[Q] Which kernels were compatible with CM10? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So,
I've gotten use to CM10. For months after EOS4 came around, it was ungodly slow. Even after switching off the media scanner, using a custom kernel, etc... the UI FR and general responsiveness was extremely lacking. It seems that it's been the Go-To ROM of choice for many, many months now, and the performance situation may have changed, but i'm hesitant to flash it, even if the only reason is that everything works great, other than a bit of bitrot here and there with CM10-- which brings me to my issue:
KAT kernel (version 69, of course (haha! seriously outdated)) seems to blow out my YouTube DPI, which can be fixed simply by setting the DPI to 150 or so n XPosed, and a quick dirty flash/ update kills the bitrot i run into every couple months...this time, however, i was clearing space, and organizing my .zips, when i decided it would be a brilliant idea to put all my AOSP ROMs together, all my mods & themes/addns together, and all my kernels together. The issue is, I cant for the life of me remember which kernel, and kernel version i was using! Besides the funky DPI behavior, KAT also introduces an extreme degree of video ghosting and stuttering.
I've tried a couple older kernels, but often, I'd find out the kernel was for ICS, and I'd be stuck at the boot screen.
Can someone please point me in the direction of 1-2 CM10 Kernels?
Bonus round: have the EOS issues been fixed definitively. Or do you still have to bang yuor head against the wall, look t your tablet upside down, and do some voodoo on it to get it workng?

I have never had issues like they with EOS4, so I cannot say if your issues are still around. Most users who have issues with EOS I believe did not do a factory reset, or restored system settings with Titanium Backup.
But, I would try the KatKernel 103 lidpatch CM10.1 version:
http://downloads.timduru.org/android/tf101/K.A.T/kernel/Tim_KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch_CM10.1.zip
Edit - this is a cm10.1. If you are still on CM10, 69/70 are the most recent compatible ones.

Real Cyanogen 7.2 RC2

Just noticed this:
update-cm-7.2.0-RC2-smb_a1002-signed.zip
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=smb_a1002&type=RC
Anybody try it yet?
I'm still on a 1.1 Recovery, but that should not be a problem for this ROM right?
Post if you install and the success you have please. Thanks - Dan
CM7
I am running CM7.1.0.1 i am afraid to change roms due to lack of success with past flashes. I am pretty much outdated on my rom but it doesn't seem like developers are producing a lot of this particular tablet....or maybe its just me. Are any of you guys rocking a must have ROM for the tablet. I am also running into issues where i'll have to reset my tablet to access wifi. It'll freeze between screens when I enter my wireless settings. If you want me to i'll back everthing up using TB and Nandroid and try this new one if no one wants to take the plunge!
OK, I've installed it. Here's my review:
Upgrade Details:
Viewsonic G-Tablet - 1.1 Bootloader
Clockwork Recovery newly from latest ROM Manager (5.0.0.6)
Previous ROM - Official CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
Method:
Reboot into Recovery - Wiped/Deleted/Formatted/Erased/Reset to Factory Defaults - Everything I could.
Re-partitioned 2048/0, even though I think it was that way already.
Wiped/Deleted/Formatted/Erased/Reset to Factory Defaults - Everything I could - again - and then again - a few more times, and then once again.
In case you are not comprehending the subtly of the above, let me clarify: I was trying to do a clean install.
Installed 7.2.0 RC2 from link in first post of thread.
Did NOT install Gapps, Sound Fix, Camera Fix or do any Market fix.
Observations:
- The 7.1.0.1 Bug of not having WiFi turned on upon reboot is fixed.
- WiFi Seems to connect more quickly/reliably than 7.1.0.1 - Probably (should) has DHCP bug fixed.
- Seems to have it's own audio fix. Multimedia Volume appears momentarily after boot, and sound seems to work (mostly) fine.
- DPI is set low for me -- I'll have to mess with build.prop
- Camera Works - Orientation seems correct, Snapped picture was clear, and there are more camera settings.
- There is no DSP Manager.
- In CyangenMod settings -- if you enable Screen-off Animation (Twilight Zone effect), it won't wake from a manual sleep.
- Still has problem of dockbar (not notification bar) disappearing, and I do not know how to get it back. Have to place an open/close app draw Icon on the home screens.
- Web Browser stability/speed seems better than 7.1.0.1 - This may be as much because of the wipe as anything else.
- I installed the Google Apps via the run-once market fetcher. This worked well with the exception of Google Maps:
- Current Google Maps causes almost immediate *bad* crash back to the Cyanogen Spinning arrow, and it stays there. I have to force a full reboot by power cycling. Will need to downgrade to a Maps 5.x.x I have on an SD Card someplace.
- Not sure whats up with Google Talk - Camera works for an instant, but seems to freeze, no audio. Google Talk does not seem to be in the Market, This Google Talk was in the ROM.
- Market Updated to Play automatically. Works fine. Most apps seem to be there.
- Some YouTube HQ videos still only play with HQ off. While messing with this, at some point I lost audio, and had to do the headphones in-out to get speaker audio back.
- 3D Tegra optimized game worked well with good frame rates. (Ground Effect XHD)
Look:
Definitely good ole' Gingerbread - Very few cosmetic changes from 7.1.0.1 - No CM9/Honeycomb look/icons or wallpapers. A few new Cyanogen wall papers that were not in 7.1.0.1
Skype
Just curious if you have tried Skype and the results.

Sorry, but I do not use Skype.
I'll try a standard SIP client, and report back.
Now, with a Little more time on it, I can report that it is a perfectly useable ROM. I have not seen anything that would be a show stopper, or prevent this from being a release.
WiFi is definitely improved, and I would recommend it as an upgrade from 7.1.0.1.
Now an official CM9 would be better, but until then, 7.2 will keep me from feeling like I need to buy a new tablet for a while.
RC 3 out
I came over from Flashlight. CM7.2 rc3 works very well. Only issue I have is some video resolutions act like there is no sync, just get wavy lines.
Looking at the changes, which can be found here:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_malata_smb_a1002
It does not look like much has changed from RC2 to RC3. (Which is a good thing, since by RC3, we should be getting pretty close to a release). Just some build stuff which probably does not effect the packaged ROM at all.
So I have not upgraded from RC2 to RC3.
I also get the diagonal lines in Youtube videos for some settings.
Only the fairly low resolutions seem to work at all.

[Q] Heavy Stutters with every rom and kernel

So my Galaxy s3 all of a sudden started to have stutters, i have a custom rom Foxhound 2.3, and when i try any custom kernel it lags as hell. (Stock also gives stutters so its not kernel related i think)
For example perseus stutters my phone in app drawer and every time i open an application.
Syah 1.8.9. although its better, still have some stutters...
the only one that can have the phone more stable is the stock one. I dont really mind having the stock kernel its just that it makes the phone more stable but it still stutters when opening apps and in the app drawer.
Its weird because in applications i have no problems, and when im playing games is all good to.. even the more heavy intensive ones. Also my boot and shutdown animation stutter or jitters a little bit.. a thing that dint happened.
Also the benchmarks are good as always +/- 16000 on antutu, no changes... so i don't really understand whats happening...
Steps so far:
-Tested other custom roms including CM10.1 Nightly
-Tested various kernel.
-Flashed stock rom with odin
Every time with megawipe. always...

Performance with Custom Roms & Kernels

I've tried many custom roms and kernels, and still none match the Stock one. Don't know why but the performance will drops to a point that my phone can no longer do multitasking actions (like returning to home while in a game, switching between games, turn off and then turn on the screen) as it would return in a freeze, and it can only be fixed by force rebooting. Also, the phone will be less responsive than before.
Help needed >.<"
Custom ROMs are still at an early stage on Moto G and they cannot guarantee stability. Eventually they should offer a comparable experience (hopefully superior) to stock, but that could be weeks / months / years away.
Often the same bugs are present in all CyanogenMOD-based ROMs - once there is progress in pure CM, the rest should improve.
Pure cm Roms have become very smooth now..

[Q] Instagram - purple video on lollipop roms

When lollipop builds were first released for the one, there were tons of bugs. Since then much of them have been cleaned up. I've had two consistent problems, through at least 4 different roms.
1) recording video, and you hit stop. It doesnt stop, it just hangs and keeps recording until you force close and lose your recording. It doesnt appear to be happening in this rom however. So this is solved.
2) The current issue I'm having is that no matter which lollipop rom I use, if I try and take video using the built in camera, it shows heavy people static and can't take the video. I have multirom recovery installed, but I'm only using the primary rom. And I've now switched to AK kernel thinking maybe it was a kernel issue... But to no avail.
Anyone have any tips? I'm at wits end. Only happens with instagram.
Currently running a fresh install of darkobass, with ak kernel...
But it's also happened on CR droid, 2 of the first cm12 daily builds that released, blisspop, and on paranoid android that I just tried before darko.

Recent Apps Lag

I've noticed that Marshmallow software from our mighty Samsung suffers from some modest recent apps screen lag. Moving through apps cards feels a bit stuttery and heavy (whereas everything else is lightning fast and smooth as butter). Am I the only one experiencing this? I feel like it came out some time after performing a factory reset. I'm running the latest version of XtreStoLite ROM, clean cache everyday (with SDMaid) and don't use crappy apps like for example Facebook which slow Android down significantly.
BTW,
I remember that I used to use some custom kernel for some short period of time (arter kernel probably?) and the problem seemed to be completely gone as I recall. Maybe that's the stock kernel related issue then
