I've had my s3 for a few months now, and have always had poor talk signal. My data signal is always great, but my phone calls are always dropping, or cutting out, even if I'm within just a few miles of my local tower sometimes. Does anybody else have any similar issues?

Curious to know why messages sometimes fail. I know if i dont have service, thats an obvious answer. Sometimes though I will see the failure notification and then i glance up and see that I have service. Did I loose service and it came back that fast / I didn't see it, or do messages just " some times fail" ??? Please point me to the reasoning of this, I am techy and am very curious why.
This happens maybe 1once every 1,000-2,000 messages, so not very often at all. And I have noticed this at home at my desk, driving ( passengering) in the car. ect.
As well as do the -DB account for the signal bars, ( I have a widget that shows signal bars and -DB) or is DB something that goes along with signal strength?
??????????????

If this happens once every 1000-2000 msgs I wouldn't worry.

I probably average one of these a day, half because of signal, half not. I think it's just AT&T. I wouldn't worry about it.
Well I'm curious why it happens.....?

happens to everyone. if it's not happeninga lot, deal with it.
there definitely was already a thread about this. It is from a momentary network drop possible a corrupt packet along the way or some obscure system problem. Unless it is happening every message (which happens to me at home because of ****ty reception) just suffer through the 5 seconds and three clicks. There is not a magical fix all solution by changing a setting

Is this a cappy thing or AT& T thing? Apparently again there are. 2 towers down in my area...

...you just answered your own question. If your reception is so great with 2 towers then it must be your captivate. Most people don't go through perfect cell reception for several thousand messages so a couple of fail to send are not a problem

I said 2 towers are down. But I'm in a different area and I fail like. 1 outa. 70 with good service. This has just been a common problem today. Otherwise it is seldome.

I think we all have this issue, no matter the phone. All comes down to the primary factor - AT&T
Lol the irony. I came down south 70 miles from where my home is where the down towers are, only to hear there's down towers in this area as well. Haha

Sorry did not see they were down plus the moonshine making had me a little loopy. With down towers in the area the other ones are being over taxed. Att already has problems with their networks being assaulted by iphone users

Randomly on any call lasting more than 10 seconds...anyone else getting this?

I have issues receiving calls now. If they don't leave a voicemail then I don't know anyone called. This has been a rampant problem since updating. Thankfully very few calls that I make or *receive* have issues.

I missed three calls last night also, if not for texting, I would never have known.

WI-FI calling works flawless now.

It seems to work well for me, too -- when it works. That is, I have the same problem now that I did before the update: after a day or two of uptime, Wi-Fi Calling won't connect. It says "weak wifi signal," even with full bars on the signal strength icon. If I turn Wi-Fi Calling off and then back on, it sits forever trying to connect. The only remedy is to reboot the phone. It's kind of a pain; I don't get a very good signal inside my house, and the availability of Wi-Fi Calling was a major factor in my decision to upgrade from my Nexus One to the G2x.
i just made a call dont use the phone on it much and it was cutting in and out thought it wsa a bad connection . just gonna chalk this up as a lesson learned. its obvious complaining hasnt produced much of a result. No more LG for me.
and LG does not stand for like garbage- there are many that find garbage useful.
After 5 minutes it seems my call is disconnected - but thats been the case on every T-Mobile phone I've owned. Good thing I don't use the phone too often.
My wife's iPhone has full strength while my infuse has one bar and drops data sometimes sitting next to eachother. I'm on infused 1.5.3. Is there anything I can do?

A lot of people have this problem. I haven't read a fix for it yet.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
It's entirely possible that the infuse is giving a more accurate reading of the wifi signal than the iphone.

Yes I thought of that. But I keep losing data during this time. She doesn't. And I get a you should stay with iPhone smirk. I have 10 employees all on iPhone and 30 family members all on iPhone. So imagine the arguments I have LOL. The employees I tell to zip it or ill give them a blackberry curve.

Are you losing the 4G data connection or wifi? If you're losing wifi, download wifi analyzer from the market and see what wireless signals are humping that channel with your wifi, then switch your network to a less busy channel.
I did that and I get a wireless signal through all 3 floors of my house.
And as much as I enjoy mocking my wife's blackberry, she's dropped that thing a million times and half the keys are worn off, but it still works (somehow)...
Thanks. Yea its just wifi. Yes I love mocking BB too. But I agree , I once threw mine across the yard 20 ft and it was still good. Good memories there. LOL

Lol Well sounds like you already know your stuff, but if you need help with the wireless stuff just lemme know!
I try and use my wifi at the house when I can but like you sometimes it just stops working even when I'm clearly in range. I usually turn it off and have to use my network. Pretty sad but the wifi on this phone doesn't seem to be its strong point.

Agreed. My only complaint so far is wifi. I'm chomping at getting the galaxy s2 now as well. If this phone is so fast and smooth imagine that one. With dual core.

I'm thinking about buying a SGS3 to replace my Thunderbolt.
I tried a Galaxy Nexus, and while I got good 4G reception at home, it had trouble getting any signal at work. (4g or 3g WiFi was fine) I've read about similar issues with the SGS3, and wanted to avoid that phone if I'll have the same problem.
With my Thunderbolt I get pretty consistent signal reception at work.
I came from the Thunderbolt and this phone is a little better. I get good signal, but not as good as I would have thought or expected.

It may depend on where you live too. I'm outside NYC and 4G is never a problem. And have never had a dropped call.

I'll say, at home signal is perfect...during area. I also work in the country a lot and my s3 gets better signal then my previous razr maxx. So I'm very happy, but not everybody has the same experience.

Hello everyone. I am having a problem regarding WiFi signal on my Verizon gs3. Im running the final cm10 build and every time I leave more then 5 steps from my router/modem my signal goes down a bar with every step. I'm not sure why. When I walk back towards the router it goes back to full. Is this normal and something I never noticed or is it a problem? It could just be my crappy at&t internet.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Uhm, that's normal for any type of WiFi connection. When you are farther away from the WiFi source, connection is weaker and vice versa.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I know but literally with every step it gets that much worse?. Didn't know It was effected that bad.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Shouldn't drop that fast, your router may be going bad or it could be a problem with your phones wifi. I get signal over 100ft from my router.
