I downloaded Quadrant on my HTC One to Benchmark it and then I uninstalled it however when I rebooted my phone I got a UID inconsistency error and I discovered it was this app so I had to manually delete the .apk to resolve it because for some reason it was still lingering anyway the folder for it is still in my Data/Data directory and no matter what I try I'm unable to delete it. I've used Root Explorer and Ftp'd in but no luck yet. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Just make sure you have tap on "Mount as R/W" in Root Explorer
it is mounted a R/W
I just had exactly the same **** happen to me with quadrant. I resolved the uid issues by format cache partition and deleted the apk but that folder in data is not deleteable.
Can't install quadrant either as it says error 24. Well I have no idea what's wrong and also the free space for the folder in data matches the stats for the asec data folder. Weird !
I would put my trust in the original linux/unix command line utilities. I can recommend "Terminal IDE" as a package of a terminal emulator and a base system. Just start it, install the "system", then go to the command line. With
Code:
su
you should get root rights. And with
Code:
rm -r /path/to/whatever
you should either be able to delete it or get a more or less meaningful error message.
@ccxxx i followed your method but remained unable to delete the facebook folder...

Well, I/o error is bad. It usually means that the memory is physically broken but I think it can also be caused when the filesystem is corrupted.
I renamed the folder instead of deleting it and everything worked perfectly... does this still mean the memory is corrupted?

I had the same problem installing an other app. I tried removing the app entry from data/data/com.appName. (found after hours of searching)
It worked for me! Try out

Ok, used those apps. Both don't show the .com file from the xda app. Don't think that one is one my Nexus S
Found this thread by Googling and wanted to share a solution that worked for me:
Browse to your /data/ folder and find the name of the app you're having trouble installing. EDIT: Might also be /data/data/
For example:
/data/com.touchtype.swiftkey/
or
/data/com.redbox.android.activity/
and delete that folder. then install the app from Google play. It worked for me.
I used Root Explorer (from the Play Store) to get to these directories.

my phone can't see its internal storage, though the data is still there. I'm running tin latest developer preview, flashed clean and rooted with code blue. everything was fine, but I dirty flashed xtra smooth 1.5 and then reverted to my stock rooted backup a day later because of battery issues. since then I cannot download any file from the browser, it starts and then says unsuccessful after a second, and I also can't download a file from my google drive. play store works fine however. if I open the aosp gallery the folders for my internal storage images (camera, instagram, vsco, downloaded, etc.) just show as blank, with pictures saying "no thumbnail available." however, videos show blank as well but have the play button, and if I hit it the file will play normally, and if I attach one of the blank images to something like hangouts or an email they will show up. if I try to the back up function of any apps that offer it, like my alarm clock or pedometer it fails. though they can see the old file is there and restore from it. lastly, file explorer programs show my sdcard folder to be empty, though they are obviously not. I generally use es, but have tried several others with the same result. if I view it via twrps file explorer in recovery things are normal. any help?
Read the /sdcard sticky in general
thanks, it is a great sticky, but after reading it i dont see any solution/reference to my problem. the issue is not that data is deleted or corrupt or anything along those lines, it is that my phone- when booted into android- is not seeing my files. the data is there, but something is wrong and i cannot see them. for clarification, its not just /sdcard that is showing as empty in file explorers, /data, /storage and many others are showing empty too, though not everything as folders like /sys and /system are showing up as normal.
Mine is doing the exact same thing and is blowing my mind, it knows the folders are there, it says I have 7 GB full but the folder is emptey in any file explorer
heres the error i get when trying to download a podcast, i get a similar EACCESS permission denied error when trying to back up an app, but like i said, if the app already has a backup on the storage i can restore it no problem

It's like there is something disabling it from being seen by the system
I had a similar issue, doing this resolved it:
adb shell
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0

Thanks bro! This fixed my SD issues!!
Hi everyone,
I have a rooted my Samsung galaxy s3 mini ve. Because it was permanently running in background, I backed up LogsProvider using ROM toolbox and then I removed it.
Now when I open the phone app, it says "contacts has stopped". So I can't dial a number, but when I open contacts I can select and phone someone.
I already tried wiping contacts data, no success. I tried reinstalling LogsProvider, it says : " LogsProvider wasn't installed ". In logcat I see " dexopt failed"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Vinz243
How please?
Logs provider is a system app, it is not installed with the package manager. You need to copy it back to the system app folder with a root file manager.

and change the permissions to rw-r--r--
Thanks guys I copied LogsProvider.apk into /system/app and set the permissions but the app isn't installed after a reboot: (
So you rebooted and tried the dialer again? Did you double check that the Apk is still in system app folder, and has 644 permissions? Try 777 and reboot again.
Also did you remount the system partition before copying it over?
The dialer did not work and the app were nowhere to be seen in system app. This is the LogsProvider.apk properties:

How do I set 777 permissions?
777 is rwx for all three permissions. Also try group root.
I did it and reboot, but it looks like it messed things up. I'm not sure because I also installed or updated several apps, but now the xposed framework doesn't work anymore and on each startup, out asks me which launched I wanna use
Sounds like you gotta reflash to stock (or custom rom) and start from scratch re rooting and everything.
Thanks. How can I efficiently backup everything in a stroke? I have a very bad experience of adb backup or other backup solution. Perhaps copying data folder would be OK? And secondly where can I get a tutorial in order to reflash the ROM?
Hi!
I picked up a Mate 8 from a local service provider and would love to flash a new ROM to get rid of the ugly stock one, but I am stuck when trying to flash anything from TWRP.
The phone boots fine, I unlocked the bootloader, and has TWRP Mate 8 version...I can't locate any files from the internal storage though. I understand this is due to the system being encrypted. I cant seem to get around that though. I tried the format data option, hit yes, then go back but that obviously has deleted what I had stored (the SU zip). I can't mount the SD either afterwards, to load it in recovery.
I tried using the Italian knife tool, and used the Root option, and option 3, but get an error: error: cannot load '.\rec\boot.img
I am not a pro on this so it might be something farely stupid. I would love if anyone could help me with this...

Edit:
I was able to solve myself. It was a rookie mistake. Perhaps the internal storage is encrypted, however I was able to flash SU using TWRP by inserting an external SD, which I had not done before. I was able to view contents from that location and did not need to use the Italian knife tool.

Are you using SuperSU ??
To delete system apps, download system app uninstaller from play store and grand it superuser permission.
Not sure which channel to put this in, please move if this is not the correct one.
I am unable to copy a certain file. At first I tried using a cloud share app, then USB file transfer, then ADB, then local file browsing apps, finally a terminal emulator. All fail. I can see the file and the app that created it can interact with it, but I cannot copy the file, permission denied. Phone is rooted. This is a large file created by TitaniumBackup. It's large because the backed up app has a lot of data, about 4 GB worth. I can copy all the small files that Titanium creates during its backup process, including the apk and properties files. And I can rename the big file, even delete it, just not copy.
I don't think it matters but this is a rooted Pixel 5 with stock ROM.
Apparently the same issue is within Titanium itself. It can delete backups but not upload to the cloud using the built-in function to Sync to Google Drive. I am thoroughly confused.
Can you run 'chmod 777' for that special file in advance as your system has been rooted?

No issue chmoding but then can't copy still. Tried copying to the same dir and to my Download and Documents folders, same result.

According to the screenshot, it means that you have no permission to create cp.gz in this directory. So, try to run chmod for the directory at first.

I was told that chmod doesn't function in /sdcard due to how it's mounted. So I went into /data/media/0/TitaniumBackup that can chmod there but still can't adb pull the file.
Before chmod: -rw------- 1 u0_a256
After chmod: -rwxrwxrwx 1 u0_a256
But pull still fails:
adb pull /data/media/0/TitaniumBackup/ws.clockthevault-20201130-045341.tar.gz vaultcopy.tar.gz
adb: error: failed to stat remote object '/data/media/0/TitaniumBackup/ws.clockthevault-20201130-045341.tar.gz': Permission denied
It's gotta be size related. This file is just over 4.3 GB.
This is resolved. Someone helped me on another forum: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/231624/unable-to-copy-a-certain-file
