Trying to port htc_ime for galaxy note..

Hie guys..
m not a devloper or something like that OFFICIALLy but i do devloping for my self and never made something more than a theme for nyone in my HTC WILFIRE S forum..
i own a galaxy note .. i was here just to ask the music apk .. but thought of hovering first and then ask for it..
and i bumbed into a post where they wanted htc keyboard..
now i will try porting that and i m 75% sure i will port it.
now to those who have used APKTool .. (if you dont know what it is skip the lines in red)
now to decompile a keyboard , we do need every resources .. ie icons and all
as we have to install them first with
apktool if framework-res.apk and so on..
i dont know which resources are included in which apk..
in htc i would have taken these files..
Framework-res.apk (this might be the same in your /system/framework)
SystemUI.apk (this too might be same in your /system/app)
com.htc.resources.apk (this might be touchviz something something. this is just a guess idk if it is right ... )
and lastly htc_ime.apk (i need your stock keyboard apk {for refrence of the height and width and all} )
so i need four files from you..
3 resources and one keybbooard..
i have a note unrooted as i dont wnt to lose my warranty.

See you can really count me into noobs for samsung things.. cuz its hell irritating..
different codes for different countries n all. in htc there is nothing as such ..
its just one rom with different radios (which dont mater even if you use a russian or a europe version staying in india or where ever)
But to my knowledge.. a keyboard has no relation with the rom u use..
it is self made (though there are resources in other apks) but it will work..
and lets just consider its working only for stock.. then i will make a simple tutorial and then each individual can make one for his/her own..
And lemme tell you I WILL TRY .. i m not sure if i will be able to port it..
but its 75% i may port it..
Thing is then that you should make it on aosp or cm9 files... all those apps work on original Samsung roms. Not the other way around thou without Modding.

How to make certain system apps work on other phones

Sorry if this is a noob question or something but does anyone know how to get some system apps working on other phones? For example I wanna extract conversations.apk of the Xperia S and put it in the system folder of the galaxy ace. After setting permissions it doesn't work. Am I missing something? It shouldn't require any libs and maybe it's a hardware thing?
i am interested as well, because i want the Browser from Xperia S on my HTC One X.
Anyone that can help us????

I think so too, here in Sweden Samsung is pretty heavy on the advertising for the note products and the last thing they want is bad publicity for their main party trick - the SNote. I did actually contact them by mail and after describing the problem I requested a "downgrade" file of some sort, preferably an apk. Even though I'm not very hopeful to get a apk file from samsung, stranger things has happened
Please do tell if you are more lucky than me in contacting samsung though!

The thing is, pinch to zoom and pan with fingers while in only SPEN mode have always worked and I don't really see any problems with that as long as it works at least most times which it did at previous versions. There are a couple of ways of implementing this, for example a minimum distance between the fingers and maybe only two fingers pan. These kind of algorithms seems all gone or destroyed, maybe after modifying it to add extra functionality.

I can't get it to work though, it seems fine at first glance and the tablet tells me that SNote is installed but when I open the application it's still just the same old SNote that doesn't work at all. Of course I've rebooted my device but still no success.
Anyone that have an idea of how to get this apks to work?

Delete all SNote APKS and replace with new .
Preference would be to do the job via Android Commander .

Any way to do this without rooting the device? I've not done that yet and even though there are many advantages with root but I'm not really a fan of the risk of bricking the tablet.

Okay, that's kind of what I expected. I'm not that use to modding android apps, but as far as I can tell changing name the app so that the tablet doesn't see it as SNote but maybe "SuperNote" wouldn't be impossible? That way one would, at least in theory, be able to install the application just like any apk even with a Stock OS. Or maybe the problem is that it's impossible to even open the apk and make the changes?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I just tried it with rename the apk, but it still doesn't work. Further I think the key is, to find out which files are in corporate with Snote.apk and copy them all from the older firmware into the new.
So what we have to do is simply to find out which files Snote needs. Do you have an idea how to achive this?!

work for roms that have that keyboard on stock , like cm10.1 and aokp ...
Anyway i give you a small hint if you want to trimm your apps a little (easy for everyone)
First download a app , then use root explorer (for exemple) and change extantion from .apk to .zip then extract the file (you can change something if you like now like icon of the app ... ) and now compress it so his extantion become .zip again and then go download zip signer from play store (first app you will find) and put his name in unsigned.zip and for signed use your here name again but now the extantion need yo be .apk (see picture)
With this simple trick you can save a lot of space (can get you to 10 free mb depend )
hope its usefull

why would you need two of the same app as well as the same version? if you were to have a old version and try to install a newer version it would just update over the older one.

I hav done that but after i recompile when i try to instal it says" there is a problem parsing the package.
galaxy music duos sucks
I'd also like to be able to do this. The reason being that I can used the xposed module-per app dpi settings to have two different resolutions of the same app. A stock dpi for viewing on the phone, an oversized dpi for when connecting via mhl to a low resolution screen.
The note 2 forces 1080p out through mhl and the text is extremely small. The only workaround is to increase the dpi per app. I realize I could change the master dpi in the build.prop but that requires a reboot everytime.
Anyone made any progress on this?
I would like this privilege as well, on my n20 to make spamsung think I got his forced stock app version .hehe
I was checking titanium backup for some dual action possibilities, freezing stock system app then forced my own versions .hehe
