Guys,
I'm looking for a good 'Word' game for the TF.
Not one like Scrabble or where you have to re-arrange a group of letters to form as many words as you can.
No, what I'm trying to find is one where you are first presented with a collection of letters in a large block and you then have to tap on each letter to form a word. You are then given a score for either the length of the word or the type of letters used.
As you tap away and a word is formed, the remaining letters above drop down the screen to replace the ones you have used and are then replaced with new ones from the top... if you get my drift.
I don't like timer's as I like to take my time, pause if I want or come back to a previously saved game.
It's a bit of an ask but can anyone recommend such a game?
You're describing the Dropwords game almost exactly (it does have a timer).
There are free and paid versions on the Android market:

Eric
Perfect Eric... Nice one.
When you said it had a timer I very nearly gave up on it as I don't like timers, I like to take my time and save so I can come back later.
However, because you took the effort to post I should take the effort in trying it out.
I'm very pleased I did because on loading I immediately noticed you can select a variety of speeds for the timer..... including a 'non-timer'.
Also, you can save the game and return later.
Perfect Eric..... perfect.
Good suggestion....it's a lot of fun...but it's not optimized for tablets...it would be even better then.
@Beards,
You're welcome. It's one of my favorites.
You actually helped me out - I never bothered to check out the timer options.
Thanks!
@rpavich,
It may not be optimized for tablets, but it works great full-screen on my Transformer.
Some time ago, I was also looking for a similar game (on a different OS). So much so that I made my own, which seems to fit your criteria. The name is Wordsler and is available in the Android Market (I don't have 8 posts here, and apparently not allowed to place a direct link yet).
It's got a non-timer mode, a 2 minute timer mode, and an online mode (where everyone gets the same sets of letters within a 24 hour period).
This is just a spare-time hobby, and I'm not great with graphics, so it's nothing fancy or shiny, but I think the gameplay works quite well.

For anyone else, here's a direct link to the game Silkswift mentions.
I had a quick look at the two pictures shown of the game on The Market. It wasn't much to go on but I downloaded and installed.
Unfortunately as soon as I went to run Wordsler it then asked me to download two sets of libraries.
Nothing is mentioned on either The Market or your developers Web Site of these libraries being required so to anyone not knowing what these are or what they do, I think most people will then do as I did which was to close the App down and uninstall.
If Wordsler is going to need additional files to run you do need to let the downloader know in advance and explain why they are needed and what happens when they are run.
HI Beards, thanks for checking it out. My apologies for not mentioning the additional libraries here. The description in the market does mention them at the beginning (with a few stars for emphasis), but it probably could use a better explanation. The extra libraries are part of the android-qt project (port of Qt apps to android).

Yes, going back to The Market I see you have now added the information on the libraries required. You also now mention it may be better to install over Wifi.
This is a good call and another reason why you needed to mention the additional libraries in The Market link.
It would also be good if you stated the actual size of the additional download. That way the installer knows full well what to expect, which in turn makes for a happier user of the software.
Although I don't think it is what I am looking for (I prefer a much larger rectangular block of letters with actions similar to that of Dropwords).
However, I'll give it a try for you. Will report back later... have a very busy day ahead.

Good game dude, i'll rate it on my computer since we can yet on market. Like said previous, you have a lot of extra sceen, so bigger blocks would be great. It would also be nice to have "Validate" button up with the words, and maybe a "Clear all" for quickly deselecting all, but that doesn't really matter. Thanks for the free DL!

A smooth and realistic looking starfield, inspired by the ones found in cracktros and demos during the 16 bit era. (Amiga 500/Atari ST) I tried a lot of different starfield live wallpapers on Play, but couldn't find one that was smooth and looked like I wanted, so I made my own.
- Speed and number of stars are both configurable
- Silky smooth as long as your device can handle the number of stars you set
- No permissions required to install
Please note that too many stars on screen at once will lag, eat CPU, and can potentially reduce your battery life. I kept the maximum allowed number high (one thousand stars) so future devices can benefit fully. On my SGS2, 250 stars looks decent and fluid with several widgets running.
I will be honest with you elite developers here on XDA, I am not much of a coder, I did some assembler on my Commodore 64 back in the day (that was when we stilled called it "programming" even in the demoscene, before the term demoscene was coined) and some basic-ish and asm on the Amiga. I don't even know Java yet, so the performance might not be the most awesome. But hopefully some of you might appreciate the "retro" look of this Live Wallpaper.
Google Play URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mikeri.starfieldwallpaperics (I'm not able to posts links yet, too few posts.) And please ignore the ics part of the URL, it's Eclair+.
Just tried this, and it looks fine. It would be nice an option to move the stars direction with screen and maybe trails? Good job
Thanks for the kind words! I'll be focusing more on learning and getting to grips with Java and the consepts of OO based programming in general for now. I haven't used much time on it the last week due to "real life" stuff going on, but I hope this is the start of an awesome hobby.
WowBulletin - Beta testing starts for my new app
World of Warcraft has been a major presence through my life - taught me many things and I couldn't be happier to have played it for a long time. Blizzard games has also been a huge part of my life since Warcraft II - Tides of Darkness, and I've devoted more time playing these games than doing whatever other kids were doing while growing up.
The problem that I tried to solve was very simple: I couldn't find any mobile-oriented and easy way to read news about my favorite online game. MMO-Champion being the biggest and most popular website for all-Blizzard related news and they don't have a mobile app (well they do, but it's SO terribad that I can't even consider it an app).
I decided to build an app that will help the millions of players to browse news articles, blue posts etc without having to deal with a website that isn't mobile optimized.
The decision to work on this was also to work on something different, outside any Root related tools, which allowed me to try new APIs, new design choices, and made me think out of the box.
I know this app isn't something for the majority of users that follow me, but nevertheless I would like to hear feedback from anyone, WoW user or not.
I pushed the app to the BETA channel couple hours ago and you can try it now, completely for free (I'll have some premium functions for the final release). The app isn't finished, I'd say it's about 85% done, and it will have bugs. Although I had a couple users who been using it and reported some ideas/bugs it WILL break sometimes.
If you want to help or just check it out you have to:

2 - Apply for testing: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.franco.newsforthewarcrafter
3 - ???
4 - Download it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.newsforthewarcrafter
I'm pretty happy about what I achieved so far, it's been tricky to come up with something like this without an API, but it's been tremendously fun. So fun that I think I never coded something in such short time with the amount of complexity involved.
The icon/banner/promo banner are placeholders, I'll have proper graphics for the full release.
I'll leave you with some screenshots, hope to see you helping me BETA test the **** out of it
Hi there,
I've been self-learning app making and started with Android. Creating a Taboo app was one of my first ideas and after a long time I finally finished it. It's one of my first apps, but I believe it's leagues above any of the other taboo apps out there!
It's called "YKWIM?" (You know what I mean?). It works like the the card game Taboo, where you get your friends to guess the word without using the words listed on the card. I'd argue my app's sleeker design and swipe-functionality makes it stand out against the competition.
Here's a link to the google play store page:

The idea has been something I'd been working on for over a year. But only a couple weeks ago I really buckled down and re-did the whole thing from scratch. There are over 450 cards in there, that I made myself -grueling. Most of the code work was done in two days. But it took me about two weeks from start to finish to finalize the designs, create the pictures, etc etc (on top of going to school). I don't study cs or have a background in it (history major actually), but despite that, this project didn't feel too tough to do.
I'm hoping to get any kind of feedback - critique on how the app can be better, advice on development, etc. Looking forward to learning more!
About 3 months ago, I decided to finally get around learning how to develop apps. The first result of this journey is a launcher I released at the play store a few weeks ago. It's simply called "Letters" because it's a home replacement app that does not use widgets nor icons. I created it with the idea of trying replicate the smartphone experience from a bygone era before that fruit company came up with a colorful kid friendly interface.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.archbrey.letters
I released it as an open source app so if you're interested, I can post a link to the github page. (At the moment, I'm not quite sure if I can post just about any external links)
The version it is now on is now at a point where i am happy with it as my daily driver and now I am currently preparing to embark on a new project. Even so, I would still appreciate any feedback so that I can make it even more awesome.
