[APP][FREE][Android 7.0+] YouTube Downloader 8.2.2 & 9.0_beta
An Android app to download YouTube videos (and extract/convert audio to mp3).
Compatible from Android Nougat (7.0 - API24) and up.
Get it here:
DOWNLOAD LATEST BUILDS: https://dentex.github.io
Installation
The app supports Android versions starting from Nougat (7.0);
Remember to enable Unknown Sources from your device’s Security settings, to allow installations of non market apps (safely ignore the subsequent dialog). Please note: in newer versions of Android, this kind of permission is not system-wide, but has to be given to single apps;
If the “install” button is not working, temporary disable apps as Halo, Screenfilter, Twilight, LastPass password manager or anything similar (apps that do “draw on other apps”);
To install the app, click on the notification about the completed download; If you have a file manager installed, you can browse to your download folder and install YTD directly, clicking on its apk file.
Usage
Search for video and music within the app itself, OR
Select the “share” button in the YouTube App while watching a video (or share any YouTube plain text link via any App) and choose “YouTube downloader”;
You’ll see all the video codecs and qualities available for the video you’re on. then:
Press an item to download the video locally (on the device) or to send the download via SSH to a remote PC. Destination machine requirements: Bash and Wget (and FFmpeg for muxing 480p and 1080p videos). More SSH info available in the app’s tutorials;
Long-press an item and choose between copy to clipboard or share link as text. Note: such a link (differently from when you send it via SSH) can be only used from the same device where it has been created OR from the same LAN, if you share it to another PC;
Use the Dashboard to interact with downloaded video (audio extraction/conversion/mux and file management);
You can copy/move/rename/delete files on the external sdcard.
Features
Search for YouTube videos within the app;
Download on your device;
Remote download on another PC via SSH;
Multi-threaded downloads: maximizes bandwidth available and minimizes YouTube’s speed throttling;
Support for almost any format/quality available from YouTube;
Audio extraction to aac/ogg or conversion to mp3 (menu available via single-click on items in the Dashboard tab);
Mp3’s ID3 tags edit;
Mux Audio-Only and Video-Only streams into a complete video (to enjoy HD resolutions available as separated streams only);
File management (menu available via long-click on items in the Dashboard tab);
Handle download link: copy and/or pass it to other apps;
Video list filters by format, quality etc via (left) sliding menu;
Many preferences to customize usage.
Known issues
Some very long running downloads may be forced to PAUSE state if the app is not kept to the front for a certain amount of time. In this cases a manual resume is needed;
It's possible to use the external (removable) sdcard as download destination folder, but that’s one caveat: only the app’s private folder will be available. IMPORTANT note: this folder will be deleted by the system (together with all your downloads) if you uninstall the app. For the moment it’s not possible to choose a different directory on the external/removable sdcard;
The stream traditionally used by the app for the video preview if often missing nowadays, so a low resolution video-only stream is being used in such cases.
Anti-features
Are not supported for download all videos that:
require login for age confirmation;
implement encrypted streams (some complete movies);
are not available in your country;
are live events.

Maybe dumb question, but why is Google Music not playing my converted mp3?
Background: I use your newest version available over F-Droid 2.6.1, autoconverted to mp3 (from WebM) @192 kbps. Google Music finds this converted .mp3 file, but won't play it. With VLC player no problem at all.

Hi.
I really don't know what could be the issue. I've always played anything thrown by FFmpeg with ease. Anyway I'd like to do some tests; I think I'll be able during the weekend. Thanks for the info.

Hi there,
Thanks for the new version.
One quick question thought:
We have to uninstall 2.7 first? Before installing this new one? Correct?
BTW what are the major changes?

First results look good (vevo still working fine).
Notice that mp3 is now post-processing option on the download manager (no more options showing up on the main setup screen).
I'm going to continue my testing.
Great work.
Cheers.

No need to uninstall. The App's signature is the same. This beta-3 has the internal version number subsequent to the v2.7, so uninstall would be required for the other way around.
Changes are some bug fixes/optimizations (not visible), thumbs into the dashboard and progress bars that now should work better.

I don't have anything against usage of other apps, but I've already told you [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44998991&postcount=739 ] that you do have this option, clicking on a video entry from the dashboard (and you said it was awesome).

I would donate money to someone who made a remote app to foobar2000 for android.
Maybe there already is but I've searched a lot and cant find it =(
There is this http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=38114 control.dll wich handles some commands and the connection over tcp/ip.
But the rest I can't do on my own
I also would like a foobar remote. I've done the android tutorials on the sdk website but I'm by no means an experienced developer.
I thought I would base it around the android-vlc-remote interface.
Perhaps a google code project is a good idea?
I have written a remote controller for foobar2000 a while ago. It's not very beautiful, but at least it works. It's not a plugin for foobar though, it's a server program written in Java. It still just has the basic controls, but I'm about to make it good and release it after my exams (in a couple of weeks or so).
Try out foo_httpcontrol. Then there are a few templates that look good on the Android (I use the ones by KEVO).
I can't post a link, but here is the URL, but Google and there is a thread on Hydrogen Audio dot org

beware, shameless self-plug follows:
i've written an app to control foobar2k over wifi. uses the foo_httpcontrol plugin to send commands/get data.
the website is: foodroid.net84.net (has the QR-Code). or simply search for "foodroid" in the market.
please note, if you already have foo-httpcontrol installed: you also need to have the "ajquery" template installed.
if you don't have it installed: i made a setup to install foo-httpcontrol including "ajquery".
it's currently in beta, but pretty useable IMHO.
cheers, bugramovic

It already is an .apk file... please just rename it to apk and then install it (apk is nothing else then a standard zip-file with a different ending...)!

Does this allow remote streaming from a dreambox? That would be awesome
Oh,
hi, dreamDroid can be found on the market for quite some time now.
As there actually is no Streaming-Client capable of playing MPEG-TS... no sorry, it doesn't. But as soon as there is a possibility i will implment streaming!

First of all thank you for this great app!
I have two minor remarks:
1: I can't stream recordings. I have read this problem is caused by a problem in vPlayer. Is this correct?
2: If a stream over 3G/H with a VPN connection it takes some time to load the stream and when the stream is playing you see a lot of squares. Is it possible to change a setting to fix this?
any plan on future version to support Enigma 1 as well?

Correct, vPlayer has some problems with blanks and special charcaters like the german umlauts (äöüß...).
On Way to solve this is to change the filename-scheme for recordings on your box (future recordings should work than) to anything else than the default value.

3G is just not made for streaming high-data-rate videocontent... i don't know anything u could do to solve that (besides the fact that every data-plan i know would be used up within minutes or at most several hours of streaming).

Well, originally dreamDroid was designed in a way that allowed adding support other protocols pretty easily.
While at some point there would be some more work to do than just a "simple protocol implementation" it would still be possible to do so.
But there's some other issues:
1. I do not have any enigma1-based STB anymore
2. I do neither have the time nor the motivation to implement a second protocol
3. Until now no one else felt up to implement enigma1 support
dreamDroid is an open source project and everyone is welcome to join it, as long as he's sticking to some rules and conventions . Just contact me.

Wow, this app is absolutely amazing.

I've tested streaming only via WiFi. Sometimes it loses the stream.

sometimes my timer.xml is away after make a new timer.
I think, it's because Ä,ö, ü or something like this.
Hi
Great app except cannot install vplayer to my htc wildfire. Is there any alternative?
I presume it is because of Froyo on my htc?

update: black screen issue to.
it works great !!! thanks for letting us know about it.
You have to choose a channel from the list, i couldn't find the functionality to type in a custom address.
you also might have to let it buffer for a couple of minutes, but that depends on the channel. i'm using a sgs4g.
All I get is a black screen, audio is fine.
there does seem to be some functionality missing from this version, however as it is still in beta i'm sure they can be forgiven.
As previously states there does not seem to be any option to insert an address or channel id manually, also clicking on a sop link in an android browser produces a message that there is no software installed to handle the function...
I don't know enough about android to know if you can tell a browser (dolphin) for example how to handle the request? Or to send the request to the sopcast app.
works fine for me, took me a while to find the channel with the match on tonight .
If they can provide an channel input window, it'll be perfect.
I was watching the match on my PC, which was oddly 30 seconds behind the Android! As a result I ended up watching it on the phone.
Good resolution, not jerky, Liverpool won!
The images don't do full justice to the quality (think taking stills off video), but they will give a good idea.
after looking a bit deeper in to the app, there is a url entry bar, its under menu - local media - menu -url
This also allows you just to enter the Sopcast channel number also.

I had to input the whole URL, just the channel number wouldn't work for me. Still, it's just copy and paste from the browser, so no problem.

Same here on ICS (TF 101).
Working flawlessly on Xperia Mini Pro, though.
+1 no video on TF101 ICS
working fine on SGII running GB
I've just emailed sopcast support about it.
Maybe if enough of us report the issue it can get resolved soon.
Hey guys,
We are working on InstaReloader - the development tool that reloads class and resource changes on the fly while developing the Android application.
Its purpose is to minimize the time consumed by the application rebuilds and reinstalls during development.
Right now supported features are:
Adding and reloading regular and inner classes.
Refreshing changes in method bodies, adding and removing methods.
Adding and removing variables, constants.
Reloading changes in layouts, menus and other stuff in res directory.
Here is a short demo of InstaReloader:
Prototype android layouts on the fly demo:
What features are also needed? How many times per day do you rebuild & restart the app? We would like to add some reloading functionality to the popular frameworks and it would be great to hear your feedback
You can download InstaReloader form here: Android hotswap tool
Pre configured Eclipse sample project
Pre configured Android Studio - Gradle sample project
Looks quite awesome, it would save me a lot of time every day.
When do you plan to publish? Will it be opensource?

It is too early to think about the final, though alpha will be released soon. Right now class reloading is pretty stable but layouts reloading is a pain in the [email protected] Would you like to participate?
The good news:
We improved layout reloading. Now you can add onClickListeners in the Java code for newly added elements and be able to interact with changes almost instanlty!
Planning to add support for Intellij IDEA soon.
and Intellij IDEA is supported now
This app can be used for all android roms? Or it has some requirements and support only some android devices?

I think should work almost an all ROMs, depends how significant it changes from the original android's one. So far I've successfully tested class reloading on LG, Samsung, HTC, ASUS devices with original ROMs.
With Layout reloading it's a bit harder because usually this part is "fragmented" so need to create a separate plugin for each brand.
new features demo video is added
Just uploaded another awesome demo video to YouTube! Android layouts can be prototyped on the fly:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogatWLZA4yQ
We've sent closed beta release to first participants today! It will be available on the XDA soon!
Made the configuration doc. It's quite big so posting link only: http://www.instareloader.com/instalation-configuration/. We will drop some steps in the next version.
ART
I wonder is dynamic class loading possible in ART aka dalvik 2.0 We will check and try to find a solution after receiving the new nexus with the 4.4
InstaReloader 1.5.1 is ready. It contains better logging and bug fixes.
InstaReloader 1.5.1 is now public. Here is a direct download link to this Android code hotswap utility
Implemented cool new feature. InstaReloader can be started from the test-project. Only one entry should be added to the manifest file. Will release 1.6.0 after documentation is ready.
InstaReloader works on KitKat with ART!
InstaReloader 1.6.0 is released!
Download it here: http://www.instareloader.com/download
InstaRelaoder 1.6.1 is released! Now it has support for Android Studio and Gradle.
Check the new demo app: AS-Gradle sample app

I was wondering the same thing. Very quietly this project just disappeared. I wonder if there is anything on github from it?
I think the developer has been contracted by jrebel.
But i'm working in a open source project that does the same thing:

Hello. Thank you for bug report. Can you send the link which you tried to download?
Needs a dark theme option and yes torrent + magnet link imports from browsers such as Firefox Nightly needs fixing. Have to shutdown the client 1st before tapping to fetch. As for the rest of the minimal settings approach, +10 points to the dev good job keep it up.

I ca't change download location to SD card, I get error. "Unable to use selected folder"
Promising. I'll keep watching this thread but for now I'll stick with Zeta Torrent.
You guys use jlibtorrent, right?
it's worth adding that all these features are made possible by the BitTorrent open source library JLibtorrent (a wrapper of libtorrent), created and maintained by the FrostWire team, which also contributes weekly to libtorrent
Cheers.
Nice app.
replaced utorrent with this :good:
@proninyaroslav No option to search and download torrent. Current search button works only for searching downloaded or downloading torrent files

I can add search engine using a list of known trackers, but since there is a problem with tracker blocks in some countries, this becomes quite problematic.
Would it be possible for this to work without using WebView ? Now it will just crash without it.

I have two ideas about streaming support: make it universal for any file formats, or specialized for video with subtitles (in fact the app will itself determine these files in the torrent). What would be the best option? The first option gives more flexibility, and the second one is aimed only at the video stream.
Seems to work well.
