any device with 5 channel output - Android Stick & Console Computers General

hello,
is there any device on market that can give 5 channels via hdmi or digital output?

I think its a software problem. You need the right codecs, I did it with installing MX player, open its settings then go to codecs, and there there's a link that gives you the right place to get those.
It works like a charm!

well i tried everything including that.
there's an ongoing discussion about rk3066 hdmi audio output capabilities which questions if the chip is good to produce or the kernels available are lacking the talent. so i gave up. i m just looking forward to buy a device with 5 channel audio capabilities.

[Q] Are There Any Free Video Players For .mkv Files?

I've searched around, tried QQPlayer, Kascend, Rock Player and Mobo and none of them can play the files properly. Either there is no sound or way too much lag.
Dice Player seems to be the only option out there, so since I'm a cheap bastard I want to see if there is a free alternative out there before I shell out the five bucks.
Have you tried mplayer? It's the only way to go on a linux desktop. I'd venture to say it would do well on our phones.

Try daroo player in market.

Just tried MX Video Player and Daroo...neither work.
on to mplayer.
Have you converted the files down to the res of the screen? Also for rockplayer you should try both the software and hardware decoding options before giving up

Nah, I hate converting videos. Use to do that when I had a PS3 a few years ago. Pain in the ass.
I did.
I played around with all of the settings in every player I tried.

Tried a few and Diceplayer was the best in the end.
It supports HW acceleration and plays 720 videos really smooth.

Yup, the only that works for me. I'm just going to stop being cheap and shell out the $5.
I can't believe it's this difficult to get .mkv support. It's 2011, who uses .avi or .mpg anymore? EVERYTHING you download in high def is an .mkv Playing these files should be like being able to play an .mp3
Have you tried MX Video Player, there is a trial version available
that has ads, but I liked it so much I paid for it. I have managed
to get it to play 1080 mkv, it supports dual core decoding...

Wow, hadn't heard of .mkv. It looks good though, I need to investigate further. I guess there are many conflicting commercial aspects to it. A bit like FreeBSD/Linux in their early days vs AIX/SunOS/HPUX.....

.mkv seems to be the standard with HD videos. I don't download anything unless it's 720p+ and every uploader chooses .mkv

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Try it out, it's free and great.

[Q] How good does .avi files play?

I'm considering buying a Xoom, and I've been trying to read up on it, and it seems as though video playback has been discussed to great extent. Most of what I've read is about HD files (.mkv).
How is the video playback of .avi files on the stock player?
If it sucks, would you recommend any other apps? Or would I need to re-encode them?
I will use this when travelling, so I can't use any streaming software from my regular pc.
I have no problem with rooting and installing custom ROMs if that would improve anything!
Thank you!
Is it so much of a diffference it's worth doing it? Is it unwatchable if you don't?

In my opinion it is not worth doing. Just download Mobo Player from the market and you'll be fine. Not had 1 .avi that would not work with Mobo, nor noticed any difference in the quality.
No issues here either, there are a few things that I've reencoded due to size but not found any issues..
fyi I've been using freemaker video converter to reencode stuff if it needed doing.
On the xoom page on motos website it says that .ago is not nativly supported by the android OS, and that using decoders may reduce battery time if its not done on a hardware level. Any of you having trouble with battery life?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Mobo does both hardware and software rendering and there are other players on the market that will use hardware rendering.
As for battery life, I cant honestly say that I have seen a decrease that would make a difference to my useage.
Thank you all!
Now I know what I'm gonna ask santa for this year

Playing Media Hub through MHL.

I'm pretty sure you can't normally do it, but are there any mods to do so? My girlfriend's never seen Forest Gump and I only have it on my phone through Media Hub, haha.

Anyone know the answer to this?
Man, the Q&A section seems very empty these days. No wonder so many flow into General, lol.
way back in the day gtg said something along the lines of "it doesnt look easy" unforunately nobody has a better answer.
the problem is that its not simply mirroring the home screen. the mhl output seems to have a resolution independant of the screen and it interfaces with the video player to change resoluion of the output and turn off the phone screen when a high res video is played. so the video player and mhl drivers all interface in ways that the devs dont have documentation on and its not simple to reverse engineer. i dont think anyone has even waisted time trying. it also interfaces with the tw launcher. i wouldnt even know where to start. do you try to mod the app? do you mod the kernel to try to force mirroring? how is the launcher involved?
best bet is to download the movie in as high a quality as the 4gb file size limit will allow and watch it that way.

If you bought the movie, you could copy it from where mediahub stores it and just play it through video player and maybe the mhl adapter would work with the video player
Froggys go ribbet

media hub has a proprietary format. if someone figures out how to read it and transcode it then maybe, but good luck getting that figured out.
Or stream it off YouTube. Lol. Its there.

The BEST Media Player for Android - Bsplayer

I searched the forums for this and did not find it.
bsplayer is the best video player for Android ever! It will play any media file that I throw at it. It will also stream VOB files from a share drive!
I am not the dev for this but I wanted to give him exposure so that more and more people use it. For those who have used it what are your thoughts?

in my opinion , RockPlayer2 is the best media player on android, with really great UI and performance, and It has some unique feature, like 'Rockshare" , users can share their videos with friends just use their phone, but not exchange SD-card.
yes, after installing dozens, this is the only one that plays my 4 gig 720p DTS audio mkv file. But the video color quality can be better.
I always go back to vplayer

What rom/kernel are you on? I'm on Synergy and it would flash back to the home screen using the default (Ziggie's) kernel. I switched to Lean Kernel, and it worked. I haven't watched a full movie yet, but it appeared to work ok. Did you install MX Player as instructed?

Thanks man, I dont know what all that neon stuff means. Mind explaining?
It seems kind of complicated, it seems like it'll make graphics run smoother, and it is also supported on our devices, so I'm about to try the neon versions of mx and xbmc

Keep us informed man.
I never terry it, but i tried it, works great with allshare cast dongle.....:silly:
Ok so I have the neon versions. All videos (tmz, news, wimp.com) play well except for full tv or movies from icefilms and project free tv. Icefilms stays stuck trying to load a list of movies and project free either gets stuck loading in the mx player when I try play a movie or tv show, or it'll play with tons of buffer issues, I'm talking every couple of seconds

Still on the non neon version and it works perfect for me.
I'm thinking There's just something wrong with those particular channels like Icefilms.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Ice film is working perfect for me though. After I installed non neon MX and non neon XBMC I opened MX Player and downloaded the codec it wanted me to download. After that I closed it out and opened XBMC. Acted a little funny. Went to application manager forced stopped MX player and cleared data, did the same to XBMC. After clearing everything out I then opened MX Player again, closed out and opened XBMC. Everything seems to be working perfectly.
Edit: Could it be your signal? When I drive to Orlando it says I have 4G but its weak as hell. Lags while watching videos. This is around Waterford Lakes Town Center.
Well I've only tried it on Wi-Fi, 4g is great for me. I get close to 3mb a second
