[Q} App for logging names and emails? - General Questions and Answers

I need to record people's names, email addresses, etc at an event that I am running. Instead of having a pen and paper that people physically write their info on, is there an app for that? I'm trying to build an email DB for future event promo...

Intercepting Text Messages

I get alot of text messages from some people and my partner would like to be able to intercept those messages so he can have a copy of them on his Wizard. How would he go about doing that?
You want all you SMS messages forwarded to another phone?
think he want to set rules for which ones are forwarded
Your "partner" can't intercept them.. But you can do one of two things..
Either create a program intercepting all incoming SMS'es, always forwarding them to him. You could append the sender phonenumber in the body of the sms or something so he'll know who it is from..
The other thing you could do .. is write a client/server app, so when you get an sms, it's intercepted and posted to a homepage/server you have.. Your partner could have a clientversion which regurarly synchronizes the data from the server and adds them to the cemail.vol file.. making it seem that he ha got the sms aswell..
Another thing again .. you could just make another app which sends the incoming sms as an email to your partner.. Many ways to do this.. but he can not intercept them.. you have to forward them either as an SMS, Email or pure data via a server solution you code/develop...

he can also make a program which only intercept sms's from a list of phone numbers or where surden texts or char's are present
but the program would need to run all the time and periodicly check for new sms's
i would like a program to reject sms messages or mms messages by phone number like i was able to do with my old phone.

I think I'll just go with the first suggestion. Thanks!
MOD EDIT:
this is obviously illegal.
lets move this discussion to the Q&A section

Hey all. Nearly 2 years have gone by since the last post in this thread and I know technology changes over time. I've done some reading about intercepting SMS/text messages but I was wondering if there are now any other ways to do this.
I want to be able to intercept text messages sent and received from one particular CDMA mobile phone number, or to have them forwarded to me without the person's knowledge. I don't have physical access to this person's phone, but if it helps I do have their ESN/MEID for their device.
I'm not so worried about intercepting phone calls or anything. I can get close enough to the user's phone though to be on the same cell tower as them if needed in order to intercept or have the SMS messages forwarded to me.
Are their any options for making this possible without direct access to this particular device? I understand the idea behind copying the identity of the target phone using a SIM card, but again, I don't have physical access to the phone in order to do that. Thanks!

Guys,
Isn't this illegal? You're literally asking to be the NSA or the government, snooping information without the person's information or consent?
Spying on a significant other?
Cheers.
good point. didn't read the last post.

Secret Phonebook?

Is there a way to keep certain contacts in a PPC's address book secret, as in other people using the phone cannot view it unless a passoword is keyed in.
I am looking for a third party application that can do this. Keep certain contacts private.

App to email without user intervetion?

I'm looking for an application that can send a direct email to a user of the contents of a file or passed into the application..
Basically in Tasker, I can have it send emails but it just basically populates the client of your choice with the data, doesn't actually send the email. I'd like to be able to have this automatically handled. I've requested if Tasker can do it, but if it cannot I'm looking for alternatives.
I've seen a few code examples out there, but nothing complete. Has anyone else seen or could write something that would do this? My use scenario is along the lines of building some information in Tasker (location, battery status, maybe call log, etc random stuff) and emailing it to myself. Tasker would perform this action based on incoming SMS or Email or something along those lines.

I don't see the need to mail binary, html etc.. Just plain text.

Cannot fix wrong email and resend with gmail app on CM10.1 nightly

So had a very interesting situation... Needed to send an email to [email protected] but was provided the email address as [email protected] (where xx is the 2 letter country code). Naturally, after hitting send, got a bounce back for undeliverable address. Then was told by the recipient that the .xx at the end of the address should not be there.
So I try to recompose but everytime, the gmail app matches to the now remembered "wrong" address and replaces the recipient with this address which naturally fails. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to edit this address before sending since it would rematch back to the broken address after the edit. So it became impossible to now send to this recipient using their correct email address. Well, not impossible but the workaround was fugly.
I am running the latest 10.1 nightly. The fundamental problem seems to be that the contacts app is one created by CM(??) and it lacks the ability to view the "other/not assigned" group which is where this one off recipient address should have been listed so I could delete/edit it.
Of course, it would also have helped if the gmail app tried to be less "intelligent" and stop matching if after the first match, you edit the address or provide a way to edit without matching to previous recipients.
Alas, was quite a frustrating experience for such a simple problem...
FWIW, was talking to someone running stock and their contacts app (ie. the one from Google) had the ability to view the "other/not assigned" group and so it was possible to delete the wrong recipient.
Try logging into the desktop site. Should be an option on there to delete recent email addresses that are not part of your contacts.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Yeah. That's a convoluted workaround. The other option was to forward to one of my yahoo account and forward again from there.
Was hoping there was something I had overlooked but seems like you hose an email address, there is no easy way to correct that and resend in the gmail app if you are on a phone.

CalCall Appointment Scheduler and Caller ID

Hi guys this is my first post. I developed this app and this is my first app. I being Civil Engineer require to take appointment and get the caller info on the screen while call by searching though appointments.
Concept is explained below:-
This app basically uses the GOOGLE CALENDAR as the Source of Information to display the Name of the caller on call screen during call. So please install Google Calendar from the Store.
This is the easiest way to create appointment after call and get the reminder during the call for the same.
Who uses CalCall? Anyone whose business depends on an appointment calendar. With CalCall, appointment scheduling is easy, replace your paper appointment book today and let the app send appointment reminders, so your clients will never miss a booking again!
Concept :-
In Business we receive lots of calls but we can't store all those numbers in our contact, as most of the times we only receive the calls of clients/others which are temporary. Storing the number in our contact may clutter the contact book making it difficult to maintain.
Also if we have multiple devices, storing the contact on one device won't display the Caller ID on the other device. Synchronizing contact can be sometimes difficult. This will create the same problem of cluttered Address Book.
We normally store our appointments in the Calendar along with the number of client. Why not search the same during call. This is our solution to the problem.
This basically uses
1) Calendar as your secondary contact book.
2) Calendars can be synchronized, hence essentially making the synchronized secondary contact book.
3) This app can display additional information stored in the calendar along the contact.
4) Quick add the contact to calendar after the call from notification.
5) Quick open the contact after the call from notification.
Just store the information of the client in the Title of Calendar along with his number in the Description field. And same will be displayed during the call on screen.
Steps to get the app working
1) While creating the appointment in phone calendar store the phone number in description field.
2) the phone number will be read by the app during the incoming call, if it matches the incoming number then a popup will be shown during the call.
3) choose the fields to display during the call from the app.
