I think a stock base rom with galaxy s3 launcher with theme chooser would be awesome have like red and green and blue and maybe orange themes to choose from like on cm9 and cm10

eugenes working on a sense rom so i cant wait for that but i think it would be really cool if someone could continue nexus mod and make it as aosp as possible without losing the tw feel that would be great since M0D has left our device

How about a tablet homescreen UI and other tablet elements. I've seen a mod, I believe, that has tablet look to settings. I would like to see the whole ROM have that look.
I might not like it but would like to check it out.
Maybe a Note 10.1 port.

i think what youre looking for is paranoid android you can find it in the dev section and if you want the tw look just flash a tw theme

Until somebody makes a decent tw launcher ROM. S3 has a 4.1.1 leak but its near impossible to port, ask illnevertell.

thanks id love to continue working on something like nexusmod but im not that knowledgeable in the thnigs needed to port stuff from aosp and the like plus im kinda stack with homework but i might get on it sometime (just an experiment lol any help would be grateful)

How about a CM9/TW hybrid with outstanding battery life?

Seriously, I'd love to see a CM10/TW hybrid, but I'm afraid of what that would do to stability and battery life as long as CM10's in alpha.

Yes! While I've had no problem with Gingerbread it's about time that we put this S3 Snapdragon to use. We are fully capable of running Jellybean, and likely Keylime Pie. I only purchased this phone in the first place because it's a good cheap, yet powerful hardware, that could go far with the right development.

Yeah been running ICS all morn. Love it!!!! So many features I had no idea that are part of the OS. A Tweaked ICS would just about make me drool/.

You should share a video showing it off or more pics. Does it allow you to see battery percentage at the top? I know Galaxy S2 got this feature with the ICS update.

Yup! Im testing out two versions now, a debloated deoxed, zipalined, and the same but more AOSP themed, so far so good Got s a lil things to fix, but man is it smooth.

So guy's, what's the best way to flash the ICS..? Thomas's way, or dwitherells, or that other guy who created the CWM backup? What's the best/easiest way?

Rofl love that "the other guys backup"
Mine wasn't meant to be easiest just slightly more convenient and familiar. There was a cry for a cwm solution and since I didn't know how to build a cwm update I debloated Thomas's stock and prerooted and did a nandroid. If I had known dwitherell would post his mere hours later I wouldn't have bothered.
So how's this for ironic? We give Sammy and t-mo the middle finger and say "screw you, we'll do it our way" and they respond with "oh yea? OTA, muthaf***as!"

Any free developers willing to take over this ROM?

I am loving this paranoidkangdroid ROM and I wish there was another developer working on it. The current one is busy with other roms and whatnot so would really appreciate someone helping out and fixing some bugs. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028248
and for those looking for new roms try it out. Only major problem right now is cant answer phone call with stock app due to dpi issue. I just downloaded an app from app store only to answer calls. Other than that, I think I would run this for a while. luv it.

You could run pacman and avoid that issue. It has all the kangs mixed.

naw i already ran pacman but this rom has some or more features i like more than pac man. Im willing to use an aftermarket phone app just to continue use this rom. you should try it out. and plz help!!

4.3 for G2X?

Hey guys,
Soo... JB 4.3 is out, and seems quite interesting and worth upgrading to. So, I have a few questions:
1) Will it be worth for the devs to work on 4.3 for the P999?
2) Do you think there will be any roms for it?
3) If no, do you think that the development for the P999 is dead?

First, let me ask you a question. Do you know why we don't have a proper JB ROM yet, or even ICS ROM...?

Development has been dead for a while...there will never be a 4.3 for p999...

I'm daily driving a hackfest, and I love it. I'm sure there's many others who can live with a hackfest too.

If there was a 4.3 ROM I'd think it'd be apolkosnik to release it but with a broken radio like the current 4.2.2 ROM out.
There isn't even a hackfest version of android 4.2. There is no complete source to any hackfest for this device anymore I believe. Development is dead unless Maz ends up getting something released if he's still working on anything outside his kernels in my opinion

I'm using eaglesblood 4.0.4 as my daily driver and love it. The only thing is I don't have video recording and have choppy playback on the videos I took when I was using cm7. Other than that I absolutely love it and its incredibly stable.

That's what I'm currently using, and I wish EB would still work on it. Its really a great ROM. Oh well, I'm most likely gonna buy the MOTO X in a few months anyways..

hmm...closest app to a fully functioning recorder that i have tried so far but still not working correctly. The video freezes up every few seconds while recording and then continues to record again and then repeats the cycle in the playback. Appreciate your tip man but I gotta be honest, I think I'm pretty sh*t outta luck if I want a fully working HD recorder for an ICS ROM on this device lol.

Temasek's CM7 Kang with one of the Trinity MAX kernels. ELP-Max for battery or T15-Max for performance.
If you want properly working ICS/JB, then buy a new phone. Period.

You wouldnt happen to have a link to those by any chance would you...thanks bro .....I just got this phone from T-Mobile cause the Guy sold me on it but had I known it came with 2.2.2 and no baseband update on it I would have told him to shove it up his you know what LOL....but thanks to all of these hard working developers I flashed 2.3.4 and updated the baseband....just looking for a good Rom and kernels to flash

Just skin it to ICS/JB.

Tried that cm7 and it looks good thanks....only thing I see is SD card wont mount....any thing I can do to fix this problem?

The SD and Internal SD are reversed, so if you have a larger SD it makes it seem like you have a large internal memory. Also the directory name for the "external" (now your 5gb internal) has changed to /mnt/emmc

Noob Help Needed (Custom ROM Building)

Hey,
I am jumping the gun a bit but I was going to be getting involved in building custom roms for the S5 (once SS is available.) I figure I might as well start now and if we never get SS (I'm sure we will in due time) at least I will have started with getting experience.
I've searched the internet and found some great guides to building custom roms. I am not a total noob but am new to building roms.
I would like if you all could help me out and point me in a good direction on xda or the web for rom building information so I can give it a go!
Also, I would like it if you guys would comment as to what you look for in a custom rom (stock touchwiz of course) so I can begin researching different mods as well!
I know I look for a good theme with themed apks, adblock hosts, bloat removed, call recording mods etc..

My best advice is to google everything you don't positively know. Also look to use git for comparing apks. Git and meld are a great combo.

By the way there are already aosp roms being built for this device. Check out the unified development sub forum. Those roms should be able to run on this variant. hope this gives you some insight on the people to talk to if you run into issues.

Except that unless your device is a DevEd right now, you won't be able to as we have no SS or any way to add a rom...

also to add what kprice said.. without an unlocked bootloader SS will only be able to flash roms compatible with the kernel/bootloader we have which would mean only stock based roms.. other than that, if this ever changes id love to work on aosp roms!
