[Q] - General Questions and Answers

Quick question, since I am new to all of this.... Any advice or help in right direction, would be much appreciated.
I own a HTC Desire HD / Inspire 4G. I would like to root the phone and have been reading up on all the different roms to choose from.... which, honestly, is very overwhelming.
I realize that one rom is not better than another rom, rather they are different in the features they have and offer to the user. However, I would like to know if anyone from experience can offer me some insight on the following roms please (ie: pros, cons, features offered, bugs/issues):
1. JellyTime
2. Android Revolution
If the above two are outdated or you have a different rom to recommend.... I would appreciate the input. Thanks in advance! :victory:

New Android ROM website, for newcomers(idea)

Ok guys, this is just a proposal/idea. I have an idea to make a website, that people can easily find their phone, and then it will display all the ROM's available for their device. As well as show them the ROM's it should also be able to display images that would help people that aren't technically experienced to install and enjoy the ROM's that we do everyday, with ease. The only problem ( and of course people are wondering, why tell us just DO IT) is i have limited X-HTML experience and Javascript experience. I would need the help of all the great developers here to promote their ROM (giving helpful information), and someone(s) to help develop the website. Basically i want to be able to easily find a ROM instead of searching through pages and pages trying to see if and problems persist, and easily state what their ROM is all about. This could really be a break-through website, that can take the awesome geeky-ness of XDA and transfer all the knowledge to help everyone. I really do love XDA, but sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the new terms and lingo. It would also help to de-clutter XDA, leaving developers noob question free. I know i probably sound crazy i know. but if anyone is interested in helping please PM me, it would be greatly appreciated. and it would be the start of something new for ROM's, mainstreaming if you will.
Cheers
...And if this is posted in the wrong place i do apologize in advanced.

[Q] Which rom?

First off, greetings and salutations!
I am new here, and I sincerely hope I will get along with everyone.
I will try to contribute where I can, but for the moment I have a question, instead of answers!
What would be the best choice, not personally, but from a technical standpoint, for a rom that is barebones but still has decent functionality? DevNull? NSCollab? I'm so confused.
Friendly greetings,
Ben M.

I'd go for NSCollab. It's stripped out but with a few genuinely useful extras and you can flash Mathkid's latest kernel for extra features if needed.

[Q] Help with roms that have quiet mode.

Hello fellow xda members, I am some one new to this forum. As I have been with sprint for the last few years. I am not a spring chicken at this. I have owned a touch pro TP2,epic 4g and a Gnex. So I kinda love the best of both worldsTouch wiz and jellybean. i have been running jellywiz Love the rom but i wanted to try something newer. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a rom that has quiet hours in some form and touchwiz. Besides the older build of jellywiz it would be very appreciated.

[Q] New to rooting

Hi, I'm planning on rooting this weekend when I have the time. I also plan to flash a custom rom. So, does anybody have any suggestions for a sense jelly bean rom? I've been eyeing viperxl, so any feedback on viper would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

Best rom threads are frowned upon. Try out the ones that you think will be best for you. Also, questions should go in Q&A. Glad to have new people, hope everything goes well for you.
I'm just going to save myself a bunch of typing and quote redpoint

Q's go in the "Q&A" subforum.
And "Best ROM" threads are frowned upon here. There is no good answer to this question, as everyone has different preferences and needs. Further, suggesting one ROM over another, is an insult to the devs, as it suggests that the other ROMs are somehow inferior (when its largely a matter of personal taste). These discussions often devolve into a popularity contest. And just because a ROM is popular, does not mean it will be the best for you.
Just look through the ROMs, pick a few to flash (with the features you want), and see what you like best.
The ROM threads usually indicate very clearly what works, and what doesn't. If not in the top post, just reading through the last few pages of the more recent responses to that thread will often answer your questions.

looking for best TW ROM?

Hey everyone. I actually used a lot of ROM So far and I can't find something really good. most of the ROM I tried are good but not really stable. Please any suggestion will be great and what ROM are you guys using for daily driver. I am looking for something fast stable. I hate all the At&t apps that I can't delete and it is taking to much space for no reason at all
I will appreciate any suggestion with a link please it might help me and help other to find what actually fit their needs
Thanks
Best threads are normally frowned upon. Its really all a matter of personal opinion. What's best to you, may not be to someone else. You really got to try them yourself to see what you like.
Just my 2 cents...

Hey, Let me get my two cents in before they close your thread....
two words.....
1.Read
2. Test
That will be all, thanks for listening!:silly:
ALL ROMs are the best for those that use them
Follow the advice above as what is best for one may not be best for you as all phones/users/setup/signal strength are different
