[Q] Flashing Rom - HTC Inspire 4G

im not new here, my friend got this old HTC Inspire 4G ( running on GB )and she wanna custom rom it, i knew about bootloader unlocking on htcdev.com ( i did it already before )
i already downloaded:
Android Revolution HD 7.3
ext4 recovery updater.apk
1. ill root it with Root and Restore by Bin4ry ( is this gonna work? )
2. and install ext4 recovery via ext4 recovery updater.apk and enable smartflash ( is there a smart flash for inspire? )
3. Back up files and stock rom
4. and wipe then INSTALL AR-HD!
is my method gonna work?
any tips for me?

Read the Ace Think Tank thread. You need to unlock the bootloader, flash a recovery from fastboot, flash a rooted ROM from recovery, and then flash the ROM zip's boot.img from fastboot.

You can't flash radios with S-On. Only with S-Off.

Yes, it can be used. Just flash in 4ext, don't reboot but use power menu to go to bootloader. Extract kernel image from ZIP on your PC, flash via
fastboot flash boot [Tweaked3_XI]/kernel/Sense4_boot.img
fastboot reboot
Done

I have tried flashing JB4.2 and Kitkat but neither works. I had Kitkat working but it was a bit laggy so I was going back to JB.

In case flashing the latest 4ext doesn't help. Usually 4ext gives an error code, what does it say when it aborts the intallation?

That zip can't be flashed. You need to extract the img in there, then boot into bootloader (fastboot) and use this command
"fastboot flash recovery [filename].img" (without quotes and replace "[filename]" with the actual name of the file)
fastboot

Last time i tried to flash a new rom to my phone. I dowloaded HTC One S All-In-One and i tried to do this by this aplication. I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted my device. Also i have flashed CWM recovery. Then i tried to flsh a rom, so i have launched recovery and started to do it. Rom was installed succesfully but mu phone have been stuck on boot animation and i can't do anything with it. My computer doesn't read it and i can't put any file on phone. I havent done s-off. Pls help me with this trouble. Sry for my bad english
When S-On you need to flash kernel separately or you will get a bootloop. Just flash boot.img with adb.

S-ON users have to flash boot.img manually via fastboot after flashing ROM.
Here are the steps:
1. Extract ROM zip file with winrar or winzip
2. Follow this guide on flashing boot.img from extracted ROM folder LINK or this video guide Video LINK
3. After that reboot and wait for ROM to boot
Click thanks! if this helped
Thank you for your help. now my device is working

It doesn't matter. I works both ways.
I preffer to do it before rom install because after installing the rom I just reboot and wait for it to boot.

Same procedure as above.
Kernel is integrated into boot.img.
So if you want to flash kernel from rom X , just flash boot.img from rom X.
If you S-OFF your phone then you can flash boot from recovery.
If i want to flash another kernel and not that from rom then what i have to do?

You have to S-OFF and then install kernel from recovery.

Custom roms with TWRP

I read that custom ROM apply their own recovery. Does this mean I cannot use TWRP with the custom rom?
No ,TWRP is best and you can flash any rom with it
It is not neccessary to use the recovery mentioned in the flash instruction
