I had this problem on my previous phone, just enter a sim's number and put the sim in some random phone, wait for the text message with the activation code and boom, you can WhatsApp when you have wi-fi!

Cheers, but ive tried that and there is no option to enter the code, as now it tried to do it automatically, or get you to request a phone call and listen for the number.
was thinking of maybe trying to install a really old version of whatsapp, any idea where i could find an apk?

No, that doesn't work, just wait out the 5 mins and then it will offer you to either call you or enter the code.

[Q] Not Receiving SMS Text Messages

As the title says I'm having a problem with receiving text messages. But here's the thing, I will get most of my messages. For example yesterday I didnt receive two, and the day before was the same thing I didnt receive one message. I noticed this about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The reason why I know I'm not receiving any is because I told a couple friends about my problem, and if for some reason I'm not answering back or I ask the question again, they will say they sent me a message.
But its not like I'm not receiving any messages, it just happens to be 1 or 2 every now and then. I dont get whats wrong.
Is it T-mobile?
My nexus S?
My ROM? (NS Collab 1.0.12)
My Kernel? (Netarchy 1.3.0.0)
Anyone else experiencing something similar??
I had this same problem. Was never able to figure out what it was, but flashing to a stock rom or near stock rom solved it.

What ROM were you running before? The ROM I'm using is based off of CM7 nightly #28 right now
CM7 or CM7-based.

In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information.
You need to re-enter the SMSC Carrier number for your carrier in Hex.

try textfree, works for me over wifi or data, some say it doesnt work for them but 99% of the time its works for me,
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pinger.textfree
Well I was hoping that I could still use my number so I don't confuse people with mismatched numbers :/

I think you can use google and keep your number. I remember I set it up but didn't want to pay to use my original number or something like that. I can't remember.
Okay thanks man I shall take a look into that I'm trying anything anyone offers that whatsapp never sends me a confirmation text so it doesn't work:/

I use Text+ and have found it to be great. Though it does give a different number my wife just put it in her address book as my tablet. I can at least use it both on my phone and tablet and still have the same number for both.
I might have to try one of these. When I go hang out a my cousins house my phone switches the network to telcel since we are close to the border so this would help me out some.
Gosms is nice..
*Kingpin... get it?*
I use mysms. I can use it from the PC, tablet and phone, and it syncs the message throughout all my devices. Its also free from the market.
google voice does this... works great

This is what I use on my Kindle Fire, and it works alright. Not sure if it has a notification alert.

Phone cannot use sim

I am on Vodafone and the signal strength is full but the bar is grey (used to be blue). When I attempt to make a call it says something like "Cannot connect to mobile network". I have tried factory reset twice, taking the battery out for over 10 minutes and rebooting, toggling airplane mode on and off many times but they all didn't work. Can anyone help? Thanks.
I'm on O2 and had the same problem I went to 02 and thay got me a new phone but I'm on contract so thay had to. Maybe you will be able to get a new phone if that's the problem
Good luck

Just found out that it is something to do with the IMEI number. I will have to somehow change it or do something else to fix it.

[Q] Is there an app that would notify me on phone A about activity on phone B

Hi !
It's kinda difficult for me to explain but it's fairly simple:
I have 2 android phones:
1. Phone "A" with number I use all day and carry it with me.
2. Phone "B" with number I use rarely and usually it stands on the shelf all day long.
I receieve calls, SMS and other things on phone "B" occasionally. Sometimes entire day passes until I see that I have missed call, SMS or other notification.
Is there an app that would notify me on phone "A" that I have some activity on phone "B" ?
Thanks in advance ! :good:
Im looking for a same aplication too for android. Can anyone give us a clue??

There are mobile tracking apps for your kids phones this would work in the same way you install on one device and everything is sent to the main device as well you install parent app on reciving phone and kid app on host phone wich I also believe is able to be hidden and password locked ill try and find a link through my old emails

You can always find some sort of call forwarding app/SMS forwarding app that should be able to address your needs.

Need to transfer contacts!

Hello, I have over 150+ contacts on a trac phone, the sgh-t105g, and I need to transfer the contacts to my new Nexus 4 but I have no idea as to how, any help would be much appreciated as I don't wish to spend my next hours plugging in names and numbers for each and every single contact! :crying:
In Trac phone simcard has to inserted?
If so its easy..
Or else if trac phone has internet push ur contacts to gmail or facebook then on nexus pull it..
Good luck..
The SIM card is not a micro sim so I'd have to cut it and eliminate it afterwards but I'd like to keep the phone still working for emergencies and the tracphone does not have internet.. Lol
You can backup your contacts using an app like SMS backup, and then restore them on your other phone using that same app
But how can I get that app on the track phone if the tracphone doesn't support internet connectivity. Its just calls/texts. That's my problem here :/
Does ur trac phone can send vcard ?If so send all the contacts Sanjay vcard to nexus...
Try this ....
What is vcard? & how can I tell if I can send it?
You can send contacts via Bluetooth or send a vcard. if necessary, you can send to have any application, and then by the same application to restore them
Hi
Try to download it to your computer from androiddrawer.com and then send it to your phone for install.
Hope i help
Contact backup apps are recommended or android has it own conatct import/export feature

I know the topic is dead, just wanted to ask you this. All the simcards can store a small
Group of contacts say 25 contacts. And there should be one option in Trac phone
to copy contacts from phone to simcard. U can later put the sim in any device and copy contacts
There. Did you try doing anything similar to this ?
I did not try that as stated with my original purpose. The track phone uses a normal sim meanwhile the Nexus 4 a micro sim. I would then have to cut the normal sim into a micro one and hope I don't mess up the sim tray in the nexus (I've read many articles that it has) & then I would have to use some sort of tool to allow my now cut down micro sim to fit back into a normal sim to fit back inside my trac phone to keep it as a emergency phone... Which at this point it's all more of a risk than something worth the effort to try, but yea.. Lol.

Try taking it to a sprint store they have a contact transfer machine. I'm not sure who your carrier is but I'm sure they'll do it for you
