Ninjasms from the play store is a good option or many other SMS apps support popup

Handcent is a great sms app that is COMPLETELY customizable.

Glowfly is a popup app... pretty neat

I use SMS Popup. I've tried GO SMS Pro, Handcent, and others. MMS does not work on them (at least not when I tried them). Pictures are always downloaded as movies or something and I have to "play" the file to view the image. It's weird. Maybe it's just me or it's been fixed....might give them another try.

Test app for facebook

Hi, im developing an app called LightWeight Facebook Notifications, if you don't want official facebook app and receive instant notifications.
I posted here for who want use and testing and tell me any kind of bug or suggestion.
Fow now, only notify your wall activity and related, no message or friend request.
The app use push notification and it will not use any extra battery life, it uses almost no data and it does not run in the background constantly.
Thanks!
Will this work with 3Rd party apps for Facebook?

Nice app. I just have a couple suggestions: 1) Consolidate the notifications into one and add a UI for displaying them rather than one app notification for each FB notification. 2) Add an option to ignore FB app requests/notifications.
Edit: It appears to not notify for private messages, wall posts, or tags.

[Q] Better messaging app??

Can anyone suggest a better messaging application which should not show the content of message in notification bar? I was using GO SMS Pro but now its too much bloated and doesn't works properly.
Text secure beta:

Love this app. It's smooth and is more secure then stock SMS and MMS. And it dose not display message content in notification.

I read that it encrypts the messages on phone. So when I am uninstalling it, does it decrypts it for normal use??
No:/ sadly I uninstalled it and it removed all me messages

That's the sad part of this app. Once you are using it, you have to continuously use it.

Yeah but thankfully I have no important texts. And you could always forward them to your email if you wanted to remove them haha but that is a lot of work

[Q] Can someone recommend a good messaging app for miui?

Miui is awesome in its stability and appearance.. Only issue I am having is the default messaging app blows. It doesn't group messages together when sending/receiving group text.. Or at least I can't find an option to correct it. Does anyone recommend a messaging app to replace the default? Or know how to fix the default app?

Textra is decent. I forget, can you not download the android messaging app from the play store? If not, you may be able to side load it.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks, downloaded the android msg app but the group message on that isn't right either.. Trying textra now to see if its going to work.

Could this work on the Triband version? If so how to i install it without get a force close when i reboot. Because ive tried the s5 messaging app thats in the s4 forum i believe its Verizon and it forceclosed so i had to odin back to stock and set everything up again. Id really like to be able to use it especially for emoji because when i go to send an emoji on my regular tw messaging app it goes to convert it to mms and ive downloaded apps from the play store and none of them do that the only reason im not using them is because it wont let me send mms via wifi calling like it does with my tw. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Disable Floating Notifications/Heads up notifications?

Hey on the S6 is there anyway without root to disable the floating notifications that reads out every message and scrolls across the screen?
I know some apps have this in their settings ex : groupme... But i specifically use hangouts for txt and IM.....
Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
yea i want to know how to do this too. those floating notifications are super annoying especially when watching videos. but looks like there's no way without root though.
Damnn...this sucks. I switched back to my rooted nexus bc this was so annoying!

I'm pretty sure that setting controls all popups but I don't use hangouts. In messages, click more to get options. Then click on notifications. There are settings behind it

With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:
Download from Playstore
XDA thread
What about preventing text messages from turning the screen on every time one comes in? Any idea how to get do that?
If you rooted you can edit csc files to do that
