I have been waiting for the 4.2.2 update for a long time now (i live in finland) and as always, everything comes months later here. Today i got a new update for my phone and i was like yeaaaaaaaaah its 4.2.2, downloaded and installed, and what a disappointment. Its still the old 4.1.2 with same bugs, same old interface, same old lockscreen and all. What is this? Why didnt this update really change anything? Not even the version number.....im getting mad to samsung! I know i can get the new version by rooting and flashing a custom rom but i dont want to risk it..
Anybody else with this problem???

Hi all be nice its my first time..
i would like to know how to tell if my phone is branded (tmobile) there is no web n walk icon etc. so might need gold card.
also if i was to root my dhd with the upcoming ota release of 2.3 is it worth doing for custom roms.
what is the difference between ota rom and custom. i ask this because if the custom roms are all good then should i ignore the stock rom updates. and just use rooted.
i do like the stock rom but ive done the update at xmas and need to roll back...
ive just rooted my first android tablet, which was a risk because i wasnt sure what machine it was.. but its all good.. so doing the root shouldnt be a problem.
hey all,i own a HTC Desire and im from australia with telstra, ive seen that the update to android 2.3 is available on the developers site and was wondering if it is worth updating it,ive been told that my SMS and MMS could not work afterwards, what is the go with that? will i be affected? if so how would i fix this? if this dosent work can i go back to 2.2,and is this the final official update or is there going to be a proper one that dosent have any bugs or worries, also anyone from aus that has updated with this please tell me what its like.
Don't do it, the bootloader in the official release is locked. That means no root, no going back, no fixing anything that the update breaks. I think the update breaks more than SMS.
Try one of the many 2.3 custom roms in desire development, if you don't like it you can always change rom or go back to stock.
i havent rooted my desire anyway,i tried multiple times but it wouldnt work for some reason, ive tried 2 different ways to do it with no luck, well have u actually seen it it or tried it? coz ive heard some saying that it works fine,if i am going to 2.3 then i dont really need to root anyway
Can you please tell me.. What's the latest update for HTC Desire S? I mean like the Official one.. Is it ICS 4.0+ ?
Since I have totally messed my phone up by rooting, unrooting, downgrading, upgrading, installing custom ROMs over one another - I didn't do it properly. I have no idea how to check the what's the latest update.
Oh another question, according to what I've told you above, does this mean my phone is like dead now?
It kept freezing and starting itself many times - is this because of the ROM or is it because of the phone? The phone is very very slow and it lags a lot lol.
Thank you in advance!
The latest update was gingerbread. But I suggest you trying to flash different rom rather than reverting back.
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Froyo.
Hi all,
Okay as you have noticed I'm rather new here and still reading some of the posts on rooting and installing ROMs but basically what I'm trying to achieve here is to remove a Carrier logo from the phone (Galaxy W I8150T) (Vodafone) Phone is unlocked and I wanted to give it to me dear ole Ma and she is on a different carrier.
To be honest not really into rooting it I was just looking for an easy way to re install a stock gingerbread rom minus the stupid logo's.
As I'm in Australia would the ROM's here be ok ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654643
My phone says Ver 2.3.6 I8150TDULM1 .... if any devs want this rom let me know ...not sure how to copy it but am happy to give it a go and transfer it if required.
Basically just wanted everything to work for her like radio etc if she wanted to use it .... so maybe when I get a few more clues I can try things like rooting phones ( that just sounds wrong) anyway help a noob out please.
hey i have the T version as well id recommend getting "cyanogen mod 9" if you want to get rid of the Vodafone branding as i did. it will also be running ice cream sandwich. it is completely stable and has no carrier branding although is is a bit more complected. you could also get jelly bean but is unstable and so i wouldent recomend it for your mum to get cyanogen mod 9 go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576874
So i just got given a really nice acer a510 with a tegra 3 in it.But when i recieved it it came with android 3.0.1
Ive tried everything to update to any newer os.The software update says poor network coverage even though it has full wifi bars.Ive tried downloading roms and loaders but as im very new to this i cant manage to do it.
The android version is 3.0.1
The build number is acer_a501_0.006.01_com_gen1
If anyone can help me that would be amazing i just cant stand the old ancient 3.0 version.
Please!
I would love to install some sort of custom rom such as cyanogenmod
Anyone?
