No, if you wanna update your J just plug in the phone on the usb and plug the usb into your pc. When you start up Pc companion you will see a message that there's an available update for your Xperia J. Just press update and follow the steps.

Got the DRIVER for my Tipo at last !

I have been searching for driver package for my tipo but in the Sony official page you can download drivers for Oly high end Xperia device(THERE IS NO DRIVER FOR SONY TIPO )
So what you gonna do for the driver package ?
How can you root your phone without a driver package?
How can you USB DEBUG withouw a driver ?
Well I was also horrified with questions like this when I started to debug my device
Well the only thing you can do is to use this driver called "PdaNET" this driver is so AMAZING because this driver is created to SUPPORT ALL ANDROID DEVICES so finally tension free.
simply type "pdaNet android driver" in google search or click this link and you can download the file and install the driver and I say again THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DRIVER FOR TIPO DEVICE only this pdanet driver is going to help you to debug your android device
Yep, its working for fastboot drivers (blue light), but freezes the pc for flash drivers (green light), for normal connections, it wont give me mtp drivers unless I install pc companion.
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
U can get drivers for tipo also by installing Mobilego software

i'm look for flashtool driver for tipo dual....
my tipo dual not detected in flashtool...
Install sony pc companion for the phone drivers an then your phone shoud be recognised... (you'll have to have locked bootloader so pc companion can detect the phone)

My Xperia tipo is rooted and i downloaded xperia z framefork for tipo from xda and when i restarted after copying it, the phone stucks at the xperia logo and even it is not connecting via usb to pc in flashmode or in any other mode. Plssss help.....
The repair men says that he needs another xperia tipo to see usb connector jack onboard prints to fix the usb connecting problem........

Most likely the guy is having you on.
All you have to do is pull the battery out and chuck the phone in the bin and buy a better one joking
Anyway
Pull Battery Out, Put Battery In, Hold Volume Down While Plug Into PC, Install FlashMode Driver. Flash FTF Enjoy Your Sluggish Tipo!
but it is not connecting via usb........
i tried many times but it is not connecting, says not recognized..........even it is not connecting via pc companion
Method 1.
Download Sony Update Service (google it) . Use this method only if u have not unlocked your bootloader.

guys im in desperate need of help i've installed the drivers for xperia z3 via xperia flashtool drivers the flashtool v9.18.5 seems to fully recognize my phone on boot but as i access flashmode it recognizes my phone as device connected with usb debugging off and as i tried to followed the instruction given on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672 for lollipop can't even bypassed the pop up waiting for flashmode devices screen with some keys to follow so im unable to flash the ftf for the lollipop fully and hoped to relock my bootloader and restore my lost drm keys. currently the only way i can update my phone is by using prf creator.
hi .I just bought an Xperia L (C2105); after few days of using and downloading guge number off apps it got freezed and when i tried to restar it my xperia shows nothing but the Sony Logo until the battery drains so i tried using flashtool but when i select the firmware it says this
x1.this bundle is not valide
x2.thisbundle is not valide

.......
so i searshed and found that there is another tool from sonymobile called emma to flash sony devices and i downloaded it but whenever i connect the phone to the laptop it says this device is locked and cannot be flashed try to unlock the bootloader
so again i went to flashtool and pressed unlock bootloader and connected the Xperia L but after a few seconds the flashtool said that my phone bootloader cannot be officialy unlocked. and i need to check uknown sources and debug mode but thats clearely impossible as the phone is stuck
so i went to pc companion and pressed update service and connected the device and it detected it as soon as i plug the usb cable but it says that i need to update my pc companion and get the version suitable for my device which im sur i downloaded the exact vesion for the xperia L from the sony mobile website
So basicaly non of the tree programmes allow me to flash my xperia L and now i dont know what to do im stuck with an unusable phone .
is there something im missing here flashing a device should be a peace of cake but this device is a hell of headacke
