I swipe left from the lock screen it goes straight to camera. I was trying different camera apps and setting the default camera that launches from the lock screen, and for all the other cameras I was able to go to app manager and clear the defaults. However, the google camera does not show up in my app manager, so after I set it to the default camera I cannot clear that default, now I am stuck with the google camera as my default.
I tried downloading that app "Default app manager" but it also does not see the google camera app. Tried turning off the AOSP lock screen (from the wicked rom manager) and turning back on, and the google camera is still set as default. also tried searching forums and google but cannot seem to find anything.
Any idea where this default setting is actually stored, like is there a file somewhere either in the app folder or a system folder that stores this setting, that I am able to manually clear?
thanks
OK after much messing around I figured it out, the Camera app is called photosphere.apk because they named it after its new feature. can't figure out how to delete this thread so I'll just post the answer.
using Root Browser for android, I had to go into /system/app, and make a backup copy and then delete Photosphere.apk - that is the app that contains the 4.3 Camera and gallery (and its icon is the gallery icon). then restart the phone, set a new default camera app, then copy photosphere.apk back into the /system/app folder and restart.
as the title says gallery won't show all wallpapers on the device, it is supposed to show all folders that contain wallpapers , photos, and videos but the gallery doesnt show all wallpapers except the DCIM folder
i tried to download other gallery apps like QuickPic and worked fine with me and showed all wallpapers on the device then i went to the main gallery it started to show some folders that weren't been showed before but not all the folder also not all the wallpapers inside them i tried to download another gallery apps like Customizable gallery 3D it showed only the folders and wallpapers that the main gallery shows them
so any solution for this problem?

Try clearing data for the Gallery app or reflashing your rom. I prefer using QuickPic and haven't used stock gallery apps since I preordered this phone. QuickPic allows you to set multiple different file paths to include so it picks up just those pics/vids in those directories.
I have cleared the cache and data but still not showing all wallpapers i got, but i noticed that some folders have begun to be showed also not all folders/wallpapers on the phone

You might want to try reflashing your rom then. As I said, I'm rather inexperienced with the stock Gallery app cuz I prefer third party. I never liked the UI of stock gallery apps.
I had trouble too with the stock gallery. I ditched it for Quickpic a long time ago.

So, I've done some research into this and I'm struggling to get any results. I have noticed since installing 5.0 Lollipop, the default 'Gallery' app has disappeared and has instead been replaced with the 'Photos' app which comes built into Google+.
I've personally never found any use or need out of Google+ and always disable the app and the 'Photos' app.
Doing this however, now leaves me without a gallery.
I installed Cyanogen's gallery from the Play Store, but this is not automatically set to a default and so when I'm sharing or sending images, the gallery app to open images does not appear.
When I installed the APK for the KitKat gallery, it embodied itself into the 'Photos' app and when I tried to open it, it crashed because 'Photos' is disabled.
Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat as you. Loved the Gallery app and don't find the Photos app useful at all.
Which Gallery APK did you install? I installed the one from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/app-4-4-apps-hangouts-google-launcher-t2506344
It works, is in the menu prompts (when opening files), etc.
The only thing that doesn't work is the "edit" function since I'm guessing the links the to the built in photo editor are busted with the 5.0 update. So basically if I need to edit a photo I used Photos, but everything else I just use Gallery.

Download default Android 4.4 Gallery from here.
It works just fine in Android 5.0.
