[Q] 4.1 vs. 4.2 - Overall performance and smoothness - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people!
Well, looks like Im back on flashing roms to my beloved tf300t
So into the thing: Few months back I flashed my first 4.2 rom (cant remember which rom it was) and of course with the new bootloader in seek of performance.
After few days of use I decided to go back to JB and it took me a full day to rollback to older bootloader but it was worth it. I couldnt stand that poor performance and freezing on 4.2 against my old flawless JB rom.
Now few months have passed since that. So Im wondering if there is any 4.2 rom that has better performance than my current JB rom CleanROM Inheritance 3.4.6.
Im asking you guys because I dont want to rollback to JB bootloader again if I decide to flash 4.2 rom again.
Thanks

Anyone..?

Running cromi with hunds kernel. Runs great, but i wouldnt upgrade just for it.

Too bad, looks like no perfomance gained from 4.2 against 4.1.

My quick recommend, use the google keyboard and feel the smooth. Asus keyboard suck and lag like hell.

Should I keep my transformer stock

I just picked up my transformer tf300 yesterday, it is an amazing tablet. I'm just wondering if I should root and flash custom roms or keep it stock. And if i do want to root and flash what are some things i need to know before i do. I have experience with my HTC hd2 but i know Android native devices are almost completely different

just my opinion
dive right in,
root - look for the debugfs thread and the process is automated for you
it does not require you to use the unlock tool, so you will retain your warranty
you'll also want to install busybox
and either superuser or Supersu from market place
currently there's a rom currently based on stock which is awesome,
incredibly fast
it's night and day difference
After you've rooted, if you want to flash custom roms
use the asus unlock tool
then install goo manager from the market place - it has an option to install TWRP recovery
reboot and make a backup
then flash away, any rom you like
i recommend flashing seamzscreams rom, it's buttery smooth plus it's based off the stock. 30 build.

Ill be rooting then thank you

If you plan on rooting I recommend you installing cwm recovery and keep a copy of the asus .30 firmware on your internal sd card. This way you can return to stock if you dont like what the custom rom offers. None of the recoveries can read the ext sd card at this time and you can only flash the stock firmware with cwm.
What about that twrp recovery it can't flash stock roms?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
It can't flash the stock Asus ROM. It just hangs. It flashes the custom stock ROM fine, though.
If you root/unlock, do you need an extra SD card to save a backup with from either CWM or TWRP?
Noob obv.
Can cwm install custom roms as well?

CWM should be able to flash custom ROMs. However, some folks have had trouble using CWM to flash seanzscreams' ROM and had to use TWRP to flash it. Until either recovery fully stabilizes, you should be prepared to switch recoveries back and forth depending on which ROM you flash or when restoring backups. And you should always keep an extra ROM to flash on your internal storage just in case since neither recovery supports external storage yet.
Unless you have some specific app you really want/need root for, why do it?
Soo, twrp would be more reliable and if anything goes wrong I'll switch to cwm and flash stock firmware

I couldn't get seanz rom to work with clockwork either i had to use twrp as well. Not a big deal but now I have both on my tablet.
If you unlock use seanz rom it's incredibly fast.

Well I want to overclock , and having titanium back up would be nice
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Well then all you need to do is root. Use sparkies root tool it makes things super easy. I got mine to overclock to 1.5ghz with ez overclock but you must apply it after each boot.

Link to sparkies tool would be nice, and have you noticed any stability issues when overclocked?

Since QC issues are rampant with TF300T, I'm gonna stay stock + root for the first year. I have a feeling it'll need to eventually get sent in for repairs.

These are my thoughts exactly. I will stay stock and rooted unless a really smooth JB ROM gets released and I cant stand waiting for the official one.

N.O.V.A 3?

Has anyone managed to play N.O.V.A 3 without lag? It's smooth for me sometimes but then it lags noticeably when there are enemies on screen and other times. Anyone playing it without lag' or is it Gameloft's problem?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app

It is working very well for me, although I have only played for about 2 hours. I am on stock, rooted with Seanscreams' Jelly Bean tweaks. I assume all of you have tried a cold boot?

Ouch! Only other thing I can suggest is a factory reset, but not sure if there is a good enough chance of success to warrant the hassle of backing up and restoring everything.

[Q] change dpi parameter since last stock rom updates

It's a long time since the lawt thread about dpi change. Last time it was not working anymore after a stock rom update. But since that time we have got 1 or 2 other updates. Does somebody know if it's possible again ? Thanks in advance

Yep it's a bug in 4.3 - signature mismatch.
4.4 has this fixed and will be out tomorrow or you can fix it yourself by reinstalling the rom and not installing the no sd card mod.
Thanks, i never involved the no sd mod

Running slow

Hi there! I have a stock TF300. I have had it since Feb. Lately its been running really slow and sluggish. I have tried turning it off when not using it and whatnot. Its to the point where I don't even want to use it because I can get things done faster on my phone.
I have rooted and rommed phones in the past, a Samsung gtab7, and a kindle fire.
My tablet literally has maybe 12 games for my 4 year old and maybe 10 apps that I have put on it. Pretty sad.
Is rooting the asus tf300 just as easy? I know that would help my situation, it sucks that we have to hack our devices just to get them to run the way we want.
I have read through some of the guides. Some seem pretty simple... I guess its just a matter of me doing it.
Thanks for the advice.

yes rooting is very easy, just use motochopper
Rooting is suuuuper easy. If you decide to put a custom recovery on it and ROM it, make sure you know exactly what your doing, which files and recoveries are correct, etc.

we need more info to help mate are you on stock? rooted? how many apps you got installed (just a rough number lol), if your on stock what version and if your using a custom rom which one?, then we will be able to make your tab fly
Its stock android 4.2.1 with 76 apps include asus apps and aps pre installed.
And not rooted.

Well rooting and getting rid of or freezing the bloatware would help mate but if your not bothered about your warrenty then custom Roms are the best way to really make this a great tablet
