My Surface RT arrived a few days ago. So far so good,
Is there a sleep timer app to set a time for the Surface to power off and 'sleep'? This is good if I'm watching something from my bed and drift off to sleep.
You can press "Windows key + W" , type "Power Options" then press enter. You can setting monitor timeout and sleep timer in there like in normal windows PC.

Hi,
Through Settings/Buttons in Windows Mobile 6.1 on my Touch Pro it is possible to map an action to a long press of the 'answer call' button.
Me, for example, assigned the SPB Wireless monitor popup to show up when I hold that button for a couple of seconds.
But here's my problem: when I hold that button down for a couple of secons, the SPB wirless monitor does pop up, BUT the application i'm currently in gets minimized. That SPB Wireless monitor popup is made to appear on top of the active appliction (for example, when I launch the popup via the start menu, the current application I'm in doesn't get minimized).
Is there any way to keep this from happening? I find it really useful to see my download speed and such when browsing with Opera, but I can't do that if a long press of the answer call button keeps minimizing Opera
Thanks !
I have been trying to get any external keyboard to work on my Gtab since I got it for Christmas(wife wrapped it and made me wait...). I haven't had time to try the other ROMs yet, so I'm still on the stock 3389 update.
I couldn't get any of my USB or Bluetooth keyboards to work. I searched the forums and saw that someone suggested to boot with the USB device plugged in. So, I figured I would try this. Turns out all I needed to do was plug the keyboard in while the Gtab was sleeping, and then wake it up. The caps lock light blinked, so I knew it had just gotten power, and I had full keyboard access! The keyboard that I am using is an old Bondi Blue iMac keyboard. The arrow keys navigated around the Classic Home screen with no issues, so I started pressing keys to see what worked. So far, the Home key takes me to Classic Home and the Left Command/Apple Key brings up the menu. The right Command/Apple key doesn't do anything. My personal favorite is when I pressed the keyboard's Power Key. It actually puts the Gtab to sleep, and will wake it up again when I press a second time! (though I just discovered that any key will wake it back up...)
I have newer Mac keyboards in my basement, so I plan to test them out aswell, but I have to say the Power Key putting the Gtab to sleep just made my day!
-----------------
F1 - brings up menu
F3 - crashes whatever app your in
F4 - does the same as pressing the power key(sleep/wakes up)
ESC - same as back button
Typing in the Classic Home screen goes straight to search
in Classic Home the space bar brings up some wierd window with a bunch of secondary characters, like ... Registered trademark Copyright _under+ [] {} \ |
If you let it sleep too long it, when you press a key the Gtab doesn't want to wake up too easily. Takes some patience and pressing the power key on the side of the Gtab.
I'm missing the hard home button I had on my S3 when driving as it was easier to press the home button to wake the phone. Is there a way to wake the phone by voice or with a wave of the hand without killing the battery? I would assume the mic probably takes less battery than the camera constantly running to detect the wave of the hand.

wave control pro
Anything that does either of those would just kill the battery.
The best and most battery friendly way, is the power button. Some roms you can set it up to use the volume buttons too.
There is double tap screen to wake option too, with certain kernels, but again, battery eater. It can be set to timeout, so it doesn't use as much battery, but then you're hitting the power button again.
I've got tasker setup to kill the app when I'm not in the car so battery hit won't be that bad.
Could look at double tap to wake / slide to wake kernels?

Is there any way this feature can be turned off automatically during night time? Can't understand why it's not in the settings. I use the watch as an alarm clock but when I move at night it lights up and it is getting on the wife's nerves.
Your wife wakes up when your smart watch screen turns on at night?

Click to collapse
So she says
Drag the screen from the top down, and press the icon that looks like a watch. This will turn off the screen and no tilts or accidental touch will turn it on. To exit this "night mode" (used to be called theater mode) press the physical button of your watch.
Thanks a bunch
In settings, it allows setting the 'Air Action' for 'Hold Down Pen Button to' (aka long-pressing the S-Pen button) to any Android app.
So, I setup this Tasker Task named Mute Media Toggle and selected an Icon image for the Task.
Task: Mute Media Toggle
If Condition %MediaMute equals 1
Variable Set %MediaMute to 0
Media Volume Level 10
Else
Variable Set %MediaMute to 1
Media Volume Level 0
End If
I then exported this Task using Tasker App Factory as an app named mute.media.toggle. I then assigned the Mute Media Toggle app as the app for the Air Action for 'Hold Down Pen Button to'. Now whenever I'm in an app that uses media volume, besides using the standard S-Pen Air Gestures for volume up/down, I can now mute/unmute the Media Volume simply by long pressing the S-Pen button. I really needed to be able to mute/unmute media volume easily because the Amazon Fire app when streaming video from the Amazon Recast DVR doesn't have any volume controls at all in the app's video playback screen.
So I imagine that anything Tasker can do in a Task should be able to be set to the 'Hold Down Pen Button to' action.

I'm using the app SideSqueeze+ for extended S-Pen gestures, since Samsung's gestures are unfortunately pretty limited. It's a very useful app with great support. I recently asked about an option to change the over all volume up and down and it came with last update
