[Q] Cannot upgrade to Play Store from Android Market - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone,
I have a probleme with my HTC Desire, Android version 4.0.4
I cannot upgrade to Play store from market, i've downloaded many versions of Play store and then try to install them
When im trying to install it says: This is a system application. Do you still want to replace it?
I do OK. and Install
Then it says: Application not installed
An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed.
I have cleared market cache, and disabled it without any changes
So please try to help me
Thank you ..

Do you can login on Play Store/Google Market?
If you are logged in, the Google Market updates itself.

Normally, Google Play updates itself automatically. If didnt happen, try to do it manually.
Go to Google Play/Market -> Press menu -> Applications -> It will list all your applications -> See if there an update to Google Play/Market.

[Q] Unable to install apps from Play Store

Hello,
Post rooting (repenting it already) my Samsung Galaxy S Plus (GTI9001), I am unable to install any apps via Play Store. I am able to install apk's from the SD Card though. I un-rooted the phone but problem persist.
When I try to install any app, I can see the app being downloaded on the notification but the moment the download completes nothing happens. When i go to Play Store > My Apps I could see that it still says downloading though the app is fully downloaded. I guess some permission issues here. Please help.
I have already cleared Play Store cache and tried.

Hello,
Which Rom do you use? Maybe you have to root it again. Usually you can fix permissions in CWM. Have you tried to restart after "Download is finished". For Me it was working on my Asus EeePad.

Chris, I am still on stock ROM and I am not likely to go for a custom ROM since there are not much good ROM's available for Samsung Galaxy S Plus and Yes I tried multiple reboots. After reboot, on the notification it says that app download failed due to some error with a number.
Thanks for your reply.
Same issue
Reyolin,
I have had the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus but it has only started today. Mine has been rooted for about 5 months now, since I first got it.
I did a search using EStrong File explorer and it found a file called "downloadfile.apk" in /cache (I assume this is the file as it is the same file size as stated in the Play store. However, when I tried to run or copy it it had disappeared.
It's almost like the APK is being downloaded and then being deleted before installation actually occurs.
I think rooting your phone and the inability to install apps is just coincidental.
I will do some more playing about and see what I can find (I also already tried removing the Google Play updates (to go back to the old style Market). This still did not solve the problem.

Exactly same proble
Hi,
I have exaclty the same problem (galaxy s plus), rooted 5 month ago and problem started 2 days ago...
I updated superuser at that time and tried to update the su binarie but it fails on validation of new su and stopped (not replacing old su), this is the only thing I can remember of. root is still working with old su. Maybe the cleaning needs to be done ?
Has someone found a way to fix this?
edit:
after some investigation, this is what happens:
if I try to install one app from play store, it is downloaded correctly and then nothing happens.
the file downloaded is in /cache/downloadfile.apk
If I copy this file to /sdcard/external_sd/downloadfile.apk and run it manually it installs correctly.

galaxy s plus specific issue
i am having the same problem since morning and i also use Samsung galaxy s plus, so certainly the issue is phone specific.
Good news! Problem solved for me
Hi,
I contacted google play support and her was there answer:
Thanks for contacting us and I am sorry for the delay in responding.
We've gotten some reports that users with Samsung Galaxy S Plus devices running Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread) are having trouble using Google Play. We're aware of this issue and to solve it we recommend you to uninstall updates to the Google Play app by following these steps:
1. Tap Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2. Find the "All" tab
3. Scroll down to Play Store and tap to select
4. Tap "Uninstall updates"
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
So I followed this and it works again!
Here are the steps after doing google recommendations:
- click google play icon, it will open old google market
- install an application, for me it worked again!
- exit google market
- click again the google play icon, it will ask to accept google play license
- click yes and then try to install another app, it worked again!
Hope this will solve also your issues,
Stef
I Just had the same problem. Here is how I fixed it,
- Uninstalled updates for Google Play
- I added a New Google Account.
- I Then signed into the new Google Account, Then Sign Into Your Main Account
And "BOOM" problem solved.

MArket apps problem Xperia S

Hey there!
My situation is there are two same xperia s devices with the same stock 4.0.4 . Same google localization and we tried to install dead trigger on both.
One of them showed it in play store and installed without a problem, but the other one doesn't show it and can't install it. When we force to the apps play store page it says its incompactible with the device. But when i go to play.google.com manually sign in with the google account and find dead trigger click on install it starts installing. So dead trigger is solved but there are many apps on the play store that the device doesn't show when we search them.
In the app settings i cleared data and deleted updates. It has not solved the problem.
Any help\idea would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

Did you uninstall the play store after clearing data then reinstall? Im certainly no expert but will try help, if that failed, you said your running the same 4.0.4 I remember reading in the build.prop file is your device name, if you have flashed a rom it is possible the device name has changed, according to google play I have a different phone, I am not sure about the Xperia S but it's something to look into perhaps.
If you log into the play store on your PC it will tell you what device it thinks you have when you try install an app.
One other thing I noticed, Titanium Backup advised me that my device id has changed, with the paid version it restores it to the original, not sure if that will work if you didn't have the program before flashing.
Good luck anyway.

MiPad 2 - Installing Google Play Store

Hi,
I bought a new Xiaomi MiPad 2 64GB Android version but was bit disappointed when I didn't find Google Play Store in it. I tried different suggestion on the internet to install apks manually from various forums (not sure if those apk were legitimate, bit scary now when I think about it) and got play store somehow installed but none of the apps would install. It goes to the stage where you are shown the window with permission the app needs and it fails with a message.
I have restarted the tablet multiple times, tried installing many apps, uninstalled the google installer and reinstalled it but to no avail. Its very disappointing that its so difficult to get google play store on to an Androind tablet!
Has anybody got any suggestions, should I wipe off what Xiaomi provides and get a new ROM in (I haven't done custom ROM installations before)?

I Think You Have To Flash Gapps to Make Playstore Work Mate From Your Recovery ..
As Your Phone is New, You Have To Install A Custom Recovery Like TWRP to Flash Google Apps(GAPPS) ..
Check this link for That ..

ok, thank you
You have to change the Data file system to ext4 and then reflash the OS with TWRP. Helps to have an usbOTG cable and a thumb drive with the os.zip and Supersu.update.zip on it because as soon as you reformat the data file, say goodbye to everything on the device. So backup all your stuff to a pc or what have you first. After that your Google apps will work fine. You can just download Google Services framework5.1-1743759(22), Google Account Manager5.1-1743759, Google Play Services10.0.84(x86+x86_64), and Google Play Store7.3.07 from APK Mirror and go to settings, Autostart and select the three that show up. Restart your device and you are good to go.

Google play store error 505 after nougat update

I use Facebook for work as we have fan pages. I use Facebook pages manager to manage them. I never had Facebook downloaded on the z5(work phone). I received a notice in play store that pages manager had an Update available. That's when I started receiving the 505 error code when trying to update the pages manager. Then I uninstalled the pages manager and tried to reinstall and now it won't install at all keeps giving me the 505 code. I read online where they say to remove the Google account and then add the Google account back, clear cache and data etc.... and if that doesn't work of course reset your phone. I'm not going to reset my phone because I will lose too many important chats with in different applications on the phone.
Is anybody else seeing this issue?
Update: the only apps that won't update are Facebook,f.b.pages manager, and now f.b.messenger....I'm not a Facebook fan,but need them for work.
This is an unlocked phone bought from Sony in Thailand. Model E6653, build# 32.3.A.0.376

if you are rooted and have sony ric disabled then install playstore again using lucky patched, but first go to settings apps find google play store and wipe everything from that app.
EDIT : Best thing is to use titanium backup(you have to be rooted) and backup every app that you have important chats on, and then do full wipe(excluding /system).
Full stock z5
I'm not rooted. I'm also using a Huawei mate 9 with 7.0 and having no problem with Facebook apps. Thanks.

Is the problem only with page manager or with other apps, if only page manager simply download page manager apk from apkmirror and install it and that's it.
Only Facebook apps are effected.
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to installing apk, roots etc...

Apkmirror is source of official apks so it is same thing like if you download from playstore.
So I need to download from unknown sources? Check that option in security section?

Open this :
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/facebo...manager-102-0-0-15-67-2-android-apk-download/
press download apk, then go to:
Settings Security enable unknown sources and then install this apk, just press on it in notification area, after installing disable unknown sources if you want and that's it.
Even though I get a warning message saying it can harm my device?
Thanks for your help.

Ignore it, i use apkmirror for years and never had any problems with any apk.
It downloaded, but I can't locate it. It's not in my app drawer or on any home screen.....
I went to my down load section, and tried to click it,but it says can not because it conflicts with existing package. So I know it's in the phone, but how do I access it...?.....
File Commander or any other file manager and locate Downloads folder and there it is.
When I try to download
Here is the screen shot
It won't open......

I did. I deleted any file that had the word Facebook in it from file manager too. I even went into Google play store under all apps and deleted it from there also.
It's so strange how it only FB,FB messenger, and the page manager
Well this is a bug. I experienced this problem after upgrading to Nougat from Marshmallow using flashtool. Sideloading (apk) won't work. Do a factory reset, that's the only fix.
It's just too much trouble factory resetting. I'll just have to use my other device.
Thanks guys.
you have to do a clean install not update..

No Playstore after Vivo Pie update

I'm having a Playstore problem. After Vivo Android 9 install, I no longer have the Google Playstore. When I try to install the APK from my phone's storage, Vivo security interferes and denies the install. When I try installing from my pc Google online Playstore, I get a message stating there's no phone linked to my account. Removing all Google apps and reinstalling Gmail or Maps as Vivo Facebook suggested, still doesn't install Playstore. The update from Vivo has somehow cut my phone's link with Google Playstore. From what I've come to understand it has something to do with a "handshake" file Vivo severed on my phone.
Any suggestions on getting back Playstore - or which Google apk to remove for initiating a fresh new Google install as when I first purchased the phone?

You could try installing manual play store via apk mirror.
https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=Play+store+
https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=Play+services++
Try not only the most recent version but oldest as well.
Maybe that be the solution
Also uninstall both play store /play services from your device(more settings-app manager-more-show system)before attempting install manual both Google services.
