you just responded to it. just kidding. seriously though, i couldn't agree more. give some indication of what your looking for/need help with in your title.
Thread title changed!
(hopefully it's clear enough)
search for softkeyapplet.cpl
read the information on Smartskeys in this thread. some of the custom rom builders have it pre-installed in their roms, since the program definitely helps with one handed use.

Hi all,
I'm not that far to create my own rom at the moment.
But i see some very nice tools to track your mobile when stolen.
If every ROM builder will implement a Tracker like:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/index.html
in his rom as OEM than everyone can protect their phone even when it have been hard reset.
I thnk Remote Tracker is the best, it also support to be cooked in ROMS..
Someone else who share my idea?

First of all after 39 posts, you should be now be aware of the rules against starting redundant posts on redundant subjects. This thread is on this same page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362645
Secondly in this age of the super ram, lite , naked, strip it down ,fad. I doubt that people would want their resources taken up by yet another app that they never use or maybe, possibly, hopefully not, will only use once.
For me, I always have my phone secured in a holster. I only take it out to use, never place it down and never leave it anywhere. I would not want something " cooked " into a rom, that I will never use.
Plus if I can track my " stolen " phone, what keeps people from tracking me ?
A password ? A promise that my information will be kept private at all times,?

If you read some info.. When sim is changed only a txt msg will send to a trusted person you give up in the tool that sim is changed with GPS location.
And you can sent txt msg to the phone to remove contacts etc etc..

Thats not true........... Your device IMEI is part of the protocol the phone service probes and has records of, regardless of the ROM you install. Let us say your phone is stolen, then all you have to do is contact the phone company and request tag location on the IMEI. The phone company then, if you can prove that the phone was yours, will tell you what phone number is now using the device and will assist you locate the phone. The phone companies keep the paired IMEI and the SIM records to prevent theft and to establish warranty start time. Just keep your IMEI number handy if you need it later in case of loss or theft.
So in essence, all those phone locator's' software are nothing but scams.
I think this thread is redundant as Denco has established and needs to be closed.
I agree with the original poster. Every cooked ROM should include this.
And yes, it is password protected so nobody can track you unless you want them to. Not only is it password protected, but you also need the phone number of anyone you want to track. So unless someone has your phone number AND password, you don't need to worry about being tracked.
As far as a phone company helping locate your phone- good luck with that. I can just imagine an AT&T rep responding to that request in a timely fashion, lol.
If my phone ever gets stolen, I will know within 1 minute exactly where it is. And if I was using that app instead of the Sprite Terminator I am currently using, I could FTP all of the contents of my storage card so I don't lose anything, then remotely wipe and lock the device.
That other thread is talking about Sprite Terminator, not the Remote Tracker app this thread is discussing. I will mention Remote Tracker in that other thread and see if anyone bites...

It is not a duplicate. That other thread is discussing Sprite Terminator, not Remote Tracker. That is a totally different app. It's a commercial app that has to be purchased. This Remote Tracker app is a freeware app that even the creator supports and encourages cooking into ROMs.
We don't close IE threads as being duplicates of Opera threads, do we?

If this is a duplicate thread, please post a link where they are discussng cooking this app into every cooked Kaiser ROM. The linked thead is NOT a duplicate. They are discussing a totally different app. And the moda even removed a link because the app they are discussing in that other thread is not freeware. To my knowledge, there is not another thread on the topic of cooking Remote Tracker into all cooked Kaiser ROMs. And if I am mistaken, please post a link.

i never said it was a duplicate but the mentioned thread is about similar software at which point regardless neither that thread or this one should have been posted in this forum, go post in kaiser general, kaiser software or some other forum and keep threads not dealing with rom development out of here. if it's a question about if it can be added as a package, go post question in the thread for the kitchen one is using. way to many people starting non kaiser rom development related threads here in our rom development forum, WAY TO MANY look at all the threads that litter our forum.

The app in that other thread is nothing like this app. It has 1 or 2 of the same features and that's it. This app does a whole lot more than the other app.
Incidentally, I contacted Sprite about possibly turning the Sprite Terminator app into an OEM package for cooked ROMs and the freaked out about how they don't support cooked ROMs, and they're a Microsoft partner, and blah blah blah. This app we're talking about here already has an OEM package created by the app's developer. So it is totally different.
The reason he posted it in this forum is because he is asking that all future cooked ROMs contain this app. That is the whole point of this thread- getting this app cooked into all future cooked ROMs. And in that light, this is the perfect place for this thread.
Rather than looking for threads littering a forum, lets take a look at posts littering a good thread...
Incidentally- that other thread that is about doing this same thing with Sprite Terminator, a few mods even posted in that thread and there was not a peep about it not belonging in this forum. They did, however, say the OEM package had to be taken down for piracy concerns. That is not an issue with Remote tracker because the app developer created an OEM package himself and posted it here on XDA, with a tool to create the registry entries needed, and detailed instructions on how to cook it into a ROM.
Below is a format that should be used as an example of how a rom thread should look. It doesnt have to be exact. I suggest that you stay creative and use all the features in the advanced panel when creating a thread.
1. Name of rom, team, etc
2. Introduction
3. Changelog in code or php tags
4. What's included in the rom in the (apps, tweaks, scripts, addons, mods) in code of php tags
5. What works/what doesn't work in code or php tags
6. Credits (Users name-with link to (profile/github/or thread u got tweak from embedded), and what they did to help you)
7. Screenshots (2-10 different screenshots of different aspects of rom)
8. Kernel with either link to thread you got it from or github (if stock sense or cm please state that and that is enough)
9. Instructions on how to install the rom (also if special instruction for a2sd or beats audio...etc)
10. Do's and Don'ts of the rom
11. Questions & Answers section (I find this helpful to write out asked questions with solutions at the bottom of the op. I find that it cuts down on the question being asked a million times)
12. Finally the dl link
13. Additional add-ons (this can go into first post or reserved posts after)
I find the embedded link looks and feels better throughout the op if possible.
All sections should have a header with enlarged text and spaced out so people can read it easily.
I am hoping that this helps to make this section a little cleaner and easier. enjoy
The way I look at this is that it takes US weeks/days/hours to make these roms....we can take the time out to make sure that the op looks professional and clean
Also Make sure the op is fully ready before posting. I know we all get excited to release a rom but stating that half the stuff will be updated as time permits just shows that you are lazy and in a hurry which doesnt look good cause if thats the case then how does your rom run....
No posting a a rom thread without a DL link either
Thanks Papa Smurf151 i think everyone who is getting ready to post a rom should be redirected here!
sorry if im not allowed to post here, so please delete my comment if needed
i left this open for feedback
How about how stable it is like in the old days?
I remember last year everyone would label them as beta, RC, final etc.

I think what Papa Smurf outlined in the OP is more then enough and it covers the basics while keeping the majority of the threads uniformed or at least try to
I also don't think we should start being over critical here and require individuals that start threads in the development section to add labels like Alpha, Beta, MC, RC or whatever.
I understand that having labels would make things a whole lot easier for the user BUT it also doesn't encourage the user to read about what he or she flashes onto their phone.
I don't know how many times I've seen a user complain and harass developers over something that was clearly their (the user) fault because they didn't read the OP. They saw fancy screenshots and saw the download link and either ended up bricking their phone or causing their phone to turn into a hot pocket...lol
Not trying to tell people how to do their job BUT I think we should encourage users to read/search more not shortcut things for users.

See I assumed this was common sense and ROMs that are missing a lot of these details, I don't give the time of day too so those ROMs don't matter to me. Because in my mind all the good ROM's out there already follow this in some way shape or form.
I appreciate what you did but I don't see why we need it is all.
As long as these are only guidelines and not enforceable rules, I agree with them. But I wouldn't agree with deleting/locking threads that fail to follow these guidelines; that would send the wrong message to developers.

Rom threads will never be locked or deleted for not following these guidelines. I would hope devs would embrace them and if a fellow dev isn't then I would hope someone would point them here and try to help them. Most rom devs want to have a nice looking op. But some of them are new and don't know better or are very young and don't know better. This just helps to give structure that they can refer to and say oh yeah maybe I should have that or this.

What?
So we all know that sometimes the stock standard camera app aren't the best , and that sometimes other stock cameras from other phones are better , or take better photos.
And since we have some very skilled developers on this and other forums, they have been able to port these stock app to work on multiple phones from different brands.
My goal is to have a list of all these apps . This thread will try to keep track of such apps, by being uploaded to a website , or link to the actual forum thread.
But I need the communities help, if you know or would like me link your app, one which works across multiple brands, please pm me or link it in this thread.
so here goes
List : Backup before trying any of these, you have been warned
Razr m camera port Developer: unknown
works on: 4.0
Lg Optimus G ported (may not work, make sure you make backup)
Developers: Defcomg, feav
works: ics & jb different versions
Huawei p1 cam mod
works: ICS, maybe jb?
Developers: defcomg

Ps: If i have linked your port and have not mentioned you as the developer, or I cant find the orignal developer , please let me know ,no insult ever intended
Pps:if I have listed your port and you want the link removed i will be happy to do so, just send me a p.m
Thank you list:

I also hope this thread helps developers find other developers who are good at modding stock camera apps, and which they can then help each other , and in turn make more ports of a better camera apps : The Dream
great idea
Thanks ,yeah lets just hope it stays active long enough to get a sticky, this would actually make it so much easier to try out camera ports that people may not ever know about

Hello everyone, I am creating this thread to provide the stable and beta builds of gcam, to avoid confusion and to keep the forums clean.
Thank you @S4turno(Celso) for hosting, mirroring, translating and sharing all a to z Gcam..
Special Thanks to @Arnova8G2for all his support and hardwork !!!!

Is that.....is that Comic Sans?!?
So you asked the mods to close your old thread because there was proof of you kanging and a day later you decide to start a new thread? What's the point? It's not like people will just magically forget because you changed the title a bit. Just ask the mods to reopen the old one or let someone else take over who doesn't use it to promote his own telegram because he got blocked from the official one.
The author of this thread is not the developer of gcam ports or has anything to do with it. He just creates countless duplicated post (there is already many gcam threads active) and steals xml configs putting his name on them. Another fun fact is that he has countless fake telegram accounts and is obsessed with gcam because devs tried to teach them and he doesn't know the basics. Is a frustrated spammer wannabe. Thread reported as a duplicated one (as the last one which got closed)
Please don't spread misinformation. Your weird gcam obsession has already gone too far. Best of luck.
I have installed the version 7, but cannot see AstroPhotography? How do I enable it?

Scroll through his previous thread if you're looking for evidence. He's not trying to help people. Helping people would be redirecting to the work of others with some info. What he did was rename other peoples work and posting it as his. No need to argue, it's a proven fact.
Hi OP,
I notice that you have a previous thread with almost same content. You should consider to continue that thread instead of making a new one.
I will close this one for now and you could request to re-open the other thread.
